icaio was a very kind person and was heavily involved in Steamgifts, whether it was giveaways or commenting. The community will miss him, that's for sure. I'm pretty sure he's looking down right now with a smile, seeing every beautiful message in this thread and the creation of a train in his memory.
Thank you for everything you've done for the community icaio.
May you rest in piece

I got to know him very well over the years on SG. He was a real champion of SteamGifts and gave so much, not only in giveaways but in trying to promote community. he would even give steam keys to users with 0 CV so they could make giveaways if they were unable to afford buying games to give away on their own.
He always looked to give credit to indie game developers and to promote those who he thought were doing good work. He was a huge fan of Walter Machado and others that he followed and interacted with on Twitter.
In getting to know him, he also told me about in the days before SG, he was very big involved in early Google online communities and was even flown to Google HQ for a tour and meet-up with Googlers in California.
We shared a love of cats and of trash games, and especially of making giveaways to bring a little joy to the winner's day! He thought it was funny that I knew about the cat sanctuary at Largo di Torre Argentina and the Italian stripes painted on roads and fire hydrants in the Italian part of my city.
He had been fighting intestinal cancer for the last few years, during his long absences from SG I would chat with him via e-mail about his treatments and recovery. The covid-19 pandemic was raging and Italy was being hit hard in the beginning, while he was going through surgeries and treatments.
At one point, after the GoGoBundle/OtakuBundle key revocation apocalypse, he shared his unused steam keys spreadsheet (thousands of games!) with friends, it became a beautiful, colorful, collaborative spreadsheet of people making comments, art, jokes (and yes, activating games as well). Even in what may have been an act of hopelessness, both for the state of the keys and of his own personal fate, he was bringing joy to people's lives and bringing them together!
I imagine there were a lot of SteamGifters for whom icaio was their "best SG friend", a testament to his persistently friendly nature and willingness to initiate conversations and friendships!
RIP Fabio C. You will be missed!
Some invite-only giveaways in his memory. Level 0, no region locks have been added to the train (starting here)

Both of my parends had cancer, I've lost my dad but my mom was lucky and survived. It hurts, seeing such wonderful warm-hearted people losing a battle against it, I didn't had the chance to meet Icaio (i've registered less than 2 weeks ago) but it seems to be an amazing and loved person for the comments i'm seeing and i'm sure, wherever he is, he's proud of this community. Sending a big and warm hug to all <3

Don't really know what to say, probably i should just say nothing; but wanted to comment something as he was a big part of SG. Well, we can hope he is just trolling us all? If not, hope he rest in peace, he did a great job in here (and i guess out here too) :) .

It's a sad day for the giveaway community.
I'm really sorry to hear the news, and still have a part of me hoping that it isn't true. I didn't really know icaio, I won a coin pusher game from him when I was part of PA and had minimal interaction about it with him. But seeing him pop up in the comments and on the forum made him part of my Steamgift experience and he will be missed.
May you rest in peace

Wow, if this is true, that's sad news. You never know what hardships hide behind a cheerful online presence and this goes to show that behind an avatar there's more than an anonymous presence, there's a human being with their ups, their downs and their own predicaments.
RIP, Icaio, you ascended to the next level in the game of life.

Hey all. I am going to start by saying that I do not have any more information than what I am sharing in this post.
EDIT: as it turns out, I do have some more information
As some of you know, icaio has not been on SG for a while, and he hasn't logged into his Steam profile either.
I posted on his Steam profile a few weeks ago, just a quick note saying I hoped he was okay.
Yesterday I received a friend request on Steam from someone I did not recognize. I didn't see any obvious red flags, so I accepted.
This new friend sent me a message today, saying that they were icaio's cousin, and they saw my post on his profile and wanted to let me know that icaio passed away on September 30.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that icaio was an absolute legend of Steamgifts. His generosity, sense of humor and thoughtfulness came through in every 'showerthinking' post and every 'trash' game giveaway and every time he helped to solve a derailment in the community train.
Before I visited Rome a few years ago, caio volunteered to give me his mobile number so I could ask him real-time questions while I was in Italy. And that's exactly what I did! So we didn't quite get a chance to actually meet in person, but it was fun to chat with him while we were in the same country.
Not much more to say right now. Just R.I.P. to icaio, he will always be a Steamgifts legend.
