This. Sunk about 60 hours into the main campaign of the first game and there's still the 2 expansions of the first one for me to complete. Then there's the 2nd game and it's 2 expansions.

well, everyone has their own opinion :D but it's good game for me :D

I played the game till the end it was fine and I enjoyed it, never even looked up reviews for it. Besides what do reviews mean anyway? look at all the crappy COD games that get 9/10 ratings.

true. whenever i play a game or watch a movie, i never look at the rating. i just watch the trailer :D because every people have different taste :D

You might never find a game on PC as crazy and great as the Disagaia series.

I completely agree its one of my favorite series but I was hoping to find something that played like it :/

Then you'd have to wait for The Banner Saga whose very successful kickstarter ended a month or two ago. The game structure is based on two great games, Final Fantasy Tactics for hte Tactical RPG part, and King of Dragon Pass for the story telling and decision making part. All of this in a declining Viking era world.

No I don't but now you've made me want to play that one.

dawn of war 2 altho rpg is more like lvl up and a bit of gear it`s focused on tatical fighting(not turn based)

I'm not looking for a hack n slash dungeon crawler or something like that you all seem to have misunderstood me. [Also already have all 40K games they are great but again not what I'm looking for] I'm looking for more of a tactics type game such as the Advanced Wars or Fire Emblem Series but on PC are there any games like those?
Comment has been collapsed.
I have both of those Grotesque Tactics is actually kind of interesting but I haven't tried Future Wars yet I will have to look into it. Its a damn shame that there aren't really any Strategy Tactics type games for pc. Hopefully with XSEED being on Steam now they'll bring some of theirs over.

I already own it as well it kind of runs slow for me last time I tried to play it but I didn't have my drivers updated or anything so I might try reinstalling sometime soon.

I'll look into it I'm running with an Intel HD Graphics Integrated so some games run amazing well others not so much.

Don't really think this is a good RPG (I own it), Plus this is a traditional RPG. Not really the Strategy type RPG OP is looking for.

Fire emblem is awesome unfortunately there isn't any PC version

Dragon Age: Origins, not quite similiar to final fantasy but you can check it out if you didnt

I know what are you talking about but there are not so many games like that on steam, this was just an idea that might help
Comment has been collapsed.
No sadly I was hopefully for something different not the usual Orge Tactics or Fire Emblem/Disgaea something different for pc that maybe a indie or someone made that could be entertaining.

ePSXe 1.7 and Front Mission 3. You need nothing more (well, maybe a big Nestea jar)

I know you said Steam but I'm going to go with my all time favorite game "Baldur's Gate" on GOG.com. It's a pause-able realtime cRPG that might be different from the jRPG you're used to.
Comment has been collapsed.
It doesn't matter if its jrgp or not I'm just looking for a tactics kind of rpg.

Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale are considered some of the most tactical cRPGs of all time. It's 6 NPC party real time combat, heavily focused on tactics and item usage rather than levels and grinding. Although it applies puesdo-turn based elements, the whole game can be played in this turn based system if desired.
It's ADnD 2.0 which for many is considered the "golden era" for Dungeons and Dragons. Even if you're not into pen and paper or you don't like the stigma surrounding Dungeons and Dragons, it's really a wonderful series of games. The Black Isle or "Bioware" DnD games are often considered to be the best RPGs in history.
Icewind Dale is the tactically combat heavy game. Planescape: Torment has some of the best narrative seen in a video game, although it suffers from a lukewarm combat system. Baldur's Gate is the hybrid that applies a wonderful story and great combat, which for me, means it outshines the rest.

If you cite Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate, one cannot also cite Neverwinter Nights and Dragon Age : Origins.
Thing is, they are not really what he searches for. Unfortunately, TRPG with FFT style are almost inexistent on PC right now. At least taht I know of.

Jagged Alliance 2 Gold. A tactics game with a relatively strong CRPG-element. Unattractive graphics, but amazing gameplay. The new Jagged Alliance is apparently pretty decent as well, though not nearly as good as the original (based on what people have told me, I have not played it myself)

Spellforce is great. Now with new DLC. Haven't tryed out yet but still spellforce series are great...
Great staregy games are too Warcraft and Starcraft series that i love but they are not on steam. Only on Battle.net...
Oh and Company of heroes is great too.

CoH is really great, but it is strictly a TBS, not TRPG.

I'd say "Shining Force" and "Shining Force 2". Both Genesis games available on steam.
"Future Wars", while simplistic, kind of fits your needs. Though more on the "Strategy" than the "RPG".
"Grotesque Tactics" 1 & 2. Though, not sure the quality is any good.
Conclusion: Shining Force 1 & 2. If you've never played them, they are pretty awesome classics, and most comparable to things like Disgaea and Tactics (Both games I've played). Longer Strategic battles (10-30+ minutes). Lots of leveling up. Lots of item management (Not too overwhelming, i say this as a good thing). Excellent story, and lots of unique abilities and classes with class evolutions. Includes classic classes: healers, Archers, Knights, Mages, Animal, Pheonix, etc. Most classes can evolve into two new related classes. I will say though, that this is less generic than Tactics and Disgaea. Every character you get is a prenamed character, unique and obtainable in specific ways, with mostly their own stories. The scale of battle is very comparable to both games you listed (amount of units on screen etc). The only real difference in gameplay, is that Height isn't a factor, as it is 2D and relies more on Positioning and location types (Forest/mountain/water buffs/debuffs/travelSpeed).

Yup, the Shinning Force games are almost the only traditional JTRPG you can find on Steam, and I doubt there are non ported-oldies in that style anywhere.

OKay, real list:
X-COM (if you can handle old DOS graphics, one of the deepest games ever made)
Jagged Alliance series (I do not vouch for it, but I was asking friends)
Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel
Freedom Force and Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich (comic book super hero tactical RPG)
Of note:
Fantasy Wars and Elven Legacy
Disciples series
(not on steam:)
Battle of Wesnoth (It is free!!! http://wesnoth.org/)
Not Tactical RPG but still good rpgs that might tickle your fancy:
Fallout 1&2
Avernum, and all of spiderweb software. VERY RETRO WARNING!
Legend of Grimrock might be up your alley, its a first-person dungeon crawl, though.

Might & Magic Clash of Heroes. Best strategic game-play I've seen so far.

Postal 3 has got you covered! It's like a mixture of FF tactics with Postal 2 MP action! Best strategy your money can buy!

this looks awesome but it doesn't say if it works for Windows 7

Heroes V and VI. Though the SRPG combat is only about 1/3rd of the game; the rest is resource gathering, managing your army, building your town, exploring, expanding, etc... Or you could try the King's Bounty series, which is more like a "lite" version of the Heroes series.

Y's looks more like a sprite based action rpg and I'm waiting for a sale to get both of these.
