took me 4 attempts at the captcha to get rising hell, though slain went through fine the first try. pretty sure i was picking the right images but it just said something went wrong check your internet and try again. 15-20 minutes later i tried again and it worked

Don't bother with getting Rising Hell. It's literally unplayable. With the keyboard, it's just not really possible to move at the speed you need to (or maybe I'm just not physically that fast), and with the controller ... well, if you don't mind mashing the buttons every 3 seconds going "Why isn't this working? It was literally JUST working!" then go ahead. Seriously, I "played" like 1 minute of it then deleted it. I have a wireless XBox360 controller that works just fine with literally every other game I have ever played, but for some stupid reason with this game and only this game, it's like every 3-5 seconds the game just forgets that I have a controller. It eventually starts working again ... for another 3-5 seconds.

I played the demo on Steam during the last demo event with a controller and I'm playing it on the EGS with a controller now and I haven't had any issues with it. I'm using an Microsoft 4N6-00001 Xbox Controller which I believe came out in 2019.

Valve doesn't add achievements to games they don't own either, it's up to the devs, not all games on Steam (or GOG for that matter) have achievements.

As for Steam, EGS and GOG, i know for a fact that it's up to the devs to make the decision to add achievements or not (sometimes after discussions with the publisher).
Neither of those platforms will force achievements.
As for mods, you can create and use mods on games from EGS, only took me a few seconds to Google that.

yes, unlike EGS many steam games are also verified for Mac/Linux and those that run on steam deck also . However I don't know how to install mods on EGS. On steam with workshop is all automatic for each game that support it

It's mostly because the devs/publishers know no one's gonna buy their game on Epic so they put no effort into it. Epic's already paid the devs off in most cases, although I was surprised Cris Tales has achievements when they weren't listed on the store page or anything so sometimes you'll get a surprise

They're there.. If you actually play the game they'll pop up like steam does. But you have to access the epic overlay to view which ones you got. I played the game for a couple of hours months ago

Shift+F3 is the default keybind, I think it's enabled by default.. just like Origin or Uplay. It's not very useful, but it's there if you want to check for achievements

For info, this is one kind of EGS achievements. There is another kind which has XP tied to them, and which can be viewed on your EGS profile. Both can be viewed with Shift+F3, but the XP ones are better due to the integration with your profile.

Yeah other clients have way better tracking and features, but ironically I use epic for Dead by Daylight because it runs better on epic than it does steam on my budget laptop.
The one thing epic is good for is it has barely any bloat, so there's the rare occasion a game might run better. Everything else I use steam for though, and DBD was still a freebie. I've only bought a couple of games on epic

I haven't used nexus anymore since the workshop is there. for me the workshop is better because it is easier to use. to create a mod on steam every game has its tools and to install just click on the subscribe button and the mods are installed automatically

I agree that workshop it's extremely easy. But I find it easier to search mods and I won't use it because they don't allow adult mods. Not because I always use them, but it's the principle of it. I don't want valve or any other company to decide which mods are acceptable.

I like to have achievements because its another thing to guide me through the game. I like to look back how I have finished the game - to see how much of the game I finished and whether I want to get back to. I am not going to download 50 fucking gigabytes of game to check internal stats. I am also busy and I can't play for million hours and explore every little detail of the game. From achievements I can have a feeling of progression and to see when I've delved into the game enough. Its like receiving a medal after a marathon for example - what do you call that? Why would I need a medal on the wall in my room? For petty reasons to show it to others or to feel better about myself when I look back and see what I've done?

Implementing achievements on steam isn't the same as implementing achievements on epic or any other stores. It can take more time to implement and test them properly, especially if they never do that before. Imagine having to replace a screen in a nokia phone just because you are an expert in replacing a screen in samsung phones. Or having to change a wallpaper in mac although you have used windows in your whole life.
Plus, they have to maintain a lot of different builds depending on the amount of the storefront the game is selling to. Having no achievement in the game will at least ease up the process.
In short, it can take a lot of resources and effort to do, and that's not epic's fault. Epic already has achievements available in their platform so developer can integrate it to their games if they want to. They just don't.

