How much more will this bundle *TILTify* you in comparison to last year's?
that's what happened for me. the email said the key was for rising storm 2: vietnam -- if it would have had a name that matched i wouldn't have activated it. oh well, not sure that's my kind of game anyway

I'm leaning towards buying this, even if it's a bit expensive. Charity + quite a number of unbundled games + good selection of games + decent discount over the retail price (~95%). The already owned games might be nice for the yearly SG Christmas event :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Just make sure they activate the keys soon enough!

I saw a few wishlist games and several ignore games and then alot of other stuff.
I have most of the interesting ones already.
It is for charity, so treat it that way, not for the quality of the games.
Comment has been collapsed.
Exactly, plus i don't mind giving away 40€ for charity.
Comment has been collapsed.
no problem i always found them a bit expensive for the size you get but i hope you find something nice
Comment has been collapsed.
Not bad really, on first look thought I had everything interesting from it but still nabbed half a dozen keys when doing GAs. Happy days.
Comment has been collapsed.
Surprisingly, i had about 10-12 in wishlist, and after having a look at all the ones i didn't know, i added a few more. Bought it, gave for the Whales and Dolphins, and redeemed 21 of them. Some others might finish in my account too, some others will go on SG.

Is it only for UK residents? Asks me to confirm I'm from the UK and price only shows up in GBP, even though I live in the USA.
Comment has been collapsed.
i chose skip when it asked about some sort of tax thing for UK. amounts were all in gbp and i'll probably get the international transaction fee on my credit card for this but i had no problem getting it through and getting my email full of keys

Is it me or the price is like 50% higher than it was before?

I don't remember the last Yogocast I bought but it wasn't 2020 iirc. Because the games were bad. But I remember that my very first was like 30 USD. Which had not really worse games than this one. And the amount of rebundles in this Yogocast paired with price is a big NO from me.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, it has some games I have wishlisted, but those are low priority games. Like I have 1751 games on my wishlist. It's obvious I want some of them more than the others. If they were games I want more... yeah. But with that high price, a lot of rebundles I cannot buy it. Charity or not, I am poor myself, so I won't just randomly give 40 bucks, not to mention, I don't even have that much to begin with... got financial problems and I struggle to even live.
Comment has been collapsed.
These 'bundles' are actually charity events so, unless something changed this year, the devs / publishers participate on a fully voluntary basis and don't see a penny from the proceeds.
I have no horse in this race, however, looking at the wares on display, this is a much more compelling offer than most recent years of the Jingle Jam.
Comment has been collapsed.
I am not a living charity. I have my own financial needs, as well as many problems. If for You $40 is "just fe bucks", for me it's living for a month. I don't care if it's charity or not. It's just a side effect for me. And if people wanted to donate to charity, they didn't need to buy games because of that. They can do it anytime they want. Without getting anything in exchange. I buy bundles for games. Someone wants to brag how "generous" they are. Go ahead, I don't mind, neither do I care. But I am not rich enough to do that, especially that I struggle to just don't die or start living under the bridge right now. That's how real world is.

30 games not owned
25 games owned
1.64€ per game. I think I'm going to pass

21 owned, 26 not owned +8 wishlisted (which are not high in a wishlist anyway). It's similar for me.

