guidelines are somewhat unclear for my question..
Trade feedback should only be used to describe your personal trading experience with a user.......................................
............. (iii) for unrelated comments or trading experiences not directly involving you.
Impersonation Warning -Rep?? Am I allowed to -Rep a impersonator of my own to warn users that they are pretending to be me with links to both the fake user and myself to show the difference as evidence? imo it's debatable whether that is directly or indirectly involving me in the trade experience. i've had users warn me of their existance because they were scammed by them pretending to be me, and realized before they -rep'd me. the user in question wasn't and isn't an actual SG/ST user for them to of been -rep at the time, and now can. so a warning there would be nice. --- or do they have to strike again and get away with another scam in order for it to be a valid -rep?

i don't think so. i found so many obvious fake rep already. people give -rep for everything. for trades that didn't even happen. if someone removes you before you even trade, or if you couldn't get to an agreement because of language barriers, or negative feedback because of rude behaviour, or revenge rep - many of those are pretty obvious, and we can remove them now. i'm digging it.

i absolutely agree. that's why i skipped all those "-rep scammer" comments, even if the guidelines say negative feedback should contain information about the trade to some degree. but i fear i wash a scammer's reputation clear, if i do that. that doesn't mean the system is useless. not at all. i voted for more than 100 comments already. and i believe about a fourth or a third was clearly misuse of trade feedback. that's a lot. so, with clicking remove for those, i feel i already helped making the trade feedback a little more accurate.

I didn't manage a single one in my just-over-100 reviews- plenty I did skip on, but even the few I got that were legitimate were either too sparse on information or filled with harsh insults toward the other user.
Glad to hear there's at least some reasonable reviews out there.. :X

In one of the reviews, I'm pretty sure someone used 2 photoshopped photos to -rep someone, so beware, girls and guys, of the fake reviews. :/

Not sure why a seperate page is needed...but I guess we'll get used to it. I do like the look. Good job.
Only one thing that bugs me. Why is there no "Last" page button? Same for Wishlist GA pages. Just like the one here in Discussions.
Well, two things, the popups are annoying. I mark my messages read, popup. I bump my trade, popup. I don't think we need those.

That for the amount of complaints of "scammers", only 0.103% of the feedback is negative. That 1167 is the total amount of all -rep SteamTrades had since its creation, according to the text under it. And if the majority of these are revenge-reps or fake downreps, it means the site had less scammers reported in 4+ years than any other Steam trading site in 4 months. And that is really, really highly unlikely.
or, to put it in perspective: SteamRep has 33000+ filed reports and 9000+ pending reports. In this moment. SteamTrades has 1167 "reports". In total. That is not realistic.

I think it is a bit likely. You have to take into account how many impersonators there are on this site, most of which do not have an account registered here. Instead, they just copy the profile of someone that has high +rep. Not to mention the fact that support may have removed some themselves over the years (if they got around to it with the huge pile of tickets they receive daily).
If someone gets scammed by an impersonator, they would not be able to leave a negative rep on their profile as they do not have an account here (this is something that has just been added in with this update). Their only option was to go to SteamRep to report them.

That's correct, users are not able to vote on 100% of the reviews to help prevent any type of vote manipulation.

Okay, so what I missed in your first post is that you voted on every negative review possible. Hm, that the people in a forum are exagerating is normal although I also think that 0,103% is a pretty low amount.
Well, maybe we are only getting parts of it in order to avoid voting on reviews you know. That would make some sense.
Comment has been collapsed.
well, i think it includes both positive and negative.. but likely none have been removed, it hopefully requires a fairly large number of votes per -rep to actually get removed. it may not be quite as easy as people think to have them all cleaned up fast regardless how many you crank thru per day if many other people aren't cranking out a bunch of votes each day as well.
or even if a cple have been removed, some may of been added from fresh +rep to counter-balance it.
Comment has been collapsed.
Maybe you only vote on a subportion of reviews as referenced here
There are a few variables in place to help prevent vote manipulation. For example, there's a good chance none of your friends will even have the option to vote on the particular review you want removed.
So you only get to vote on 1% of neg rep or something.
Comment has been collapsed.
The system might detect that you're voting too much, and so limits you? Like if your friend tasked you to vote off one of their neg rep so you want to go through the entire pile to find theirs. Speculation

i agree that number actually appears to be pretty static even if we exclude the whole new system of voting/removing. people should of gained +rep by now since its launch 3.5hr ago. i think that is precisely the same number it was when i first visited it then.
as for the vote system though it may still be a long while and possible an interval time of purge the votes actually cause a deletion though, or we may still not of acquired the proper amount of votes needed. we don't really have those details to know the case there though.
hell they may consider that info so minor its only set to update it once every 24hours or something like that even.
Comment has been collapsed.
It probably updates once a day, like the SG stats pages. Let's check back tomorrow.

Great minds think alike!
Also yeah, I agree that it may be a long while to purge the neg rep. cg mentioned in the OP
The exact method of removal will be determined in the coming weeks as we better analyze user votes.
Maybe there will be a mod who looks at the votes and assess the feedback, and then hits the delete button.

talgaby for support! Just think of how many tickets you would blow through.

Went through about a dozen or two feedbacks and they are too depressing to continue. Such language. And almost all lacked useful information.

Since users feel they need more information when voting, the site has been updated to show usernames, permalinks, and replies (if available) on the voting page.
Comment has been collapsed.
OK, that's a major change, because we can now figure out much more context.

