God bless his soul if that's true, but let's still hope for the best, and maybe he just disappeared temporarily from public for some time and will return later!

No please be a joke! Oh I'm going to miss him. I haven't been able to talk much with him the last couple of months because of some health problems. Had I known... :(
My condolences tp anyone who had the joy to interact with him... May he rest in peace. 🖤

Your one of the nicest people around Tina - I'm sure he loved talking with you and you can't be mad at yourself - no one knew he would go so suddenly
We are running a sorta train if you feel this is something you'd like to be a part of

I can only second what wigglenose said. You are one of the loveliest people on SG and any moment spent with people we like is a good one. Focus on the moments you two shared instead of wrecking your brain about things you could not foresee nor change.
For me it is also a good time to reflect on what the important things in life are and how we decide to go through life. Icaio was focused on positivity and generosity, and that is a great example for the rest of us to live up to.

Goddammit
Just got up, read this and now I'm depressed.
RIP Icaio, you were the best of us 🖖

I just read this whole thread and right now I'm completely speechless. I cannot believe that.
I had the chance to chat with him multiple times and he was always one of the most available, kind and joyful person of this community I've met. He'll truly be missed. Riposa in pace, Icaio. Thanks for every moment you decided to share with me. <3

I'm so sorry and sad to learn what he's been struggling with, it breaks my heart :( He was always kind, chill and friendly in a really unique way. He spent so much of his time being immensely generous to others even when life was not being very kind to him... It wasn't only gifts that he shared but his humour and fun personality too to bring joy! May he be somewhere peaceful and happy... ❤🌷

Do you actually know or are you just assuming? Because I looked it up the articles and what I found was that the age doesn't match nor does the time of death.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hmm I haven't found any articles that actually stated the name.
As far as I know he was 53 not 49. And one of the articles I saw said died in the morning (and multiple articles were posted at ~3pm) while he has delivered some keys on SG past 3pm.
If you actually know and I got some info wrong I am sorry for doubting. If not, I do know, it just seems wrong to speculate.

I just don't get how those giveaways were delivered after he supposedly died? They are not 50+ copies so they couldn't have been sent automatically.
On the other hand the Switzerland part makes a lot of sense relating to him...
Yea, I tried to find something with the name, but my Italian skills weren't good enough to actually find something to relate the 2 together.

The giveaways were not actually delivered. Some of them were set to not received and others were set to recevied after the fact because the winners got keys from other generous users. It's all in the respective comments in the giveaways. One winner even bought the game themselves to be able to mark it as received.
Icaio's last post and last recorded action on SG was on Sep 30, 17:50 CET. That still doesn't add up with the articles, as described here.

While there are some from later on in the day that aren't legit delivered, the ones from around 3pm are (which are the ones that I am refering to) are, which makes sense if his last post is from 5pm.
Also my source about his age is Icaio himself. I mean, he could have lied about it, but why would he?

Unrelated but due to this interaction I just realised that because I replied to one of his messages late becsuse I was travelling he never actually got to read my response... not that it really mattered but still, don't procrastinate replying to people, you never know... this is the 2nd time this happened to me too...

Reconciling with emotions and missed opportunities. Keep it simple. Do you think icaio would be sad that a late message was sent? You still sent it and thats what counts in my book. Even the thought of replying counts. What would you want if the situation was reversed?
Memorials/Celebration of Life are held so people can gather, reflect, and ease any shock or pain.

You are completely right. But it still regardless makes me a bit sad that I was too late, even if my response wasn't even important in the first place. But I am not gonna eat myself up over it anymore.
Thank you!

His full name is not mentioned in any news article.

I have found some articles about this story. It doesn't add up.
One of the articles was published on Sep 30 at 16:01 CET, another at 15:45 CET, one at 15:28 CET, another at 15:16 CET.
The last giveaways he delivered to their respective winners, ended 16:59 CET. And his last post on SG was on Sep 30, 17:50 CET, which also matches his "Last Online" time on his profile, so more than 2 hours AFTER those articles were published.
Multiple articles say, that the victim was refused by the clinic in Switzerland because he was "not suffering from any pathological condition". Cancer is at least a potentially pathological condition and wasn't mentioned at all in these articles.
And if MouseWithBeer is correct about his age, that doesn't fit either. I also didn't find an article that mentioned the victim's name.

