aka, what should I read? I asked for book recommendations in a group giveaway recently, and was pleased with the suggestions. As an extension of that, I'd like to hear what y'all are reading... so I can go look those books up too. I've been blessed with the twin gifts of a short attention span, and a powerful memory; I tend to read several books concurrently. What about you?

The Name of the Wind, The Wise Man's Fear - the first two books in a trilogy, the third is not out yet. They're very good fantasy novels.

Do Japanese light novels count?

If so I'm reading Infinite Stratos, BokuTomo, and a bunch of others I can't remember. I haven't read any regular books in a while (the only series I read seriously was Harry Potter... good stuff).

At the moment I'm only reading the rather short "Where is my jetpack" by Daniel Wilson. Mostly I try to read only one book at a time and my next one will probably be "The City of Dreaming Books" by the German author Walter Moers.

I've been reading the 1998 Resident Evil books by S.D Perry. It really helps sitting around in a booth all day go by fast.

Aside from the RE Novels that venomblade mentioned above. If you guys are interested in zombie apocalypse, I would highly recommend World War Z by Max Brooks.

It's not all about killing zombies and action; instead, it creates a believable post-apocalypse world: ranging from when the first case of infection occurred till the new world order established. Everything is crafted based on the contemporary world: the government, the war among countries, social problems, the media... The book tells a stories across the global through individual's eye: a doctor, a vet, a pilot or even a child and so on rather than focusing on a group of survivors. Hell, the book is pretty amazing in my opinion.

By the way, there is also an audio version if you want something more believable - the voice acting is pretty good though. Also, don't bother the Zombie Survival Guide, it's bad.

Carter Beats the Devil by Glen David Gold. You won't put it away.

Smilla's Sense of Snow by Peter Hoeg (in some ways much better than "Girl with Dragon Tattoo").

Stone's Fall by Ian Pearse (and Instance of Fingerpost if you haven't read that).

Actually reading George Orwell's 1984, Terry Pratchett's Sourcery, and re-reading D&D 4e's DM guide, plus some "The Trail of Cthulhu" adventures for the next session.
At the same time.
I should be studying, but I'm an idiot.

I'm also "reading" for some time now (that is, I left the books open and never went back to finish them) Dark Tower #4, Crossroads of Twilight (no vampires if you wondered, go back to your lair teen girls!), The Dispossessed, Silverthorn, ...

Anyone here using Goodreads?
