I have Windows 7 on my laptop (from work). Windows 8.1 on the HTPC, and up until yesterday - on my home desktop (I just upgraded to Windows 10). Windows 7 on both of my woman's laptops (she has two - an 11.6" netbook and an 18.5" desktop-replacement).

Back in the day I installed many operating systems on my desktop PC (various Linux flavors, FreeBSD, OS/2, Solaris x86, BeOS to name but a few), but as interesting as this experiment was, none was enticing enough to use regularly. I used Mac OS X occasionally at work, but not being a fan of Apple or their pricing makes them a non-starter for personal use, especially when I'm so dependent on some Windows-only applications which I couldn't find decent equivalents of for Mac (or ones I'd want to invest the effort to learn to the same level or the money).

I go back to Windows 7 after brief using Windows 10 :)
And until I will not see nice released games on DX12 I will not go for Win 10 :)
Anyway primary reason Win 10 is banned for HWBOT users :)

I got student licence from my uni for Win 10 and I don't regret installing it. In my opinion it's the best Windows ever made. When I'm working I also use Linux (Linux Mint mostly) mainly for C++ programming and server administration.

So far have bad experience upgrading to windows 10 on 2 computers. Upgrading on my laptop make all my characters in chrome and some other places shown in lower resolution so i revert back to 8.1 on my laptop and my working desktop after a windows update and restart kills it. BSOD on every start up after the update before loading to windows and after several auto reboot, motherboard dead with all port unusable.

Upgraded to Windows 10 since yesterday. The bugs have been rather bothersome.

Windows 10. Everything is working fine as if I was using Win 8.1, except the times where the search in the task bar takes awhile to complete searches.

Windows 7, because I don't like 8, and I don't want to use 10 because I don't like it if someone's spying on me, and that terrible popup made me think it's bad anyway.

Windows 7 64-bit. If Windows 10 becomes better overtime with game compatibility then I'll switch to that.

Windows 7. When support for W7 will end, I will do W10 + Ubuntu.

Still Windows 7. I considered upgrading for Windows 10, then I said "fuck this shit" and I'm still with Windows 7... Fuck the free upgrade. I'll upgrade when I'll be ready, and I'm not ready.

I'm interested what those three "others" are. Since Steam can only run on Windows, OS X, and a number of Linux distros, I really wonder what are those people running and their reason to be on a site that deals in games they couldn't even start.

Whatever it is, they could use a different OS "mainly" (as the poll asks) and an OS supported by Steam (directly or in a VM) for games.

But I'm curious too :-)

Heh, same here. But since I plan to switch my graphics card and the AV I use in May, I think it'll be time to get Win10 finally.

All of them.
Win 7 on my main Steam computer. Windows is still the way to go for most of the games.
OSX on my laptop where I can play a lot of stuff that doesn't make it overheat. (Mainly using that one)
Linux Ubuntu on my daughter's computer but I'm planning to go for Mint.

Windows 8.1 on the main machine for gaming and programming on visual studio.
Windows 10 on my laptop which I take to uni and do programming assignments on breaks.
I also use a rpi 2 as a media center with openelec on it.
I always try linux and then come back to windows because i'm too absorbed by the ecosystem, I have to use VS for a couple of my courses, Skype is my main communication program which doesnt work that well for me on linux and a lot of the games I enjoy are Windows only :<