I don't believe you understand how this works. I'm likely pissing into the wind, but allow me to explain.
Every time you claim a free game on EGS, the developers or publishers of that game get paid. Just by using EGS to claim the free games, you're adding to the platform's user count. Both of these factors contribute to more developers and publishers using EGS.
If you really disliked EGS as much as you claim, you wouldn't use the platform at all, and you certainly wouldn't be supporting developers and publishers (along with the platform itself) by collecting the free games. You would uninstall EGS and delete your account.
Also, nearly everyone here knows by now of your dislike for EGS. There's no need to remind people every week when the thread is bumped with new information. I promise you, no one particularly cares whether or not you like or dislike EGS (nor do they care if anyone else likes/dislikes EGS), especially in this thread, and all you're accomplishing by regularly posting your opinion of the platform is diluting useful information in the thread and annoying other users.

You're misusing the word "hypocrite." Saying a game has achievements and the same game on EGS doesn't while not playing any of the games isn't hypocrisy at all. It's a statement of fact. I don't need to own a Cadillac and a Ferrari to tell you which is faster, do I? And I'm certainly not a hypocrite for not driving either.

Nowhere have I defended Bambi's behavior. In point of fact, I've done the opposite here.. Condemning one person's bad behavior isn't condoning another's. I truly don't believe I'm better than you or anyone else.. For instance, it's why you'll never see me calling anyone "leech" around here. I despise the word. However, I do get these rare moments of clarity when a whole group of people are annoying the fuck out of me and I decide to try to be reasonable and (try to) end the conflict.
But yeah, you're right. I shouldn't have said anything, and just reported everyone involved for being disruptive. It would have served me better than trying to reason with Bambi (I did try up there somewhere) or anyone else. I'll definitely keep it in mind for the future, but no promises.

To be fair "bambi350" does spam, this topic in particular, a lot. Mostly with inane ramblings about achievements or damn that evil EPIC store. While in fact they don't even play any of their 4000+ Steam games for more than a single hour and they most definitely don't get any achievement which requires playing the game for more than 30 minutes. So one can only assume they are trolling or seeking attention which is exactly what the other users (myself included two times) have done. I personally don't mind them much and find their ramblings amusing.

And honestly, I don't give a damn what he plays and what he doesn't. You don't need to have achievements yourself to want them on both platforms. While I don't condemn EGS for it (and I'm obviously not as vehement about it as Bambi appears to be), I believe a game's purchase price should entitle one to all the extras, regardless of where it's purchased. That includes things like achievements, cross-play, VOIP, soundtracks, and any number of other things. If I were to "rant" about anything (not that I care enough about any of this shit to rant about it), it's that EGS users are still using Steam forums for game discussions (including technical help), since EGS doesn't want to include forums in their client.

I do agree with you on that, they don't deserve to be attacked unless they themselves are attacking others (which I don't think bambi350 is doing), but it does seem like they're looking for attention to me. They seem childlike or at the very least very naïve in my opinion so I mostly ignore them. The two post I did address at them were always meant as jokes.
I don't think anyone really likes EGS, but repeating the same point ad nauseam to a crowd that already agrees with you like "bambi350" is doing, is bound to annoy people. I don't like EGS either, but I also realize complaining it about it here isn't going to do anything. And I'm still going to take their free games and enjoy playing them.
Lastly if someone claims to really care about achievements, while not achieving anything that requires any effort but still pretending that they do, then they certainly seem very disingenuous to me. It's different if they were honest but still felt all systems should have achievements.

I'm pretty happy about Alba: A Wildlife Adventure, I had it on my wishlist and thinking about buying it - money saved.
Already owned Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, but it's a good game, so it's nice for people to have an opportunity to get them - especially for the low price of free :P
