So, this thread has two purposes.

First, I've read about this smartphone:
https://oneplus.net/2
It seems amazing, I believe it is the best priced smartphone as of now. I've read the company has a great customer service.

The specs:

Dimensions: 151.8 x 74.9 x 9.85 mm
Weight: 6.17 ounces (175 g)
Operating System: OxygenOS based on Android 5.1
CPU: 64-bit Qualcomm© Snapdragon™ 810 processor with 1.8GHz Octa-core CPUs
GPU: Adreno™ 430
RAM: 4 GB/3 GB LPDDR4
Storage: 64 GB/16 GB eMMC v5.0 (available capacity varies)
Display
Size: 5.5 inch
Resolution: 1080p Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels), 401 PPI
Type: LCD In-cell
Camera
Sensor: 13 Megapixel (1.3um)
Lenses: 6 lenses to avoid distortion and color aberration
Front Camera: 5 Megapixel - Distortion free
Sensors: Fingerprint, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Proximity and Ambient Light
Battery: Embedded rechargeable 3,300 mAh LiPo battery

At a price point of $389, pretty amazing for an unlocked phone, huh? I've been trying for quite some time to get one, as good as this phone is, it isn't sold to everyone, you need an invite to be able to purchase this cellphone, I've been trying to get one invite myself, but there are lots of entries...
That'd being said, If you'd like to help me move up -some- spots in the waiting queue, please let me know so I can send you my link.

THE GIVEAWAY
I'm running a whitelist giveaway for 5 copies of Duke Nukem: Project Manhattan. If you'd like to join, just reply in the comments what you think about this smartphone, or tell me some alternatives at this price-point, the GA will run for 4 days.

Just as with the Nexus devices, none are available in South Africa, unless I buy through 3rd party that export at a premium.
But, as with the Nexus, the specs are great and the device is minimalist and good looking.
I just hope the price stays competitive and don't switch to the norm once they've gotten some market share.

Yeah, shipping is pretty expensive when your country isn't directly supported, luckily enough, I have an address in the US, I hope you get to purchase a decent device at a fair price soon!

I've been holding onto my Note 4 now for a year, and haven't got the itch as I previously had after 6 months of buying a new phone.
Had most of the Samsung devices for review this year, but not really that impressed.

Thanks for the whitelisting! :)

I don't know anything about jailbroken phones. Personally I just use mine for the very very basics. Are you sure it won't overheat if used too heavily?

Hmmmm, Well, I don't know anything about jailbroken phones either, I think that's something you can do to iOS phones?
Not completely sure, but pretty hopeful.

Well.... i wanted to create almost the same topic like 3hrs ago about OPT. I got an invite yesterday and i still cant decide if i'll order my OPT.

The thing is i went to OnePlus forums and searched about its flaws. What i found out was many people are complaining about overheating and fast battery drain, not to mention when they want to charge it takes ages to do so. That said not all seem to have those issues. Some people also complained about slow camera shutter speed 1-2s delay and not that good night photos.

Compared to galaxy note 5 and LG G4 in performance.... OPT was last.

The only good thing i see here is the price. Compared to other top end phones its the cheapest so far.

edit: Battery life is better in OPO (8h -heavy load), OPT (6,5h - heavy load) :/

Ohh I'm so jelly! Any tips to get one faster?

I think the main advantage is the price point, which happens to meet my budget. Although, I've seen tests with different results: http://www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_2_battery_life_test-blog-13858.php

Last year when they were giving out invites for OPO, some of my friends claimed them and bought their OPOs. This year they started with invites at the end of august and last week some of my friends already got their OPT invite.

i think people who already have OPO will get invite for OPT soon before anyone else if they didnt get it already.

The invite i have is from one of my friends who gave it to me.

I've got the Oneplus One. I like it. Great price, decent phone.

The first one is good and the second one really isn't too much of a step up from it that makes me want to get the second one. I've had zero issues with it and have had it about a year. Personally for what they are, they are (unlocked, CHEAP compared to Samsung/LG/HTC, can install root without a problem, no carrier monthly fees.) great!

Honestly I'd compare the first one to the second one and probably get the first one again! :)

Hmmm, well, I can see the advantage price-wise, performance wise the OP2 is a tad bit ahead, which I'd like.

I'm still sporting an iPhone 4, believe it or not, and I'm not really looking outside the Apple ecosystem just because I'm already bought in (back then Android was very unreliable). One thing I will say: unless you're within a couple of weeks of pulling the trigger on a purchase, you might as well save yourself the trouble of researching - by the time you're done researching, the next "best phone for the money" will be on the horizon making the one you're about to buy look pathetic.

