Is brute force necessary to find the code? Just need to be clear on what you mean by "octet" :D

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

An octet is a group of 8 bits. So the last 5 octets are 01100010 01100110 00101100 00101100 01101101.
No brute forcing is necessary.

Yeah so the number ain't included in the last 5 octets...

non-traditional binary = 0, 1 and 2 as digits.

Would that still be binary? not base 3?

lol

yes it is base 3, i mean it can't be called BInary.(Bi=2, Bynary= 2 digits)

Bruteforcing the numbers?

No, this "is not traditional binary", whatever that means.

Indeed whatever that means. Hate these type of puzzles that are clearly meant for certain type of users.

Yup. I have it. :((

"This is not traditional binary." <-- This made it too easy.

Didn't want to give that hint so quickly, but I accidentally made the giveaway end in 1 day instead of 3.

Bruteforced every number. The letters must be wrong.

I didn't know there was such a thing as non-traditional binary. Guess I'll have to wait for the super hint.

^--- this. the only things I could think of that would make it "non traditional" don't seem to be it.

What do you mean by "not traditional binary"? Google does not help at all :(

Man are you sure the octecs are right? the 00101100 isn't a number

It is a number, but it still doesn't work.

It works, and "not traditional binary" is a good description :)

So what's the rule on sharing things-we've-tried for this one? Cause I've been poking at it and not making much progress :\

Its not Huffman code is it? I'm too lazy to figure it out.

D: was wracking my brain trying big/little E and other obscure orders from different embedded systems and old processors, never would've figured it out without the uber-hint! But it did give me a fun 5 minute python project :)

Thanks for the extra hint. I'm not sure I'd call it trivial at this point, but that did help me search out what you meant by "not traditional binary". And I learned something new in the process. :) It took a little work to solve it once I did know what was going on, but I did get to the giveaway. Since I don't have that game yet, I entered for it. Thanks again!

i'm not good at this but reflected binary (gray code) its only for numbers, how am i supposed to find the letters?
it might seem stupid, but again, i'm not good at this.

I would give a clue but jatan11t probably dosent want people to give hints and wants you guys to figure it out on your own.

Less than an hour left. Solve the puzzle even if you think you have the game (and you probably do). There will be a nested puzzle in here soon.

It finished up with 16 entries. I didn't win. Oh well. At least it's not my worst luck giveaway (that would be a 4-entry Fortix giveaway). Thanks though. I'll look for the nested puzzle.
