So... Do you?
Honestly, this sounds like a personal problem to me. Unless this ice cream craving is contagious, at which point... eh, there's worse diseases you can get so...
Gonna miss getting a good deal on a gallon of ice cream though, given everyone now has this crippling addiction.

No, officer. I would never do things that are illegal.

I don't think using bot-scripts is ethical, besides it will be illegal soon.

I suspect that was actually just a bot, one programmed to participate in surveys so that its behavior patterns look more like a normal user.
It probably doesn't even know it's a script.

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.[1]

Nah, bots might enter (and win!) something terrible and then I'd have to add it to my library... That would be the worst, I prefer to lose every giveaway manually.
But in all seriousness, I never even considered it. The very practice of using those seems disrespectful. If someone can't be bothered to enter for a giveaway themselves then do they really even want it?

Greed? I have a lot of links here with the tags i'd appreciate, but as cg said, our use of our points isn't that precise so we spend a lot of time here doing nothing but searching a way to distribute them. I don't care about winning, i love when the cat appears but now my hype of mining +1 passed away.

I don't really get the "I have points so I NEED to spend them on anything!" mindset, so most of these discussions are simply lost on me. If there are no giveaways for games I'd want (public or private) then I wouldn't risk putting my points into something I don't care about just to spend the points.

I like to put my points in things that will last for a longer period, so I can get them back when I really need them.

Did you really just compare an app that farms trading cards and a group that does the same with autojoin bots on SG that farm money directly out of someone else's pockets in the shape of games?
Of course it's only about winning more, and most certainly couldn't have anything to do with autojoin users completely disrespecting the time, effort, and money that goes into giveaways - not to mention disrespecting the actual human beings who enter and would like to win those games.

While I see the point you're trying to make, you're neglecting one major thing - auto-entry bots are against the rules on SG. Those breaking that rule have an unfair advantage over those who choose to follow the rules.
Card idling programs are not against Steam's TOS or "rules" and those apps are free and readily available to all, so the ground is even for everyone. If you choose to cut down a tree with a butter knife, can you really blame the guy using a chainsaw?

Lol, I can proudly say that I blacklisted you. Why would I be shy about it?

What about BL? I'm supposed to not ask about it but now you gave me curiosity!
And no, i never imagined that someone would admit that they use auto-join, but in fact we have +10 people that assumed they're using against hundreds of people that claim to be not using it. So my point is proved... There's less bots than people over here... I totally believe it... I'm a believer... I believe i can fly...
And bite some clouds... I'M INSANE! I'LL BITE YOU!

It exists.
And whoa, do you really care about a simple thanks huh? "So i will give you this, but if you dont thank me, you dont have my respect anymore"
When people are making a donation to someone or some cause, do they expect a thanks back or they are just happy to help?
Well whatever... There's always going to be someone making a splurge because of a little thing.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't give away things just to see a "thanks," but it is nice to see that people aren't ungrateful assholes, especially when they're receiving something for FREE. I'm pretty sure you aren't a god damn charity, and the games you receive are NOT donations, so that analogy is invalid.
Tell me, when someone, say a family member, a friend, or even a stranger, gives you something in "real life," are you also ungrateful? Do you not give them even a simple "thanks"? Would you say to them, "oh, but it's not a requirement"? Does "thank you," or any other form of gratitude, exist in your vocabulary? Does it really matter if the person giving you a game is a stranger behind a screen? Do they not deserve some sort of appreciation when they've decided to use their own money to buy something that then falls into your ungrateful, grubby little hands? It's funny that you called Morikalina "disrespectful and rude," when YOU yourself are disrespectful and rude. Hmm, I do believe that is called "hypocrisy."

I certainly made mistakes in this site, but im sure that i was never rude or disrepectful with anyone in the forum.
You think it's better to compare real life with giveaways than a donation, also youre judging a person's real life based on a website. Im the one being rude and disrespectful here?
Thanks to Sighery ive already ignored you, so dont waste your time answering to this, i will not read.
reminder: dont talk in forum, sg+ is perfect and dont like people who make mistakes

Depends.
If the question is "do you auto-join pizza party" or "do you auto-join grilled cheese party" then - hell yes!. I want to be automatically invited to events like this.
I saw someone with 130k entries in 2 years. So yeah, there are people that run auto-join scripts like crazy

No, I can still use a mouse and enter giveaways the old school way. ;-)

Maybe within an X amount of years from now they will have smart phone implants, but for now I'm old school and not ashamed to use old school things or methods.
Also I'm retired so I have time to enter individual giveaways and trains the old school way. :-)

I can relate to what you just said, in the first person, because I recently had some health issues and being active on SG gave me some (mind) rest instead of proverbially playing the same song over and over again.

Thank you and after the annus horribilis that 2016 was with multiple rounds of chemo, radiotherapy and their side effects, I'm a lot better now and having only to cope with residual effects of the cancer treatments.
Do take care buddy and I hope you are and get better too. Have a nice and peaceful weekend!

I fell a lot bad for existing such thing... Life isn't perfect and we'll always have something to deal with.
For now i'm just waiting diagnosis for what appears to be an inflammation and i'm hopeful, unfortunately i'm having troubles with self-esteem because it's kinda complication due to a fracture i had in my jaw 10 years ago.
Enough sad things! Take care you too, i have the best wishes for you!

As cg said, the auto-joiners are there to make your life more easier and to guarantee that the use of your points will be used efficiently and as far i can see, the auto-joiners for the common public are well developed to work for you while you're idle somewhere else, but it's wrong and talking about that is kinda polemic right now, so this is why i thought was fun to create this thread!
I believe that there are a lot of advanced auto-joiners with A.I. imposed by some kind of communist reptilian that actually loves to play point-and-click and really don't care about playing the russian garbage, but why? What's the proposition of that?
Serious, i can imagine a server with 64 VM's one each running an auto-joiner with a Steam account linked on it. This guy will farm all the cards and then sell the accounts in the black market... Totally profitable and possible.
A week ago i saw a Lvl 1 profile with 500+ games won here and i was like.... "What a luck bastard"... I mean, right? Can you imagine this?
I'm Lvl 5 almost 6 and when i discovered SG i just imagined that it could be a nice place to 'exchange' my leftover for another people leftover, so i liked it because i was looking for somehow increase my library, but now i just want to delete a lot of garbage to make it easier to find the good titles so what was the point in buying, winning and trading games that i had no interest? There's a lesson here for us...
When you purchase or win a garbage, you automatically feed the trash-monster-developer and if you think that there are a lot of trash lately you have the right and the fault, just like me. So, keep your wallet and honor your real interests.
What was this thread about anyways?
