How blasphemous of me to post a Onlive thread on a steam site.

But anyway, what do you guys think of the service if you already have it?

Well it does. Unless you suggest we each post a topic for the same thing...

I suggest that two posts are fine. Doesn't matter. Two discussions is okay.

Never used it but I want to some time. Steam is just so easy and convenient right now.

It's nice and direct playing, about price maybe not sales all the time but it's give you a chance to play a game for 30 minutes so you can see if you want the game or no.

The quality is great, the real issue is click-latency. Do not expect to do well in any sort of multiplayer game. I also prefer to have a copy of my game somewhere and onlive obviously doesn't do that.

Onlive is useful for trying out games that have no demo. Note, however, they will permanently store your credit card info, even if u tell them to delete your account.

I think it is a good idea, but I have Comcast so I think it would make me hit my 250 gig a month limit really quick...

Sadly, it's not really available in Europe. If so I would've tried it :)

It sounds like a cool idea, though you get rid of more of your rights "owning a videogame"!

I'm betting on it being more popular and viable in a decade when universal internet speeds are raised. Right now it's just a decent oddity.

I felt blasphemous mentioning it in a thread about a week ago. I think it's freaking awesome. I usually reserve actual judgment of the service because it depends on internet speed. I recommend trying the app and playing a 30 min trial of anything single player, then try unreal multiplayer with a 30 min trial. I cant wait till it works on android :D

having a junk pc and great internat connection at the same time would make it the perfect platform. yet, here in turkey, 4mbit connection can't handle onlive's demands, so the program won't even run. i can watch other's games on ipad though...

anyway, i believe in the future platforms like onlive will remove the need to constantly upgrade hardware and allow ppl to play games in a cheaper way. but it will need a few more years..

I tried it. It was kinda weird. Some games looked just fine, and others were really blurry and lo-res. Also I had noticeable input latency, which would make several genres of games hard to play. If we invent some kind of zero-latency internet in the future, cloud-gaming would be awesome. For now, I prefer to be playing the game on my local machine.

In principle, a good idea for people who just can't afford a console or a decent PC, or who want to more easily take their gaming on the go (assuming they have access to a decent connection there). I don't like how you're only buying access to the game on these servers though, and if they ever go down then, well, you can't even keep a backup like you can on Steam. Lack of mod support is another big downside for me.
