I was tempted to get Gods Will Fall with the coupon. Now I'm glad I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Tbh that's the problem with Epic giving free games every week, don't get me wrong i love that and would still take the free games happily but whenever i laid an eye for a game in that store, even when it has a great deal the first thing came to my mind would be "Maybe it will be free later, so i won't bother buying it.."
Which is why Epic lost so much profit, it's like a double edge sword for them..
Comment has been collapsed.
If I'm not mistaken you could get a refund as long as you bought it within a certain amount of days of the game going free. It might be the same amount of time as the normal refund policy, which is 14 days. You may want to send in a support ticket asking about it just to make sure.
Other info: The normal refund policy is also like Steam where you can't have over 2 hours of play time. I believe when it comes to the game going free the play time isn't a factor.

I already have the three TR games but happy gaming to everyone getting it

Yeah, they put CAPTCHA when traffic is 2 much 2 handle. I remember when they gave out GTA V and the whole site collapsed for half a day lmao

Why TF would anyone make free accounts, grab the freebies, then try to sell the accounts when someone could just make their own account and grab the games themselves? Hard to imagine there are enough people dumb enough to pay for freebies to make something like that worth doing.
Comment has been collapsed.
Create account now, grab free games.
Wait for the games to not be free and then sell the account to someone that wasn't aware they were free.
I assume that's the mindset the people are working with. I've grabbed every damn freebie they've served so far, if I did that with another account I care 0% about I would be able to sell that for quite a bit I'd wager.

In all candor, Epic is starting to win some serious goodwill from me with these giveaways merely given the stark contrast to their primary competitor in Steam. Yes, their launcher and community remain subpar, they only just managed to integrate a shopping cart in the store, while I'm primarily duplicating games already in my Steam library with their offerings... but what has Valve offered of late? "Stickers" during the holiday and really hideous profile backgrounds? A point shop with predominantly tacky emoticons, only of use to those who value spamming them in idle chat? I use Steam for the games not the social features, thus the platform providing them for free is superior.
Besides, I appreciate the semblance of what Steam used to be in the Epic store: a curated experience of AAA and AA titles with a few high-production independents, not a glut of dumpster-quality asset flips, Chinese knockoffs and babys-first-RPGMaker grime.

You do realize Epic can't keep up this facade forever. Unlike you I know what they really are, and no amount of 'free' games can buy my support or make me forget.
They already lost a lot of goodwill by buying releases and pulling them from Steam at the last minute after preorders. Metro Exodus is a great example. These games are just another cheap tactic.
Valve does not need to bend over for your support, or offer you anything to stay. Your post clearly shows you are here for the freebies, and will be gone once they end.
Comment has been collapsed.
Check my account, here and on Steam.
Now compare your own.
Then, just to clarify, read my post again.
You'll note that I levied some valid criticism against Epic and that, at no point, did I defend their business practices. I did, however, state that the "freebies" are effective at winning some "goodwill" from me. I stand by that point, despite already owning the overwhelming majority of complementary games they've offered.
Why? Because, to reiterate it's more than Steam has offered in years. Lest you're too young or addled to know, Steam once gave vouchers and coupons to loyal customers and active accounts during the holidays; they once held massive giveaways during Summer events; they once hosted a contest whose winner was given a limited amount of time to add as many games to their account as they wanted without cost. Steam was once a bastion of quality, curated content and community-involvement. Of late, their inclinations in that regard seem rather on par with Valve's ability to develop a videogame.
So... how about you rein in the edgelord whiteknighting until you've a more sophisticated reading comprehension, huh? Valve doesn't need you leaping to their defense (particularly when it's meritless), nor does your accusation bear scrutiny.

Facade? Make you forget?
Wow, your comment is really out there..

Have to agree with this.
I have a quite large Steam library and, for the first time ever, I spent a lot of money on Epic Store during this sale.
As Graye said, while Steam is offering stickers, points and other assorted useless crap, Epic is allowing me, for instance, to buy Hitman 3 for 14€ or Inscryption for 6€.
...And I'll add the legendary 2011 Winter Sale coal contest to the list of given examples, where the winner would have right to ALL the games in Steam library or the ARG's or the flash sales or... many other things that, simply, don't exist anymore on Steam.
Heck, even if we take the Epic vouchers out of the picture, the Steam store doesn't have competitive prices for a very long time now.

