I'd vote for Witcher2, if only because one npc is named Dennis Lyxzen.

  • I hope they release their modtools this week, or atleast give a date for the release.

I had played both. Both of them are great games. Begin with the Witcher 2 it is a little bit better and sure you must also play Skyrim. Skyrim is a fantastic game. It is a heavy decision.

I had also played both. The Witcher 2 is like 10-30 hours of playing. You can finish the game few times in this playtime. You can also play Skyrim. I've played there like 50-100 hours and I didn't even explore everything nor done all quests. And it's still fun to play this.

The Witcher 2 has a better and more focused story, plus it's a lot shorter, so you could play through that and get the entire experience in a significantly shorter time -- which means less burn out -- than in Skyrim. Once you're done with TW2, then move on to the open-world sprawling epic of Skyrim.

Skyrim if you want to wander around identical caves and ruins. Witcher 2 if you want story.

I would say Skyrim because of the story, the open-worldness, the mods (which I am addicted to itches self from withdrawal of downloading mods)...

The problem with Skyrim, is that you will probably never finish it (if you are like me). I have played 83 hours of it since I got it for the PC (more on Xbox) and have yet to finish it, and I am thinking of restarting... What happens is, I end up investing all of my skill points into stealth, so when I think I am going to use magic (mainly for Midas Magic) I end up not having enough levels left to get there, or I don't fight enough to do it... Plus I end up spending WAY too much time on looking for mods, testing the mods, uninstalling the mods, starting the game up because I crashed due to so many mods, and then I end up customizing my character the entire time (trying to look like a Sith Lord is hard when you don't have decent armor (Black Mage Armor works, using the light ebony version with the mask... Vampire red eyes...)...

Cool, I just came out of rehab to help me stop modding Just Cause 2.

There is hope, I haven't modded in weeks now and every-time I play a non-modded game my right hand shakes. It's just a side-effect.

Okay... I just can't even comprehend not modding... I want mods to do everything, but I'm so picky about them I don't install them and spend most of my time searching... Since I got Skyrim, I've play 83 hours... I have spent WAY more than that finding mods...

Don't waste your money with The Witcher 2. It has one of the worst (if not the worst) combat systems I've ever seen.

That is hilarious. I was just going to put that Skryim's combat is one of the worst combat systems I have seen. Witcher 2 is far better in the combat area than Skryim. Not really even close.

I think Witcher 2 has generally better (bigger) sales, so it might make sense to wait till one before buying it.

The Witcher. Story is sometimes better than open world.
(btw. Morrowind is far better than Skyrim. Morrowind on the Skyrim engine - imagine that ;P)

Witcher 2. Skyrim gets boring after a while. I mean, I have over 100 hours into it, but it all feels the same, kind of stale. The story is kind of boring imo.

The story, environment, combat etc in the Witcher 2 feel nicer to me.

Witcher 2, by far. Skyrim is your typical Bethesda game that wasn't even bug tested, and is basically just an empty map with very little to actually do in said map.

Plus, you can get Witcher off GOG, a far superior service to Steam.

Or, if you buy the boxed version of TW2 you can also activate it on GOG for a digital copy as well.
