Hi there! I'm here to remind you that you've been in BLAEO for 4 weeks now and haven't shown any signs of activity. We have a shiny new website now where you can organize your Steam backlog and post about your progress. (Click here for a neat guide to get started.)
If you haven't shown any interest in being part of and participating in the group by at least
by next week (26. April), we will have to let you go from the group.

Idiosyncratic once had this great idea of a group that would focus on their backlog and write a review everytime they finished one. I'd love to take a look, because I'm actively trying to slim down my backlog. Not just won games from Steamgifts, but also gifted ones. I rarely touch bought games, like Alien Isolation or Deadpool. which is a shame, but I don't feel guilty not playing them. :D

Thanks for the invite! I will sort my games a.s.a.p., but will check some of the members' threads to get some inspiration for mine. :)

Welcome! Be sure to also check out Mandrill's web site for the group member's backlog tracking :)

I'm on it! Currently sorting my games. I've added Nelly, but might as well ask you now: What do I do with Multiplayer games or arcade titles that I played enough to consider them beaten? Basically endless games I played enough.

There isn't a specific category for multi-player or games that have no end to them. Beaten basically means you've completed at least one successful playthrough. Completed means 100% Steam achievements. You can also tag games with your own list labels.
BTW Happy Cake Day!

I would love some more motivation to play through my large backlog of games. I am currently playing Speedrunners for multiplayer and Cities: Skylines for relaxing, but I also try to work on completing a game. I am currently focused on getting 100% achievements in Final Fantasy 7.

I would like to join, this might be just the thing I need.

i once had aspirations to create a group like DownwardConcept said, but it never happened. I have a rule about finishing at least 1 game before I buy a new one, but I haven't been following it as well as I should. It's also not a very efficient rule for putting a dent in my backlog. I'd love an invite if that's possible. Thanks :)

I wanted to tell you about the group! Great you already got an invite, welcome! :)

I don't have much of a backlog, but I'd love to join this! I've yet to fully complete a game so this might give some motivation to do so :D

Sure, invited :)
You can still post a thread and nothing else, if you want, but we would be really happy if you could at least sort your games on the website (you don't have to, but mandrill just added a group stats thingie and only about half the members have organized their backlogs on the site, so it looks worse than it is)

You can make lists for them - they won't change a game's state, but rather work as tags when you view your games in a certain state. The state depends on you, I guess - I would say "unfinished" if you plan on definitely playing it again and/or if there is more to explore, and beaten if you feel you've seen/played enough and probably won't pick it up again (although I've also put one of those in the "won't play" category, because I actually didn't get that far but hit sort of a wall (seems to be pay to win, and it wasn't that great that I wanted to pay))

Oh yes, no hard feelings indeed. It's just that I find it easier to keep my backlog assassination progress updated by staying on the steam client.
...But now I think I may be misunderstanding the new website. Does the website only require me to change the progress status of my games? If so, that might actually be easier than having to hop onto the group discussion to post updates, hehe.

You can use the website as little or as much as you like; it's supposed to be a tool to make your life easier, not to cause extra work :) It's up to you whether you post updates or not. Changing progress on the site does not post updates automatically; but it does track the progress stats pretty nicely (or so I hope). Perhaps you just give it a chance and see if it helps you organize :)

I've been to so many therapists and clinics as a patient I believe I can give at least some psychological help. :D
Should I ask Nelly to invite you? :)

Awesome, done. :)
If you don't enjoy it you don't have to stay just because I talked you into it. Just take a look and decide for yourself. :)

Welcome! :D
You can start by looking around our Steam forums and the website (here's a guide to get you started on that).
When you're ready, start by organizing your games on the website (My games > (Uncategorized) in the top right corner), write something in your profile (e.g. what you'll focus on first, how you've gone about it till now etc.) and, when you have something new to say, write an update (quite a few member started doing weekly updates, I pretty much just post when I feel like it, hence my one post so far). You can also open a thread on the forums, although those may or may not be frequented less and less now that the website is up.
Let me know if you have any more questions (sometimes I'm even in the group chat ^^)

You don't have to do it all at once, you count as "active" as soon as you start sorting (i.e. a few games in one of the so far empty categories). I sorted mine in 2 sessions, you can do it while watching tv or doing something else. OR you can just write something in your profile about how you'll try to play games sometimes, that counts as active as well (for now ^^).
And don't forget that you still have a few weeks to make up your mind about all of this, a lot of members didn't sort their games or post right away.

I'm working on a different kind of backlog. Games where I don't really expect to finish, but I want to give them a try, say at least 10 minutes each. If you're accepting of something like that, I'd like to join. Haha
I have a standard backlog too, of course, but that's never going to finish anyway. Hahaha

Well, I'm already working on my huge backlog on my own but maybe working in group is better! XD
I'd like to join if it's possible! ^^

Seems interesting. My problem isn't lack of time, it's a tendency of getting on my PC and thinking... "But my dinos need to be fed and I need to farm for that vault..." I'm an ARK addict. <_< Would be nice to have motivation to try some others.

Real life is pretty time consuming, but I have so many games in my backlog that yet have to be played.
Maybe this would motivate me a bit more. Can I have an invite? :)

We're working on new rules right now, sit tight if you're waiting to join - we'll open a new thread shortly :)
This thread was opened to introduce the group Backlog Assassins Extraordinaire, or BLAEO for short. This is what we do:
in dedicated threads and here on SGon our brand-new website O.O (thanks to mandrill!)What you need to have if you'd like to join us:
Requirement to stay in the group:
Please set up your backlog plan in your profile on our website and sort your games there, or post your progress thread in our Steam forums sometime within 3 weeks of joining - otherwise we may think you're not serious about your backlog and may ask you to leave the group ^^
Reply to this post if you'd like to join. Feel free to ask questions about the group here as well - I can't promise any answers, but I'll do my best.
We recently started excluding inactive members (no posts or organizing their profiles on the website since joining 4 weeks ago or earlier). If you feel we've made mistake excluding you, please post here with your reason(s) or contact us in the group's chat.