That article was published on Sep 30 and explicitly states "This morning in Rapallo the mother found her son". Like I already showed, icaio was active on SG until late afternoon, early evening of Sep 30.
It also says that the victim was "neither seriously ill nor terminal" and thus refused by the swiss clinic, again not mentioning anything about cancer. Accept it: those articles are not about icaio.

Sorry I mean both of the articles kevinxz linked to. I've only seen the 2 that were linked here so I said both.

Didn't think you came off as harsh, but I fully understand. He has another post in the discussion which is upsetting others.

You probably mean "initials sake case" if that even were a thing. I really hope you learn from this and don't repeat anything like this ever again. Your post here:
I want to add what I know about his death, he had been depressed for several years because of cancer and the death of his father, he had quit his job and no longer left his house.
He had applied to go to die in a clinic in Switzerland but was refused, so he chose to die with "something" he had bought on the dark web.
Now a police investigation is underway to track down who sold that stuff.

talks about what you claim to "know" and makes it seem like you had inside knowledge to be able to determine, that it is actually about icaio, which was easily provable that it is absolutely not.
This wasn't "knowledge". This was spreading false rumours based on your unverified and false assumptions. Even worse: spreading false rumours about a person who most probably has died as well and is being mourned in this thread. Imagine any relative of his having to read this.
If I hadn't been sure, I wouldn't have talked about it.
How could you even remotely call that being "sure"? You didn't check the date and times. You didn't notice the inconsistencies about his illness not being mentioned. You didn't notice that that victim had been found in the morning while icaio was active on SG until the early evening. You talk about a namesake, but all you had was the initials.
At first I didn't believe it either but unfortunately then they gave me confirmation
https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/KQ12Q9W
And who are "they" here? And what kind of confirmation did "they" give you?
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't know if that's his name or not. It doesn't matter, because all you had from the articles, was the initials. That's not what a "namesake" means. And like I've said and proven multiple times now: with just a little bit of verification, you could have easily found out, that that story has nothing to do with icaio.
But you didn't check. You wanted to believe it. You wanted to have something to write here. You wanted to act as if you had new information, inside knowledge that no one else here had.
How about you admit your mistake and accept, that it was a really stupid move and learn from this? Or are you really that obtuse to still think, this was an ok thing to do?
Comment has been collapsed.
You are correct.
Additionally, I find it highly unlikely that anybody in his family would have been the ones to find him had it been him.
Comment has been collapsed.
Dude, talking about the death of someone needs to be made with EXTRA care.
here you have not verified the informations and it's clear none of them are really linked to Icaio, plus you give some awful details that can make people suffer.
Not a good job here, I strongly suggest you edit your posts
Edit: I'd add that EVEN if the informations you gave were true (and I'm sure they aren't) , you gave them without thinking about the consequences or other people's feelings. That's rude at the very least

So you didn't know shit, noone confirmed you anything and were just assuming shit wrong after all. Seriously what is wrong with you.

Hey all. I am going to start by saying that I do not have any more information than what I am sharing in this post.
EDIT: as it turns out, I do have some more information
As some of you know, icaio has not been on SG for a while, and he hasn't logged into his Steam profile either.
I posted on his Steam profile a few weeks ago, just a quick note saying I hoped he was okay.
Yesterday I received a friend request on Steam from someone I did not recognize. I didn't see any obvious red flags, so I accepted.
This new friend sent me a message today, saying that they were icaio's cousin, and they saw my post on his profile and wanted to let me know that icaio passed away on September 30.
*
I don't think it's a stretch to say that icaio was an absolute legend of Steamgifts. His generosity, sense of humor and thoughtfulness came through in every 'showerthinking' post and every 'trash' game giveaway and every time he helped to solve a derailment in the community train.
Before I visited Rome a few years ago, caio volunteered to give me his mobile number so I could ask him real-time questions while I was in Italy. And that's exactly what I did! So we didn't quite get a chance to actually meet in person, but it was fun to chat with him while we were in the same country.
Not much more to say right now. Just R.I.P. to icaio, he will always be a Steamgifts legend.