Just putting this out there, please don't donate to Autistica. Autistica is just a rebranded Autism Speaks UK and seems to support the same things. As an autistic person, I don't view myself as having a mental disease, it's just a different view of the world. Autism Speaks views me as diseased and is looking for a "cure". They also are big believers in ABA therapy which is bsaically just child abuse masquerading as therapy.
Here's a good flyer on it
Here's a super in-depth look into Autistica and the founder
TL;DR: please if you want to support an autism charity, check out Autism Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) on HB. That's where all my bundles' money goes to.
Comment has been collapsed.
thanks for pointing this out. luckily i picked a different charity. i’ll look for asan when i get to make my charity picks for work in the next month or so.
Comment has been collapsed.
I really appreciate you posting this. I'm still not sure if I'll pick up the bundle due to limited funds, but I noticed Autistica right away and thought that may be a good choice for me to donate to (my partner is autistic). The only research I had done so far was to see if they were on Charity Navigator. So glad I didn't just jump on this immediately, I would have felt terrible if my funds went to them. :(
Comment has been collapsed.
It's no worries. Every time I see an autism charity I google them + autism speaks as charities nowadays have been renaming themselves to not be associated with A.S. while still supporting and funding the same things. It's super shady but is becoming more and more common. Again, super fond of ASAN as they're actually for self-advocacy of autistic people and are run by autistic people (actually one of the founders went to my current college).
Comment has been collapsed.
It's not my place to tell you how you feel, but other autistic people might feel very differently. It's great you accept yourself the way you are, as you should. So should everyone else. But parents of children with severe autism might want a cure. It's not a bad thing. Just like down syndrome. They are not worse in any way and shouldn't be treated differently, but most parents would accept a cure because it would surely improve their child's life. I have an autistic cousin and she barely socialize and talk. I don't view you or her as diseased, but sure her mother would take a cure any day of the week. It's a condition and it would be nice if it could be treated or improved in any way.
Like many others things, we live with it because there's is no choice. But parents do not want their child to suffer or be mistreated by society. They would change that if they could. Be it suffering in their instead or having a cure.
This is in no way about the charities. I know nothing about them or their methods and beliefs.
This is also not a criticism to you. I just wanted to say that not every autistic person or family member feel the same way you do.
Comment has been collapsed.
...The problem boils down to what a 'cure' for autism would look like. There is a significant difference between a treatment and a cure. Treatment is meant to mitigate symptoms, i.e. education, therapy, medication. Cure meanwhile is meant to treat the cause. You have a patient, give them the cure, and the symptoms disappear because he underlying cause is gone.
The issue with this approach and autism is that autism is developmental. The changes happen in the womb and that alters the course of a person's development. This means developing a would-be 'cure' would follow one of two courses. Either you target the fetus during its development and prevent/reverse the change; or you fix the problem and revert the behavioral changes in a person later on in their life.
The first is a scientific taboo. The second veers very heavily to medical taboo.
Human embryological development is an intentional blind spot in our body of knowledge and is a large factor in why we know so little about the mechanisms behind autism to this day. Scientists use substitutes and analogues like zebrafish and frogs when studying things like teratogenicity (how chemicals and the like affect fetal development) in humans because the alternative is slow, inconsistent, and horrifyingly unethical. This is magnified for matters of development that determine what would ultimately constitute as 'normal childhood behavior.' Due to the nature of a study like that, not only can you not use substitutes or analogues... you'd need a lot of test subjects for to reach an acceptable sample size. Direct research into this field is a taboo for a reason.
On the medical side, I believe it used to be called 'behavioral readjustment.' A person didn't act normal so doctors tried various procedures to... readjust their behavior to make them act more normal. This was long before neurology as we know it and even before psychology was regarded as a reputable field of study. This... meant that procedures tended towards (crude) psychosurgery or what we'd now constitute as torture. In either case, treatments tended to either outright fail or... end very unpleasantly for the patient (see the case of Rosemary Kennedy). Even with modern-day psychiatrists and neurologists administering the procedure, psychosurgery is still highly criticized and controversial. There are questions of ethics, questions of self-identity, and even questions of long-term efficacy. Most experts believe that we simply don't know enough about the human mind right now to reliably make these sorts of alterations without doing more harm than good.
This is why many people find organizations searching for a 'cure' for things like autism (as opposed to palliative treatment) so... unpalatable. The feeling of wanting a cure is understandable but... it would be wise to be aware what a 'cure' would entail.
Comment has been collapsed.
I have yet to meet an autistic person who is in favor of autism speaks. The issue is that it's led by family members who don't like how their children act differently from others and want them to be normal. If the kid is happy, why should they be changed just to make the family more comfortable? It's the same thing as trying to use CRISPR to get rid of dwarfism or deafness despite the pleading from those communities not to do so.
If I, or many other autistic people I know, had a choice to be "cured", almost all wouldn't take it because it's not actually a disease, it's just another way to view life.
Comment has been collapsed.
But are they abrasive with that or are You exaggerating. Because autism is not a disease, but it's a disorder. So maybe not the "cure", but help can happen. Is this wrong someone wants to help? Some autistic traits are not bad, but others can lead to not be able to properly interact with the environment or other people. Regardless of Your symptoms, somebody may have bad life, because of that.