I think the Lenovo K3 Note is an even better deal, for around $180. Other than gorilla glass and maybe a physical home button there isn't much I would miss here. And this is coming from someone who owns a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and an iPhone 6 (which I quite dislike). I played with the Lenovo, and was very impressed.

Oneplus One had great specs, though its biggest downside for me is that it doesn't have any MicroSD slots and it has a non-removable battery. Hence I had second thoughts about getting Oneplus One. Let's wait for further reviews of this one then.

I wanted to buy one, but i heard its hard to get one because you need to get an invite(dont know if its the same for 2)
But the first edition was great. So i have no doubts the second one will be great too. The specs are ones you normally see in expensive highend phones. But this is 350€, no company can top that (not even huawei). +the software (cyanogen) is epic:D. I got myself a LG g4 which is an amazing phone aswell but 520€ (its qHD:o)

This one is definitely in my radar, alongside Nexus 2015. The only downside I find is that Oneplus doesn't run stock Android. My preference is still stock.

Looks nice, and the specs are very good. I'd say go for it.

My current smartphone is awful. It's an Alcatel onetouch Idol S II. Terrible name, terrible product. I only bought it because I broke my previous phone, and needed a new one quickly. This was the cheapest deal I could find, and to be honest, the monthly price is still amazing. The worst part about the phone is the 1GB memory. The phone you're looking at has 4GB. I'm jealous.

Ah, yes, the OnePlus 2! I heard about the phone awhile back and it did look interesting. I know it was released recently and when it first came out you had to have an invite to actually be able to purchase one.

From what I read, it's being marketed as "the flagship killer" but not a lot of reviews seem to agree with it. I know it got a lot of backlash for not having NFC (which means no Android Pay, if you're into that kind of thing). However, now that I'm looking at the specs you posted, the phone doesn't seem bad at all. In fact, the phone seems pretty great for the price.

I had recently got my first Android phone (~January 1st) and since then, I've fallen in love with Android. Seriously. Breaking away from iOS, and seeing all these great Android phones with cool designs and awesome specs, is so cool! For me, the new Galaxy devices all seem like letdowns with the drop of features like microSD card, removable battery and Water"proof", which I think are all very cool features to have with your Android phone. I've recently had my eye on Sony's newest phones and the new Moto X Pure, those look like some sweet phones!

Thank you for not only the giveaway, but also for reading my hopefully-not-obnoxiously-long comment, I just really like talking about techy awesomeness!

Sadly you still need an invitation to purchase one, I suppose because they're still a small company and can't afford just yet to begin a big scale mass-production.

Well, it may not be a flagship killer, I can agree to that, but right now, I believe it is the biggest threat in the $400usd range, which is my budget. I believe I will have no problems streaming games at 1080P from my laptop with this mobile phone, I'm really excited to test these features. I will also play a lot of games, from Humblebundle, which are for android ^^. I've read about the Samsung phones, but most are at the $800 range, which is too expensive for me as of now.

The invitation system is still in effect? Hope you can get your hands on one!

I do agree, the phone looks way cool! Those specs are very nice, especially for the price. You;ll have to let us know how you like the phone after you get it.

I talked to my friend today who has the HTC One M9, and I ended liking the phone more than I thought I would.
Those Android Humble Bundles are quite nice, I agree with you on that. I've picked up quite a couple myself.
The newest (expensive) Samsung phones don't seem to be justified at their current price, especially since US carriers dd away with subsidized phone plans.

One question, you said you'll be streaming games at 1080p from your laptop to your phone, what software will you be using to do this?

Thank you for the whitelist!

I've had the original oneplus for a while now, and it's a great phone if you like to tinker with stuff. I was planning on getting the 2, but the CPU has been known to have heating issues. Apparently, they underclocked it, and that lets it work fine without throttling.

The more pressing reason is that I'm still very happy with my oneplus one. I might skip this generation, but if you need a phone, I think it's a solid bet.

I just got this phone recently, I have read of overheating issues but in the week I have used it, it shouts of magnificence. Literally super smooth experience, the camera is a delight, lighter than what I expected. The large screen helps in playing HD games as a visual treat. Honestly I havent used it enough to tell about its cons but so far in last 10 days it has shown a promise for the price i paid.

I've been using the Nexus 5 since 2013 and I love it. No regrets whatsoever. However, if something happened and I HAD to replace it? I would import a Xiaomi Mi4i. They go for 200-225 USD in India so expect to pay around 250-280 when you import it. But this thing is AWESOME and especially for the price.

Check out the Xiaomi Mi4i

And I have no experience with this site but here is a site that might ship them to the US.

No matter the specs of the phone, do read the user reviews on websites like gsmarena. Make sure the users haven't reported any frequent lags (my last phone started to lag even after a complete format) or heat-ups (the problem with my current phone).
