Two other volunteers, both German citizens, were injured. Road2Relief's efforts are entirely focused on civilian projects: the evacuation of civilians in war zones, medical evacuation, humanitarian aid distribution to frontline communities, and the provision of mobile clinics that assist local residents who are unable to leave their homes.
They make every effort every day to mitigate the consequences of the systematic terror of civilians by the russian occupiers. A painful, irreparable loss. Emma and Anthony will forever be in our hearts.

My school was pretty close to one of the bombing sites. Information was scarce, we knew that some of our classmates lived on Kashirskoye shosse, and several kids were late. I remember how scared I was. Fortunately, all of them ended up safe and sound, but that was pretty awful for a 14-year-old anyway. Damn, that September was scary for everyone in Moscow. Imagine living in a huge city where literally any building full of people can explode right when you're sleeping peacefully. So yeah, some parts of the whole story might seem comical in hindsight and from a totally different area, but it wasn't funny there and then. It was a nightmare.
These days, for me this whole story is about the fact that Putin murdered and terrorized his own citizens long before he moved his operations abroad and was finally recognized for what he is.

The torture used by the Russian military against Ukrainian civilians and prisoners of war has reached such a level that it can be called a systemic, state-endorsed policy, said UN Special Rapporteur on Torture Alice Jill Edwards.

A must read - OPINION: 10 World War II Myths the Kremlin Wants You to Believe (I selected a few)
1- “The Great Patriotic War” began on June 22, 1941. Moscow has long taught that World War II began when Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union. They conveniently forget to mention that it actually began nearly two years earlier, on Sept. 1, 1939, when Germany invaded Poland, and that the Soviet Union was then allied with Germany and concluded a secret pact to divide Poland between them – a division by which Moscow also swallowed the independent Baltic states.
2- The USSR hated Nazism. Anti-Nazi and anti-fascist pre-war propaganda ceased in 1939 with the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact mentioned above, whereby Moscow and Berlin would divide Eastern Europe. Having fallen into league with the Nazis, the Soviet propaganda machine turned its attention to attacking the British, who had “launched the war against Germany.” Not until after the Nazis invaded the USSR, in June 1941, did anti-Nazi slogans return to Soviet society.
6- The Soviets alone defeated Hitler. Even Stalin did not believe this lie, as he had to admit that without the tanks, planes, trucks, steam locomotives, gunpowder, explosives, steel, aluminum, fuel, clothes, shoes, stew and powdered eggs, received thanks to America’s Lend-Lease, any victory would have been out of the question – not to mention the key role of Allied military action in opening a new front in the West.
7- The Allies did not want a second front in France. To the contrary: Churchill and Roosevelt understood who Stalin was and what he might do in Europe, which he was conquering, so they tried to get to Berlin faster than the Russians.
8- The Soviet soldiers were unanimously heroic. In reality the Soviets had “penalty companies” meant to prevent soldiers from retreating. “Not a step back” was the order of the day, and if soldiers disobeyed, then the consequence would be summary execution. Then there were the Russians of General Andrey Vlasov’s army, which collaborated with the Germans. They would not have existed if everything were as rosy as the Russian myth claims.
10- Europe was liberated by the Red Army. Eastern Europe was largely occupied and robbed, its peoples enslaved by Moscow for 45 years, often with methods as brutal as the Nazis’.

8 - also everyone knows about Stalin's cruelty - gulags and "not a step back"

Russia can't win
[Twitter] - Russians do not understand why Ukrainians did not surrender. Why did Ukrainians not want to be part of the "great empire"? To be the "younger brother" of the Russians? Why were Ukrainians not afraid of Wagnerites and Kadyrovites?
Russians do not understand why the "operation" has been going on for 584 days already when it was planned to take Kyiv in three days and have a Russian army parade there. Instead, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already killed about 300,000 occupiers and are successfully destroying the Black Sea Fleet. Aircraft, military bases, infrastructure and logistics centers of the Russian army are being destroyed in the depths of Russia.
This is a war of freedom and justice against violence.
For Russia, this is an unjust, criminal war, since it is a war for their interests, supremacy and domination.
For Ukraine, it is a just war - an existential war for the survival and sovereignty of the nation.
Victory in war always belongs to those who are right, who are determined, patient, and devoted. Those, who have something and someone to defend at the cost of their lives, win the war.
Russian soldiers, no matter how hard Russian propaganda tries, have nothing and no one to defend. They are invaders, rapists, thieves, and murderers in a foreign land.
The ultimate victory in war belongs to those whose goals are just and moral. In war, the winner is not the strongest, but the one who does not give up and does not lose.
Ukraine will win!

Russia promised to "protect" these people from Ukrainians but instead mobilised all men and threw them into meat assaults, killing tens of thousands, and leaving their region in absolute ruin.