+1 / i like it though, much more fair voting imo even on those that are fairly generic but provided some details.
edit: wow yeah that helps.. ran across a generic "scammer dude" but it's obvious they really were, they are now steam community trade banned. - but all 6x -rep were too generic and would of eventually gotten removed with the anonymous system.
Comment has been collapsed.
This definitely helps, but now I'm a little unsure what to do regarding the instructions. If the report just says "scammer", per the instructions it should be removed as generic, but I just came across a person with 60 or more negative reps, so it's pretty certain the reporter did indeed get scammed, do we delete that or not?
Comment has been collapsed.
well.. i doubt they really earned all 60x.. some of them likely were "monkey see, monkey do". for instance i've seen people call out and then suddenly the person they called out jumped -3rep from people who saw it before they removed links to profile from being warned of the "no calling out rule". -- however i guess it's up to us to use our better judgment really. i let the "scammer dude" slide and voted allow because the user really was "Economy Banned" anyways.

+1 to slightly better context as to what we can or cannot remove. - also still wanna know if we are allowed to -rep our own impersonators as well, to better warn people against them (talking about people that aren't even SG/ST users)
but in the mean time, it's not like we are the judge on these. only the hypothetical jurors. use your personal judgment and come up with a conclusion of whether you think its valid or not. from the sounds of those, personally i'd let them stay or skip for others to decide.

Is there an RSS compatible link for https://www.steamtrades.com/messages for my own ID?
I'd like to setup IFTTT to email me when I get a message.

Good job guys! I really like these new improvements.
Maybe now my fake negative rep will be removed too.
Edit:
One question:
Why is there no way to search a specific word through messages of your trades? Loved that feature even while all the messages were together.

Okay, some major issues with the layout:

That's pretty much the first thing I did when the site got back online.
Previously, the only way I could post some kind of answer was by putting a false negative on the other guy's profile as well while clearly stating that I did not trade with him and that it was only there as a response to the negative rep on mine. So I was able to delete that also.
Glad we now have a proper way to respond.

Is there any info regarding how many/what percentage of downvotes is needed for an auto-removal of negative feedback? Would also be nice to be able to check someone's ST profile going there from his SG profile (Because why not? 2 sites still cross function after all).
P.S. This top left icon on ST site would be so much useful if it led to SG as a fast way to switch (since you can easily go to ST from SG by clicking "Trades" but can't do vice versa, apparently).

I'm sure it was fake, you know how these support people are.

Got in a similar situation a while back with someone throwing -rep around to a lot of traders, asking us to give him games to remove it.
It wasn't long before he got a lot of revenge rep and iirc, that's what triggered the first discussion about having a way to reply on the comments made. Although his behavior was a lot more clear hen you looked at all the retaliation rep he was receiving.

i know the guidelines are there for good reason, but i think a personalized judgment > guidelines.. i just hope that doesn't screw the system up to the point they won't be able to use the data if others don't agree with the same decisions.
to be clear: i mean on the obvious ones. most are very clear cut. those that are debatable i stick to guidelines for reference.

Hi SG, we're rolling out some updates to our trade section in the next 24 hours. These changes are mostly geared towards the separation of trades to SteamTrades.com, and improving on the feedback system. No major changes to the core of the trading system are happening in this particular update and the site will still maintain the familiar discussion based format. However, like most users, I'd like to see improvements in that area in the near future. Below is the upcoming announcement to be listed on SteamTrades.com, highlighting some of the more noteworthy changes.
User Reputation for All Steam Users
To help SteamTrades continue to grow as a leader in Steam user reputation, our site now allows reputation to be written for every individual with a Steam account. To leave a review for a user, simply visit our homepage and search for a Steam user using their Steam ID, Steam vanity name, or Steam profile URL. Once forwarded to their SteamTrades profile, you'll see an input box at the bottom of their profile allowing you to leave a review regarding your trading experience together.
Replies to Negative Reviews
If a user has left a negative review on your profile, SteamTrades now allows you to write a public reply to their review. This way you can better inform users visiting your profile about why that review exists, and at the same time it provides you with an opportunity to share additional details the user might have excluded from their review. Below a negative review on your profile you'll see a Reply button, which you can click to add your reply. Please note, replies are only available for negative reviews.
Negative Review Voting
To help improve the quality of negative reviews and to help remove negative reviews that do not meet our standards, we added a voting page, where users can vote on negative reviews from others in the community. Using the guidelines listed, users can vote on whether a negative review should be allowed, or whether it should be removed from our site. Reviews will be automatically removed if decided on by the community.
User Profiles and Safety Check
User profiles now contain a safety check. This data is updated hourly, and helps you to be aware of any Steam infractions a user may have against their account (such as VAC or game bans). As well, user profiles show when a user registered on Steam, when they were last logged into Steam, their Steam level, and their game count (if their Steam account is public). Combined with our user reviews, this data can help you better determine a user's overall reputation before trading.
Design and Interface
Our entire site has been redesigned and recoded with a wide variety of improvements. The changes allows for quicker replies, and overall faster load times. Our database is now separate from our sister site, SteamGifts. Users with previous trades or reputation have been automatically moved to our new site. However, with separate databases, this will mean usernames on SteamTrades may differ from those on SteamGifts, and suspensions on one site do not affect usage on the other. For that reason, profiles on SteamTrades link to Steam IDs, rather than usernames to help avoid confusion.
