The Complete Python 3 Course: Beginner to Advanced!
Learn Python with projects covering game & web development, web scraping, MongoDB, Django, PyQt, and data visualization!

I think this is mostly a generic Python course. (A long one, 18.5 hours)
But it also has a game programming component.
Enjoy :)

Very very true! I have a big problem with just starting too. It's horrible. But if you find a subject that interests stop stressing yourself and hit the freaking play button, watch for 10 minutes. If it still actually peaks your interest then it will be much easier to do the rest of the course.
At least video courses beat the hell out of reading a 300 page book. :)

I don't know if that will work for you but what helps my motivation is watching some Ludum Dare videos on Youtube.

For the moment, I regularly watch youtube GDC curated videos that are regularly published for free from old confs or very recently like September 2017 : Building VR Communities: Asymmetry, Asynchrony, and Abuse (VRDC FALL 2017, 60 min), multiplayer VR done right, actually.

They really cover lots of various interesting topics. Videos are 30 min, 60 min, 90 min-lengthed max, well captured, illustrated and instructive.
Like Awesome Video Game Data 2017 60 min, a few days ago.

While udemy courses are of varying lengths and quality, most of them are here only because they got promoted with free coupons by their respective authors, while there are probably awesome tutorials that aren't in promotional loops.
This is ok if you have no courses in your library. But now, I am accumulating them by hundreds, this is pointless and this is probably true for some other regular here people too imho.

I am thinking about how to change the OP "formula" and any suggestion is welcome.

EDIT/PS : Another nice recently (2017/10/21) published video : Animation Bootcamp: An Indie Approach to Procedural Animation 26 min, 2014 GDC

Object-Oriented JavaScript - Second Edition at Packt. Not directly game related, but can be useful. For example RPG Maker MV uses Javascript.

(That's actually the first book from those I got that I'm going to read, because I did try my hand at some MV scripting and it might do me good to learn some more JavaScript instead of count on my knowledge of other programming languages.)

Thank you. I saw the electronic components one on UdempyCoupon (https://udemycoupon.learnviral.com/ for anyone interested), but didn't catch the programming one. Where did you find it? I'd like to have access to as many of these temporarily free resources as possible, especially anything for Python, Godot, etc.

Permalink

Thanks for the links. I really enjoyed that GDC talk, as it's something I'd best know better.

I'd really like some more talks/content about music and sound design and how certain elements of it might affect the player/experience. Do you have any you might recommend? I saw the GDC DOOM music producer's talk regarding his journey to making the music for the game, and it was interesting, but I'd like more content regarding impact on how the player feels. Art or story design discussions/talks centered around this concept would be useful as well.

FCC seems to have some interesting content, but I've only got Python 3 to work with right now, and it doesn't seem they teach it despite having articles for it. I'd like to find some better sources than a few pdfs and Udemy courses, since I feel they hand-hold too much. If you have any resources to suggest to promote strong growth and understanding for Python or Godot, they would be appreciated.

I might drop links in the thread again if I find something decent for game development. That site Peterlol mentioned posts the discounted courses sooner than the one I was going to before.

Sometimes, or even regularly, this audio asset store blog has some good articles about audio making / designing https://www.asoundeffect.com/blog/
If you intend to do some "serious" effort about game audio making, there is a free mentoring program here : http://audiomentoring.com/
Lastly, I have watched this video about Shepard tones in audio : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVWTQcZbLgY

Yes, FCC is mainly about web centered technologies.
For python 3, I don't know what you are looking for, doing with or why. But I can refer you to classic http://www.diveintopython3.net/

For Godot, if not done yet, I invite you to join https://discord.gg/zH7NUgz people are quite talkative and helpful, plus a channel is dedicated to curate Godot related tutorials.

For udemy specific coupons, I mainly curate on main RSS feed of https://udemycoupon.org
Also, I am using this quick and dirty userscript to help "buying" free courses faster. Be careful, because, you won't have time to check if you really want to add a given course (and your udemy library might be overcrowded with hundred of courses you will never use, if it happens use the "favorite" feature...).

Replace "Gratuit" in code below by "Free" or equivalent word for your local language :

// ==UserScript==
// @name         Udemy Coupon Helper
// @namespace    Omicron666.script
// @version      0.1
// @description Auto use udemy coupons.

// @require      https://code.jquery.com/jquery-3.2.1.min.js
// ==/UserScript==

(function() {
    'use strict';

    if (/www\.udemy\.com/.test(location.href)){
        let link = $('.buy-box:contains(Gratuit)').find('a[data-purpose="buy-this-course-button"]').prop('href');
        if (link){
            window.location = link;
        }
    }

    if (/www\.udemy\.com\/cart\/checkout\/course\//.test(location.href)){
        //if($('div.sc-checkout-box__discount-percentage:contains(100 % de réduction)')){
        setTimeout(function() {$('button[data-purpose="complete-payment"]').click();},1000);
        //}
    }

    if (/https\:\/\/udemycoupon.org\/coupon/.test(location.href)){
        window.location = $('a[id^="coupon-link"]').prop('href');
    }

    if (/https\:\/\/onlinecourses.ooo/.test(location.href)){
        window.location = $('a[id^="coupon-link"]').prop('href');
    }

    if (/https\:\/\/coupontry.com/.test(location.href)){
        window.location = $('a[id^="coupon-link"]').prop('href');
    }

})();

Also, completely unrelated, this is probably the next course I will follow : http://course.fast.ai/
Main blog : http://www.fast.ai/
Hopefully, the best online course about Deep Learning. And this is in Python ;-)
(Python 2, though, apparently)

When you open one of udemy coupon links posted here, it will just automatically press the buy button. (it works only if you were previously logged in udemy website I think. It is just a handy little time-saver if you have many links to open with coupons to use).

And if you open one of coupon page of https://udemycoupon.org (or one of its domain clone), it clicks to open the corresponding udemy page.

Thank you again for the links. ASE and DIP3 look like good resources, so I'll be sure to browse those for a while to see if I find any useful content. I prefer self study, so these sources should do me wonders. I'm already a part of the Godot Disc channel as well, but largely ignored their tutorial channels (they seemed too cluttered to me). I might take another glance, since you've suggested it.

This deep learning course looks interesting. I have a 980ti, so I should be able to get into it (though, I might like to study more first). I could probably follow the course and adjust it to Py3 since the syntax is quite similar, wouldn't you agree? I'll bookmark the links you gave me for further reference either way. Thanks again, Omicron.

Quickly answering before leaving home. Syntax is similar but libraries not necessarily accessible in both version. But from what I have read, people are using both with little adaptation, so it should be fine using any. There is a dedicated linked forum for each course part.
