My rescue cat Teddy passed away yesterday at age 15+. I had him for the last 1.5 years of his life when he was battling gum disease and liver cancer. It wasn't easy for him in the streets but he survived and thrived for more than a decade, charming residents with his looks and sociability. I met him late in his life when he was visibly struggling to eat. He fit right in with the rest of my cat family.

I had just found out his liver cancer had spread 3 days ago and brought him in to the vet yesterday when he stopped eating for 24 hours. We made the tough decision to let him rest when the vet told us he had massive internal bleeding. I was relieved that his last meal was his favorite steamed mackerel. I will love you and miss you forever, Teddy. If the fates are kind, I hope and pray I will see you again

What a beautiful little (despite being 15+ years old) cat and what a cute meow he does in the second video 🥺

Sorry for your loss. Thank you for taking good care of him. I'm sure you made him the happiest cat during the final years of his life with lots of steamed mackerel.

You got me tearing up. Very sorry for your loss of a great friend. He looks a bit like my Rocky, who also was a rescue, who I've had since he was a kitten 7 years ago this month. I hope beyond hope that we have at minimum another 7 and more because I cannot begin to imagine what I would do if I lost him, and I'm glad you have a cat family to help you endure your grief and pain. God/Science Bless you and yours and may you one day reunite in eternal serenity.

Sorry to hear about Teddy. Hope he rests in piece now.

But I bet he was happy and glad that you took him in and gave good last years for him :)

This year we also rescued a kitten from streets and nursed her back to health (with a very similar fur color as Teddy) and named her Pica (which can be pronounced as Pizza, despite not being the idea behind the name. But we still liked it because she likes to eat a lot). We noticed she was peeing on the floor and in the shower and turned out she has urinary problems and that's probably why someone threw her out on the streets in the first place. Its horrible when people don't realize animals are also living beings and can suffer from deceases. I am truly happy to see that you took Teddy in despite having health issues.
