And that's a bit sad :( I mean, I know, that these were just some really cheap bundle games, but still...

I have a massive backlog, play 1-2 games at a time and not in any specific order. I do end up playing the games I win but it can take me a long time to get to a specific game. People have their reasons, like for example: Bioshock shows 1 minute for me even though I beat the game when I didn't have internet access but Bioshock 2 and Tomb Raider show my actual playtime.

If that's your biggest problem then I'm here to disappoint you. I played like 100/2100 of my games. You're welcome.

I always "try" to play games I've won but frankly with a more-than-full-time job, a loving hubby that enjoys spending time with me and a backlog that is gonna require "extra lives" to fully complete, sometimes it just doesn't happen quickly.

There is one game I wanted so bad, I could taste it - GoT - I started to dl it and realized if was so huge that I needed to back-up a crapton of stuff off my HD, then got busy with work, had to travel to a "destination wedding", got back, realized I still hadn't done the back-up, then the dog got horribly sick again and several weeks later had to be sent, lovingly but sadly over the rainbow bridge... And well - life is what happens while you're making other plans.

This week after putting over 50 hours of work, I managed to complete one, super-easy P&C game (btw, I am terrible about not closing games and letting them run in the bg or overnight) but my brain and energy level is for crap... Trust me, I'd love to already have started GoT but when? I'm hopeful that next weekend gives me enough bandwidth and energy to get that back-up done.

Oh and I also won the second in the Journey Down series - but I still haven't played the first. I'm pretty sure Adam isn't going to be upset with me (I hope). But I did immediately play The Howler for a few hours - not to completion by any means - but it was a small dl.

Me, well since I starting gifting several years ago, I'm well on my way to 800 gifted games (mostly not on SG). I figure that once the gift leaves my hands, I really have no right to demand someone immediately play it. Maybe you might consider starting a very specific group that includes a rule such as "winners must play within 30 days". I'll bet there are plenty of members here that feel similarly and that would love to join such a group. :-)

This, amended slightly :)

That said, I now plan not to enter any more giveaways until I get time to play what I have won or bought so far, especially as I only usually try to enter what I would actually like to own and play.

I enter very few GA's - mostly just bundle games that I missed or didn't pick up because I only wanted "that" one game to play...eventually. But there are a few "big" titles that I'll enter for just to keep it interesting.

However, in doing the math, I find it interesting that if I play through one game per week it's going to take me 16 years - give or take 850 games.

hurries off to check new bundles :-p

Because 90% users from this site use it only because it free and profit(i mean cards), they dont care about games.

I tend to play any games I win ASAP specifically for fear of hurting the feelings of the gifter. But in some cases I have a game I'm playing actively so it can take up to a week before I get to the freshly won game.

I don't always play the game I won right away but I don't enter giveaways for games that I am not interested in.
We all have stuff to do in real life and we will get to these games sooner or later.

That's the nature of backlogs, I'm afraid.
When it comes to giveaways for cheaper bundled games, the majority of people who truly wanted the game would have purchased the bundle (assuming they knew of the bundle). Those who enter are often people who are interested in trying it out, but not overly enthused, and so it sits just outside of the priority list on the backlog.

I try to only enter for games I know I'll play soon-ish, but between limited free time after work and the habitual games you can get into (CS:GO, f2p games, MOBAs, etc) you can find yourself with little time to jump into something new. I think I'd perhaps understand your frustration a little more if they weren't bundled. I get where you're coming from, but I don't quite feel the same way.

Though I suppose if it does leave you feeling burned, perhaps you could consider making your giveaways private and then link to them through the forums. That way you can include a custom rule such as "must own less than 50 games" or something. You know, to ensure they're likely to play it in short order. Actually that's not a bad idea really. I'd much rather that my own bundle spares go to someone with a smaller steam library, rather than someone sitting on a backlog.

I have over 1700 games, but besides the 50 copies giveaways I always intend to at least try what I enter. It just takes a while.

