I like that he started off by typing the blog post "Why Steam Greenlight is a remarkably good failure" and then taking it one step further and proving why it's such shit. Give credit where credit is due.

Awesome.I was waiting for this long enough. Now, all i miss from making the most out of my PC is a program that will allow me to maximize the window to full screen, minimize and close.

A thread like this really shows how many shitty lurkers the SG forums have.
People who just scan topic titles to enter private giveaways and only ever comment if they think it means they get something free. The majority of them don't read a single word in the OP.
And people wonder why so many gifters retreat into private groups...

Exactly, they don't even care enough to even read the OP but they care enough to want free games for the least amount of effort humanly possible.
ie: Shitty Lurkers.

I just like to say I like their subscription idea. That'd be a pretty awesome idea and likely be more helpful for many of those games because they're actually getting played.

Where's my comment? Oh yeah, I must have dropped it here:
The guy does have a point though, and he is right in that regard. Communication is the key to being greenlit as opposed to what you actually deliver.
You can have the best piece of software there is, but if you cannot 'sell' it to people well by providing things that will attract attention... Well, no one is going to upvote you. Nothing new so far on the horizon. In fact, isn't that exactly what the term marketing stands for?
So I guess he just learned that you will have to promote you stuff. Good for him.

Who cares? Greenlight isn't perfect, but it is kinda ridiculous to hate someone for taking advantage of it. There is so many games on Steam that shouldn't even deserve to be on there that are not even greenlighted, so why stop the little guys from getting a game on Steam? It really hurts nobody and, if anything, helps get people onto the damn site to begin with to hopefully green light other games. I see why this is wrong in your eyes, but you have to understand that this is business and a lot of people are learning on their feet how to do it. I think all that really matters is they hopefully become successful so they can someday make good quality games instead of just not existing at all. Besides, who is going to BUY their game if it is shit? It is a huge and brave gamble to offer free keys like that, assuming the word given was kept.

Everything is exploitable and besides - Greenlight isn't the only way to break through. Sure, it might be a hypocritical way to do shit, but you do what you have to do. In the end, every truly shitty game will die anyway. Why? Because people won't play bad games.
I'll just stamp this with a "survival of the fittest" sticker. There are bad games that get greenlit and good games that don't. It might not be fair, but that's life. Not to mention some good games don't make it out due to a bad marketing campaign. Or they're not just lucky enough.
Also, God, those whimpering free-stuff hungry children are annoying.

It's not even a game... it's something Windows already has where if you move a window towards the side it will automatically resize it for half of the screen...

Might be, but the point stays the same. I obviously talking about Greenlight and things getting greenlit in general, rather than the actual software in the OP. I never mentioned that particular program the OP is referring to.
EDIT: The reason I used the term "games" was that I'm used to seeing mostly games getting greenlit.

I'm late as always, anyway, you can't never have enough steam keys, so let the keys rain!

I think his concern is that other devs will notice and replicate this action with their sub-par games and cause a sudden influx of shitty games made from RPG Maker VX ACE and the likes, thus lowering the standard of all games submitted into Greenlight.
Or maybe I got his message wrong. :/

course with redlit you're now entering the more unsavory, but much much more interesting and titillating areas of town.

Reading is rather important.
The, utterly useless, programm Mosaico - Tiling Window Manager has just been greenlit with use of following methode "Drop a comment and get a free steam key". That is the most stupid and lame way of getting on steam. On top of that the program is just useless as it's already possible in windows with the Win + arrows.
It gets even beter. The company behind this shovelware made a blog post with as title, "Why Steam Greenlight is a remarkably good failure". It's basically a rage post because they couldn't get Greenlit, untill they started using the Drop a comment and get a free steam key-methode
This program should be un-greenlit. It won't be long untill other programs/games will copy this methode. And thus will get even more crap on steam.
Greenlight failed, again.
