It depends, personally I love sci-fi and cyberpunk so I would recommend Neuromancer, Virtual Light from William Gibson, or Snow Crash from Neal Stephenson(some people prefer snow crash since it's more ADVENTUREEEE kind of). Also the saga of Tales of Earthsea by Ursula K Le Guin if you like more fantasy. Starhip troopers by Robert A Heinlein is awesome. Mmmmm I would recommend also American Gods from Neil Gaiman and the saga of Discworld by Terry Pratchett (best funny adventure ever).
Bonus track: Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

Thanks a lot! Trying to keep my reading muscle training all the time. I really recommend that you read Snow Crash, it was quite enjoyable and it's one of my favorite. I wish I could read Cryptonomicon, but I could only find the third one and since I live in a country wich has now put a lot of effort in blocking the arrival of books from other countries, I'm really scavenging for what I can find in bookstores, wich isn't a lot.

Haha, good timing for the recommendation! Passed a second-hand bookstore in town today only by chance and got lured inside by a free book offer of which I chose a Steampunk one. Found among others Snow Crash and went home having bought 5 books. :D
Too bad for you Argentina is blocking international books! :(

Nice, you're in for a ride! I also love steampunk but never actually found one book about it in here, truly sad.
Yes, it's a major pain in the ass because it's not only the books, it's almost everything. You need to pray to get something that you ordered from another country...or pay double. I want to move to another country but I can't even find a job so I can save some money. It sucks.
But anyway, hope you enjoy the book, if you need another recommendation maybe I can help =P

I just finished Fair Coin by E.C.Myers, a YA SciFi, very easy read, kinda wish it was getting a movie deal, its the type of book that could become a movie easily

Nice thread!
Lately I've been reading Stephen King's Saga of the Dark Tower, but it's rare to see them translated to Spanish so I only have up to the third book bought. A while ago I read a .pdf of the 4th book in english just because I wanted to know how they escape that damn train... And also wanted to kill myself for having to read it on Spanish translated by spanish people (instead of latin/neutral spanish)... translations, even when they're good, are never the same as the original. But meh, reading it on the computer isn't even close to reading a book, so I'll stick to them for now.
More recently I've been re-reading Franz Kafka's "Metamorphosis", "Mar's Chronicles" and Orson Scott's "Ender's Game". I have to ask a friend to lend me some of George R. R. Martin's books.

For class I assume? If so, I'm in the same boat. I'm reading World Religions Today, by John Esposito.

I've already done Camus. :) Enjoyed Myth of Sisyphus and L'Etranger. Planning to pick up The Fall someday (when there is no more backlog). Shame he died when he did.
Also Kafka and Dostoevsky (Notes From Underground). Considering Sartre but Nietzsche should probably take priority.

Don't forget Camus' La Peste.
It's one of his best in my opinion.

it has taken me 10 years but i've finally finished reading the lord of the rings in its entirety including all the appendices at the back.
-Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthey (finished, wow what an incredible writer, also not the easiest read)
-Eating the Dinosaur by Chuck Klosterman (a sociologist in disguise as a witty, pop-culture obsessed [yet pop-culture hating] journalist, some seriously great articles in it so far.)

aka, what should I read? I asked for book recommendations in a group giveaway recently, and was pleased with the suggestions. As an extension of that, I'd like to hear what y'all are reading... so I can go look those books up too. I've been blessed with the twin gifts of a short attention span, and a powerful memory; I tend to read several books concurrently. What about you?