Except exaggerating I se literally nothing wrong with this ad. I've seen ads that were even more exaggerating and people just ignore them or even meme them. The message, though is simple. Love will defeat autism. So there is no "AUTISM IS ILLNESS AND WE WANT TO CURE IT WITH A MEDICAMENT". I haven't even remotely hear such message there.
It just exaggerates how autism look, but it's not to make it look like an illness, but to rise awareness. This is called hyperbole. It's used in poems, fictions, but also in real life. It's to show that autism is not something You can ignore. You want to help the person. And how to help? The answer in the ad is LOVE.
You think people with ADHD or down syndrome is illness? Because I do not. But I know it IS a problem. And autism can be too.
So basically You are exaggerating how bad it is. Because from this ad I only see simple caring, trying to raise awareness about it, that it's here and we should understand that people. With, of course, love. That's the only message in this ad.
Comment has been collapsed.
The message, though is simple. Love will defeat autism
I think many would prefer acceptance or help over "defeating" something that is "not an illness"(according to you, as well.)
Also, could we not ignore the "I will take a voice away, ruin your marriage, ruin you of your child and dreams, ruin you financially" part? It's like the red scare was in the US, that still affects the country today and has the result of the "most wonderful" healthcare system in the developed world. (On a side note, the same healthcare system that is responsible for the state mental health care, and the lack of affordable medication for many mental issues)
That ad turns autism into a curse and a swear word, something to be shunned, and to be afraid about - it's a very weird take that there is nothing wrong with it.
It's a shitty take on a spectrum disorder like autism or ADHD that one wants to "defeat" it, without differentiating the seriousness of the condition. And even then, helping the most effected would be a lot better (and healthier) take, than addressing the whole
In lot of cases, it's a different, but perfectly viable way of living, and the actual person having the disorder is fine with having it. And I bet they are not happy about some organisation spreading the "defeat your condition" message about the thing that is the fundamental part of their personality and life.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thank you, I couldn't have worded it more elegantly. It's just always hard having people talk down on you once they learn you have autism, it's not like I'm any different than before they found out.
Additionally, if autism speaks were led by autistic people, I wouldn't have such an issue. Instead, it's led by parents who don't like their kids being different than other kids and want to make sure they conform to society's standards in any way possible. The leader of Austica literally said she has wanted to kill her autistic son.
Even non-verbal kids I've worked with still have a high quality of life, and are, for the most part, very happy once they have the ability to communicate in some way (e.g., tablet app, cards, ASL, etc.). Forcing nonverbal kids through ABA therapy is cruel. They take away comfort objects and force the kid to speak in order to get it back. There are other parts to it that are also bad, but that's the most common.
I don't want to be "cured". I don't have a disease. Saying that my having autism ruined my parents' lives is cruel. It shows that Autism Speaks isn't about the kids, it's about the parents.
Comment has been collapsed.
Do You even watched this ad or listened to what I've said (wrote)? Because I rather think love = acceptance. Or maybe I am wrong and have weird associations.
The part You've mentioned shows exaggerated consequences, which I've been talking about. You are literally forcing Your reactions to be negative. You seek for things to hate. That's what it looks like. The depiction of autism here is exaggerated, but the reason is to raise awareness that it exist. It's like saying that no seatbelts in car will kill a bus full of children. Chance of that to happen are extremely low. But it may happen. I don't see You ranting about car social programs that tells people to use seatbelts. This is literally the very same exaggeration. It shows exaggerated consequences, because they want people to NOTICE that this is a problem, not just "weird kid".
And don't tell me about US Health Care. I don't live in US, so how can I relate to this? Those are highly political views of somebody who have experience in living there. If I would tell You about problems of my country, You wouldn't relate to them, because You don't live here. Not to mention, they are completely unrelated to the ad.
Of course autism is something You should be scared about. Because it's not just a mere "weird kid in Your neighborhood" problem. It's person, who may be experiencing something, they wouldn't want to see. You are making problem out of nothing. You just pickup sentences that doesn't say anything negative, You just get them as negative, because You don't want to get the bigger meaning, which is exactly to raise awareness that autism exist. Exaggeration doesn't mean they HATE AUTISM AND THINK YOU ARE DISEASED. Because that's what You've said at the beginning and that statement is completely false.
What are You even talking about with the whole "defeat it". All they said in the ad is literally that family, friend will be there to help the kid. You literally have it in for it. You biased Yourself and can't see reason. You just repeat the "defeat" "disease" etc. That's not what the ad is about.
I don't think I have anything more to say. You may stay biased, but I have nothing, really nothing else to say about. I can't change what You perceive, if You want to perceive it that way. But I can tell You that if You bias Yourself against something, You will be seeing things that doesn't exist no matter what.