The sales on epic are nice, for now. But the one huge advantage Steam has over epic is dev support, and this doesn't only apply to Epic, it applies to GOG as well. If the devs can't update their games on a platform with the absolute newest build, there's no reason to choose it over steam if you're going to actually play those games.
A couple of examples for me would be Among Us and Celeste. Last time I tried running Among Us I couldn't log in to the in game account, and it'd force me to log in as a guest which has privileges restricted. Celeste would crash on launch half the time and I couldn't find a fix for that. Both use different builds than Steam, although I haven't bought Celeste on steam so I'm not sure if the steam version would also crash. It's also up to the devs to implement achievements and cloud saves, and many of them haven't currently. Basically the games need to sell well enough on Epic or GOG for devs/publishers to care and I don't see that happening for a long time. The support just isn't there yet so I've only bought Tony Hawk for now.

I agree with you.

Chicken or the egg:

For me EGS sales are not even close to Steam sales, bacause I can sell tradeable items and receive many various games almost for free on Steam.

Wasn't their budget cut for this year for promos (free games?) I'd expect even more repeats. Just glad we get more free stuff for another year.
Hope they give away Subnautica again. First game and... rip.
Comment has been collapsed.
I they said the same last year. At some point i read somewhere that they were going to end the free games deals forever, but i think that was supposed to happend last early last year.

anyone know a way to check your epic account and get an actual number of how many games you own? im curious how many of these free games ive claimed since they started doing it, but legit cant find out how many games i own. and i refuse to count 200+ games out by hand lol

I use Playnite, it has many more integrations and also a 'random game' feature which I use often
Comment has been collapsed.
I highly recommend Launchbox. It has deep customization (just in the free version alone), and can import tons and TONS of platforms, the usual suspects and even Amazon Prime Games. Also, if you sort by status it will separate all your GOG, UPLAY, STEAM etc all in their own categories. Perfect for someone who collects games from multitudes of platforms.
Comment has been collapsed.
Gog galaxy kinda does the same though you need an external plugin to add amazon prime or humble bundle. I might check out launchbox though, so thanks for the heads up.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, it does. I used to use GOG Galaxy, but the integration can be very glitchy sometimes where you'd have to constantly reintegrate your games.
Also, you can't really do much customization. Images for example, you can only replace with other 660 x 930 sizes, and depending on the size of the image, GOG Galaxy won't even accept it. Launchbox you can literally use any scale and any size, even allowing you to resize the overall scale of all your game box arts within the launcher using a slider.
The paid version BigBox grants you even more customization than the free version of Launchbox.
I honestly can go on and on and on about this, but in short, Launchbox is better because it is literally designed for this purpose, deep customization and multiple game integration, whereas GOG Galaxy treats it more like an additional feature since it mainly focuses on being a shop to purchase games.
Give Launchbox a spin sometime, and let me know what you think. Not enough people know about it and it's so good I just HAVE to share it with everyone!

i used playnite, but Launchbox sounds even better. ill try

It is a great mech game. Played it when it came to steam and had a lot of fun. Really hope more peeps pick it up so they can make a sequel XD.

I had some weirdness trying to get these 3 free DLC to add to my cart.
The way I got it to work was to click the little plus sign in the upper right corner of the thumbnail for each item to "add to wishlist," then go to my wishlist, where I could add all three to my checkout cart directly.
Comment has been collapsed.
EDIT: When I added the game to my library the 3 DLC were in my library as well.
Comment has been collapsed.
Where did you get that from? I have always had to add DLCs separately when they are free when they also have given away the base game.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, in the past when I would claim a game I would need to claim each DLC seperately. This time however when I claimed the game the 3 DLCs were also in my library.
Comment has been collapsed.
Might be something new they are trying to implement that doesnt seem to work for all. I still had to go into each addon and manually add them :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Here's an update. I just went on the EGS client again about a half hour ago and it was no longer showing the DLC as "In Library", and I manually had to add them like normal. So my guess is it was some kind of temporary visual bug(showed "in library", but didn't actually add them) that got triggered when I added the game.

Same here. Use this link to conveniently add them to your wishlist:

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair next week. Already given away

i remember backing this when the first game was on kickstarter - the customer support they had was so bad i ended up selling it for like £20 surprised it got a sequel - didn't think people liked it that much - not surprised it needs to be free for people to want it
