You think
I thought this could happen after the steam gifting policy. You probably have lots of filters (or lots of owned games) since I can see about 300 giveaways after my filters are applied (filtered about 1600).
I wish we can have another Winter Event on SimGive this year and see if we can still get those 10 pages of giveaways :P

i filtered more than 6k so fair amount more. Steam gifting policy for me personally is the biggest problem as you can't buy gifts on sales etc.
Winter simevent would be great, if we had enough time 10 pages would be easy peasy :) and hope your newborn feels great. Still remember at the first day after hospital going at 3 am to the shop to search for milk for her as she wouldn't be able to breastfeed, stitches and other fun moments :D

No, SG is not dead. The simple definition of something being dead is that it shows no activity anymore. And we are far from that. Is SG dying then? No, it is not dying. Maybe activity has decreased a bit. But if you look at the community stats you will see that the percentage of unbundled games has been stable for the last three years.
Number of giveaway looks slightly different and we are below average. But there have been low months before which have been followed by months of higher contribution. So that is not a Problem either.
If there is a problem then it is the passive community of Steamgifts. Made for example a puzzle event this march. Hardly 20 People took part because the rest can't be bothered to use their brain for more than clicking on "Entry". And there have been other events on the forum which had the same problem. If you want to have more events in the forum people should actually take part in those availabe.
But as things grow bigger you tend to draw the unhealthy attention of less "ideal" people. My biggest gripe would be idiots not playing their SG wins. If the average user plays less than 50 % of his wins (Independent from game quality) why should I be bothered to spent money on gifting this. That is just depressing. Many games I gifted are personal favourites of mine, often games I even reviewed because they are really good games. And then the games are being ignored. Many user regard SG just as their Money printing machine of a take-out-vault.
So, as harsh as it may sound, every user who does not take part in the available events or has played less than 50 % of his wins has absolutely no right to complain about the state of SG. They are part of the problem. The least minimum of activity a gifter should be allowed to assume is that every SG user plays at minimum half of the games he won. And I mean playing. Not idling. Not "trying out" for 2 hours and noticing that is not "his type" of game.

I always try to participate in all events. But to be honest, I'm terrible at puzzles. There are other people like me too, so maybe more people try to participate in your event, but couldn’t end it.
So, don't give up on your events :)

there are a few groups dealing with GAs not being played as playing appreciate, actuallly playing games and others, don't see other means to make people behave like that
Participating in events takes time and not everybody is able to provide it. I'm joining most creating GAs events but I'm really bad at quiz and cryptic puzzles so you can't blame everybody for not entering those

luckily it's been some weeks that no more 100+ achievement games have been released and valve has this new investigation system so they can just make crap bundles but if they have no achievements or cards and are just made of shovelwares and asset flips they won't last long, the main problem is when they started to make 10 5000 achievements games per day

I also think that the general quality of bundles has fallen since the advent of Humble's monthly subscription. That's really been a detriment to the quality of giveaways on this site.

I wouldn't call it dead, but it's not what it once was. That's no fault of the site, of course. Steam's horrendous changes to its gifting policy, and in particular killing off the ability to store games in our inventories, has hurt SG enormously. There are some amazing folks out there willing to pay retail for a game and give it away here, but the vast majority of GAs are for discounted or bundled games. The effect of no longer being able to pick up a game on sale and store it in inventory to make a GA later can't be understated. Couple that with all the region craziness, and not knowing if the game you buy can be activated or even given to someone in another country, and everything just becomes a mess. There's really nothing that SG can do about it; it's rolling with the changes the best it can, but we'll have to hope Steam and other sites don't make any more damaging changes.

new EU rules I suppose, nothing scary although numbers are important for every internet site
but wonder if this "You will not be able to register again for one year, or until the date of your last pending suspension, whichever is greater." means that we can have Konrad back :)

Well, kind of. Thanks to no HB bundles and steam gift policy I see only 4 pages of giveaways and when I filter group GAs those are for one page so only 3 for public. Yeah I know, propably there are people with only 1 :)
Forum awesome celebrations are dead because of gift policy and no more awesome events like Let's train or Steamgifts Hunger Games
This remind me of SG simultanous event when there were about 10 pages of GAs only for that group :)
Just don't get me wrong there are still hundreds of awesome people here and worthy discussions in forum, propably I'm just old, bored and exhausted because of temperature
So have a the only thing you come in here. There are bunch of various lvl GAs with simple SG Tools filter
edit: one more i forgot to add because I'm old Albert Mort - Desert Heat