That is why I don't check, to delude myself into thinking people actually played some of them especially the more expensive ones.

well... you have 45% of your library unplayed as well.
give them time, most people here get games faster than they can play

I make it a point to play the games I win, there are like two exceptions that I probably won't get around to beating the games (two are abandonware that I tried out at least for an hour or so, and the other is just too dated for me to tell what I'm even looking at on the screen)

I haven't entered a giveaway since 2013 and I don't know that I ever will again, I definitely won't if I don't finish the 10ish games left that I've won and haven't beat :>

One of the only things you can do is blacklist.
Normally because you are making public giveaways you can't really do anything about what kind of ppl will win.

Although no enforcing power, you should write something like "I hope winner can play this game and write a comment within 3 months" in description.
I want to play all my own games, but it is really a slow progression. XD

Interesting ! . I was thinking to same thing a few days ago !. I checked winners of my non-bundle games to see if they have played those games or just added it to their backlog .

for example :

Assassin's Creed : Liberation HD

Far Cry® 2: Fortune's Edition

Both giveaways ended 3 or 4 month ago and winners didn't play them yet !.- enter wrath emotion here -

I don't spend my real money for fun here, if i give a non-bundle game away then i have reason(s) :

One of them : I like to give someone who really wanted to play that game a chance to win it for free

I'm not interested in spending my money for users who just collecting or archiving games as a hobby !

Why do you enter a non-bundle giveaway and lessing chances of other entries if you have no plan to play it in a close future ?

I only enter games I want to play...
but I also have a huge backlog and very limited time.
I install all the games I win, unfortunately, most end up waiting for me to give them some attention :)
Out of the 2TB of installed games, I probably play 2-3. Mostly GTA online now. Online games tend to eat up a lot of time.
I have Witcher 3 not yet started and Witcher 2! still in the first city.
Gone are the days when I used to play 8 hours a day.

I only enter for games I want to play and I intend to play every game in my steam library (except for 5 to 10 games that I activated when I first started buying bundles and didn't think about trading or gifting the ones I didn't want).

So, I intend to play every game I win, but with a backlog of over 400 games, there are a lot of games that are more desirable for me to play before I get to some of the games I won here.

So I've made a rule for myself lately, cause I've been having issues.
I try to play 1-3 games at a time max, and try to complete the game before moving onto other games.
I then categorize and review them.
But I have so many games, I have a huge backlog.
And it doesn't get any easier... because I keep buying games/bundles to give away...
So I have more games...

But once I start playing them, I play the heck out of them.
I want everything I enter... I just might not be able to play it right now... ;/

I do the same. I only like to play 1 game at a time that is story driven and then if I install a 2nd (or very rarely a 3rd) it has to be more of a casual game without much of a story like a simple arcade game or platformer.

I also try and complete every game I play. It really bothers me to not complete a game I start unless it is the type of game that is meant to be played forever or if it is something I really dislike, but that rarely happens because I have a pretty good idea of the games that I like and I do a lot of research on every game before I add it to my library. I think I currently only have 4 games that I started and did not complete.

Edit: For example, right now I am playing Mafia II and 8BitBoy.

Give them some time.
Even few months!

I don't have time to play right now...
And when I'll get some - I won't be playing more than 2 / 3 hours a day.
And I have more than 750 games to play!!
I am buying this games by my money.
Some of them I won here and I would like to prioritize them by playing them firstly in the future.

But you know what is the main advantage for me to have so much games?

A choice <alleluja>!! :D

I don't play them NOW because of lack of time ... but try to discover later ... and my family really appreciates it that they can play them through family sharing :) so not playing is in fact not an indication of ne being interested in it ...

Of course it's easier/quicker to click the "Enter Giveaway" button, than actually playing and investing time.

Myself I'm trying the games when I find time, and may or may not stick to them. Some I have finished 100%, some I've just played for an hour, and some I've never touched yet.

I wouldn't mind when people don't play my given away games. Especially when they're bundle leftovers. However, when I bought them just for the giveaway, it makes it feel a bit wasted. But that's how it is, people like to collect, and people lack time to play everything.

Sure, in a perfect world, only people who really want to play a game, would enter the giveaway for it. But the chance of getting something for free, makes people weird.

Also, I have a specific group in my library for won games, which I check every now and then.
