Well more recently I've really enjoyed Botanicula and Deponia, kind of surprised with Deponia, for me it had more laugh out loud moments than any other game I've played so far save for Portal 1/2

I really don't like point and click games to be honest.

But the Walking Dead was absolutely incredible.

I've got a couple of favourites, mainly the newer Sam & Max series, Gemini Rue, Grim Fandango and The Longest Journey.
Then there are a couple I really didn't like, mainly Syberia and The Walking Dead (I actually despised that one...)

Were you annoyed that it was more of an interactive cartoon than an actual game?

(It's true, but I think it's wonderful anyway.)

I found TWD to be more an interactive novel with rather stupid characters, semi-bad gameplay (I don't like timed dialogues for example, and the mouse acceleration when fighting was rather bad), and very inconsistent graphics style.
I have to give it though that it had a humorous moment or two, and that the puzzles where quite okay.
And on a similar note I found the series to have the same problems. So that might explain my dislike for the game.

Grim Fandango but it's not really point and click, so Monkey Island 2.

I clearly scare pretty easily because I've never been more frightened by a bunch of blocky pixels in my life than when I played those four games.

Kinda surprised Myst hasn't been mentioned. Or maybe I'm just old. :(

while I liked Myst quite a bit I don't think I would grant it the title of my favorite p&c. The story was pretty ambiguous in that game and story is really what drives point and clicks. Personally, I think Riven was a bit better in that regard.
