This is extremely sad news. Icaio was one of the first people I think of relating to SG. He was very generous and I've only seen him have positive interactions with others on here. He really added to the SG culture on here. I hope his passing was peaceful. RIP Icaio.

It's always so surreal to know of an internet-acquaintance's passing. It's like reading fiction, but finding out in the end it's non-fiction.
Had just last week finished a game I won from him, but there's still a couple more untouched, and they'll be higher up in my to-play queue now.
R.I.P. icaio; I'd miss his showerthoughts and comments too.
And thank you canis for notifying to bring a closure for us who wondered where he went.

I normally don't post on discussions because there are some very strong personalities here and people are quick to take offense, as I continue to encounter even today.
But not icaio... He was one of the good ones. His posts were energetic and over the top, and brought a smile many a times.
May we all learn from his example and carry on his memory.
May he and his family find peace.

That is a right kick in the teeth. Over the years it's always been a pleasant surprise to drop in and see icaio being icaio. He brought a certain energy to SG that will be sorely missed.
My condolences to the close friends and family. Rest in peace icaio.

Oh :(
I, too, have valued icaio as a steam friend. I found him generous, funny, kind, and interested in what others had to say (an undervalued trait). He has had periods of inactivity before so did not think much of this recent one. Really sad news, thank you for letting us know.

RIP :(
This is all too sudden, it felt like he was still with us just a while ago. Your kindness and generosity will be missed. You did so much for the community, and it's not going to be the same without you.

This is bullshit! icaio usually goes offline for long periods. The last time he went offline for 3 months or so. I really hope the guy who claimed to be his cousin is just trolling
Edit: Have you thought of giving him a call if you still have his number?

where do you see game activations on someones profile?
last I checked that is in friend activity only, from the outside all activities on the profile seem to have stopped as of Sep 30th(no new wishlists, no game activity, no being online, and so on)

hmmmm.... If you look at the older badges you will see the year... so def. 10 October is from this year.

Could it be that a profile limited game is not limited anymore and now gives +1 to library? Not sure how exactly this works.

I would hope someone wouldn't be that terrible but I also hope you're right and he's just away.

I did think of that, but unfortunately I have a different phone and he is not in my WhatsApp contacts on the new phone.
Someone else mentioned that the person claiming to be his cousin could be trolling or messing with me. I will say that definitely did not seem to be the case... but you never know.
If it turns out that caio is fine, I will be very very happy to delete this post.

I am really shocked, he was really friendly with me when I spoke to him here and I felt more of a "connection" with him since we were both italians. That's sad, RIP Icaio

A few giveaways in memory of icaio. Hope it's just a very stupid troll and he comes back like, I guess you missed me, huh?

Hey all. I am going to start by saying that I do not have any more information than what I am sharing in this post.
EDIT: as it turns out, I do have some more information
As some of you know, icaio has not been on SG for a while, and he hasn't logged into his Steam profile either.
I posted on his Steam profile a few weeks ago, just a quick note saying I hoped he was okay.
Yesterday I received a friend request on Steam from someone I did not recognize. I didn't see any obvious red flags, so I accepted.
This new friend sent me a message today, saying that they were icaio's cousin, and they saw my post on his profile and wanted to let me know that icaio passed away on September 30.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that icaio was an absolute legend of Steamgifts. His generosity, sense of humor and thoughtfulness came through in every 'showerthinking' post and every 'trash' game giveaway and every time he helped to solve a derailment in the community train.
Before I visited Rome a few years ago, caio volunteered to give me his mobile number so I could ask him real-time questions while I was in Italy. And that's exactly what I did! So we didn't quite get a chance to actually meet in person, but it was fun to chat with him while we were in the same country.
Not much more to say right now. Just R.I.P. to icaio, he will always be a Steamgifts legend.