First off, love != acceptance. Second, autistic people want acceptance, not awareness. Especially not when that thing used to bring awareness is saying autism is something to be feared. Imagine an autistic kid watching that commercial. You think they are going to come away from it feeling happy? Raising awareness by spreading harmful myths about autism is not something a charity claiming to support autistic people should do. Awareness has not proven effective at improving the lives of autistic people. You want to help autistic people? Accept them exactly as they are. There are different ways of looking at things like disabilities and neurodivergent identities. There is the social model of disability. This model says that people are disabled by barriers in society, not by their impairment or difference. Barriers can be physical, like buildings not having accessible toilets. Or they can be caused by people's attitudes to difference, like assuming disabled people can't do certain things. The deficit model is dominant and pathologizes disabilities and neurodivergent identities so that they are understood by the general public as an illness to be cured rather than a different but entirely valid way of being. This does not help. A charity claiming to help should not have this view.

Bruh, You are still nitpicking NON EXISTING problems. So, sorry. You make problems. Not this ad. And I don't want to discuss it any longer. It's boring. It's like trying to explain why the sky is blue and not red. That's what I've been doing in this thread.
Comment has been collapsed.
Bruh, stop. Every problem You mentioned doesn't exist. Period. I don't have time to argue with people that seek for problems, because they have too boring lives.
Comment has been collapsed.
What problem did I mention? That they were trying to raise awareness by spreading harmful myths about autism? That is obviously true to any rational person that watched that commercial. Do you disagree with the social model of disability? What exactly are you arguing, bruh, because it seems to me you just like arguing for arguing's sake, bruh.
Comment has been collapsed.
No, it's You who argue for arguing's sake. And You hate for hate's sake as well. I will repeat the last time. There is nothing harmful in the commercial. If You see things that doesn't exist it's Your problem. Don't reply, because I won't bother to read it anymore. I don't have time or will to argue with people who want to hate the commercial for no reason, because they made up things to have something to hate. I just don't.
Comment has been collapsed.
So by advocating that people love autistic people just as they are I hate. Yeah, that makes sense. Autism Speaks removed the ad from it's website and apologized for it. Would they have done that if your logic is true? You think you know more about autism than people with autism. So please, don't read my comment. You might learn something and that would be horrible.
And I'll keep commenting because every time this thread is bumped there is the potential that someone will donate to a good cause and learn the negatives of Autism Speaks.

Question to people who also got last year's bundle : did someone experience the january-redeem limit ? I redeemed or traded or gave away all the games before the end of december, but i'll be curious to know if some game keys finally worked months later, or if some indeed didn't work at one point ?

Several keys were revoked, some still work.
I kept an overview of the activations on the 2020 thread, I'm planning to do the same for this year's bundle, but starting from January (since they're still valid at the moment).
