...and if so, did you like the outcome? The only game I ever pre-ordered was Abyss Odyssey (and I still didn't have time to try it), anything that ACE Team does is an insta-buy for me and I want to support them as a studio.

I bought the Planetary Annihilation Kickstarter at the release tier (non-beta).

  1. I'm annoyed that people on steam were able to purchase and play the beta version for less than I paid for my release version. I can get over that, though. Crap happens, and the game is pretty ok.

  2. I'm very annoyed that the game requires internet, and that everything goes through their servers. I don't play multiplayer games. My internet connection is terrible. If I'm playing a game against an AI, I shouldn't have to be online to do it. The game runs like crap, and I'm told that it's because everything actually happens on their servers. This is not an MMO, and it shouldn't be treated as one.

  3. I'm annoyed at the amount of in-game content that isn't actually in-game. All the videos are youtube videos, nothing is stored on disk. The built-in Twitch functionality is a nice feature, I suppose, but the majority of gamers do not stream games. I would prefer that time to have been spent working on making the game run offline, or without that, making sure it runs well hundreds of miles away from their servers rather than only running nicely on a computer in a company that probably has a low-latency network connection only a hop or two away from a backbone.

Worms Reloaded (don't judge me, it was the first 2D Worms game in a long while!). Never again, not ever again.

Payday 2 and Thief (2014). A game has to be really bad for me to judge it harshly, so yes, I was satisfied with the purchases.

Currently have a pre-order for a physical copy of Witcher 3 Collector's Edition. I know I'll be happy with it =)

The Metro Redux Bundle and The Witcher 3. Both were however acquired through trading, so I didn't really pay for much compared to what I should have paid. I'm loving Metro 2033 Redux so far, so I think that was pretty worth it.

I'm thinking of preordering NBA 2K15 since I do expect to sink at least 100 hours into it anyway like most NBA 2K games I've pirated in the past. lol

I pre-ordered a lot in my console days.

I use to pre-order on steam, until I discovered this site and branched out in to collecting, trading, and smarter shopping.

My biggest restraint recently was South Park, which I had a hard time not buying. Finally picked it up at the recent humble store deal. Below my normal discount I wait for, but been waiting awhile so made an exception.

I did pick-up Fable Anniversary pre-order for gmg when they have the 20% discount plus a 25% or 22% coupon.

I've been getting pretty good at making myself wait, and with such a large back log, it seems to make it easier.

Civ: Beyond Earth and Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor are really tempting me. I've almost given in to trading for keys, but worried about region locks one it goes live. Don't have much experience with pre-ordering from traders.

When it's digital why pre-ordering anything as the software available has infinite copies available plus the price is volatile so it will always go down and down. Unless you have some serious advantage such as early access I don't see the need to sink money in advance for nothing in return. If it's a physical medium with limited edition than it's another story!

I don't really do pre-orders. Pre-ordering games is kind of fun though. Anyway, I pre-ordered Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time (That game was amazing), Pokemon X & Y (I'm not really into pokemon anymore, so I didn't enjoy it and I haven't even gotten my 2nd starter pokemon), Bioshock Infinite (I don't regret paying 59.99 for that game surprisingly. It was extremely good for the experience I got out of it, i'm happy to support that company with the money I paid for it.) I think I pre-ordered one or two other real-life games. But I can't remember them.)

All the time, but never PC games. I generally tend to preorder games with physical incentives like cds, artbooks, and other interesting nicknacks. And usually from the smaller localization teams like Atlus, NISA, AKSYS - who have harder time getting funds and releasing less popular games.

As for regretting a preorder purchase? Not really. I generally know what I'm getting with jrpg and jsrpgs. Though there was that one time I preordered Dragon Age 2 and that was definitely not worth the money spent. And that other time I bought a collectors edition of Assassin's Creed III and boy was that a mistake. It's usually the triple A games that give me the preorder or paid the full price blues.

Pre-ordered Skyrim, SSX (2012), and Pokemon Y. In that order.
I can't even begin how disappointed I was with SSX.

I never pre-ordered anything on PC since I have only had steam for a year but when I was a console gamer I would pre-order a bunch of games, I remember pre-ordering MW3, Gears of War 3, Borderlands 2 and when I was younger I even pre-ordered some of the Pokemon games for original Nintendo ds, and there were a few other games but I don't recall them.

Would it only have ponys in it, or would it be cross species? I think I know what bronys would want more.

On PC? Nope. On console and handheld a few times. Recently the next Harvest Moon on 3DS for the plush, I give the game to my cousin and the plush to a friend. Lego Batman 3 for the Plastic Man Minifigure, Lego Marvel for Iron Patriot, Lego Batman 2 for Lex Luthor and Lego Batman for Joker Keychain. Dragon Quest IV for this plush Deadpool for the challenge maps. There's been others I think. Usually I pre-order for useless trinkets. Metroid Prime Trilogy, Ghostbusters and DC vs Mortal Kombat for T-Shirts. Some Sonic game for my Sixth Favorite Hat That's all off the top of my head, but there's more I bet.

I've never pre-ordered anything on Steam, but I did pre-order Heavy Rain and Dante's Inferno Divine Edition for PS3. Each was worth every penny.
