Though i have to say, i don't think that it's confirmed 100% - seems like trolling or misleading to me. Since some guys pointed out, that his steam account actually activated a game on 10th of October. This contradicts the death at the 30th of September.

I'm confused. Maybe it's a translation issue or different news sources having wrong info but one article says 49 one says 50. Not a big difference but then one says powder residue and one says liquid. Also autopsy is listed as two different doctors. Obviously the articles are about the same case but I don't understand the inconsistency of facts.

It's entirely possible that someone saw canis's public comment asking if icaio was ok, decided to be a terrible person, pretended to have a close relationship, and say the worst has happened.

It's everyone right to be in denial about things, but it takes a certain kind of person to come to a topic about one's death, and instead a simple "RIP" or SILENCE they just enounce that they know it's fake because people are horrible. It's possible to be in denial, or having doubts, but that this is the single thing you felt important to add is more upsetting for me that the guy who wanted 5 minutes of spotlight.

To be fair: the "I know it's fake" part is about the articles and kevinxz's claims, not about icaio's presumable fate. I don't think Zelrune posted this in bad faith. It was a reaction to kevinxz's behaviour. The rest is just what you wrote: having doubts, which is understandable in this situation.

You don't need to write in "bad faith" to stroll into a topic, make a statement that you believe they are dead if they still offline for a few months, like some fucked up vampire-alarm system. It's extremely bad taste, compared to one can just... not do this all.
It also makes you wonder that if some people get their kick out of "we'll see smirk-smirk" when you kick the bucket, and you don't have a designated and pre-approved next of kin to deliver the news to the random people of the internet. There aren't really people around with "proof?" for a reason.

Thank you for that explanation. Part of me hopes this is just someone's cruel prank and icacio will come back to a bunch of RIP messages from people who thought he was dead. I think we've crossed a lot of lines in these few hours, where speculation, hypotheses and presumptions collide and mix.
The last two (edit: probably three) lists of nested comments I saw really made me feel bad, since a very powerful medium, like the news, was used in a completely wrong way, as an object of vanity.
I am sure that if I wrote my name on the web, many death news would appear regarding me, not only in Italy, but also in other parts of the world. This is because not everything that happens in the world is told on the web (or maybe there is too much, depends).
The presumption of knowing something about a person is in itself a wrong thing. Even if I knew many things about that person, for instance because I am their best friend, why would I reveal them to everyone? With the sole purpose of making news? I wouldn't act like a friend. Now let's restore some dignity to a person who (could, but I hope not and who took a break) passed away in this world, whether as a person, friend or legend on SG. Thanks

This is not about you or the thread in general, wiggle. While we can't be 100% sure about his fate, mourning someone who is presumably dead, is understandable, even if it turns out to not be true. Especially in a situation like this, where it is unlikely that we will get any verified information about if it's actually true.
Spreading false rumours, linking unrelated news articles about an unrelated person's death and claiming they are about this is not ok. And I don't even know what that other person wrote.
Seems like you missed the worst behaviour in the past couple of hours. Hopefully it's over now. People have been rightfully suspended or outright banned/deleted.

I rarely visit forums nowadays so these sad news almost missed me if not for Paul's GA description... From my time around I still remember icaio being one of the brightest rays of sunlight this community ever had to offer. Hey all. I am going to start by saying that I do not have any more information than what I am sharing in this post.
EDIT: as it turns out, I do have some more information
As some of you know, icaio has not been on SG for a while, and he hasn't logged into his Steam profile either.
I posted on his Steam profile a few weeks ago, just a quick note saying I hoped he was okay.
Yesterday I received a friend request on Steam from someone I did not recognize. I didn't see any obvious red flags, so I accepted.
This new friend sent me a message today, saying that they were icaio's cousin, and they saw my post on his profile and wanted to let me know that icaio passed away on September 30.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that icaio was an absolute legend of Steamgifts. His generosity, sense of humor and thoughtfulness came through in every 'showerthinking' post and every 'trash' game giveaway and every time he helped to solve a derailment in the community train.
Before I visited Rome a few years ago, caio volunteered to give me his mobile number so I could ask him real-time questions while I was in Italy. And that's exactly what I did! So we didn't quite get a chance to actually meet in person, but it was fun to chat with him while we were in the same country.
Not much more to say right now. Just R.I.P. to icaio, he will always be a Steamgifts legend.
