Nice move, ballbag.
Welcome to blacklists everywhere.

Basically you're an asshole and proud to brag about it. Nice.

It appears someone is reporting him to the police xD

I'm not very in with how SG works but I can't blacklist him because of this? Any idea why he has a suspension and why this means I can't blacklist him?
I actually spoke to this guy the other day as he wanted to trade and he seemed okay. But that is just not enough to stop him getting on my blacklist
EDIT: Oh my word I am a massive idiot. The blacklist button is just underneath. If I had a spec of humility to start with, it would be gone right now. But still, is there any way to know how he got suspended?

is there any way to know
howwhy he got suspended?

The right thing to do is to contact the seller, tell him what happened, and offer to pay him the amount he was asking. Now that you have redeemed the key, it is no longer usable by anyone else, so there is no other way to "fix" the situation.
Of course, you could always do nothing, in which case you will have to make amends with God and the seller at some future point in time.
Comment has been collapsed.
Heh. No, just because those keys are expensive as fuck. The last I ever heard about a working Steam key for that game like 2 years back was for almost half thousand dollars. I think it was overpriced, but shows the magnitude these games sold on the second-hand market.
Comment has been collapsed.
It has been removed ages ago and Steam keys are the rarest. The last great batches were up in trade forums for 40-60 CS:GO keys at the minimum, and eBay had even more ludicrous prices. The funny part is that the disk version can be bought for like 5-10 dollars.

This game is considered as cult classic and best game about mafia ever.

Congrats, you're the first person I've ever blacklisted.
Comment has been collapsed.
I know they aren't against the rules, and I wasn't implying that the thread was the reason the OP was suspended. I was stating that I love it when assholes (like the OP) post shitty threads about something stupid, thus attracting attention to themselves, which then results in them getting into trouble for something other than the thread they've made.
Comment has been collapsed.
Maybe those who write here "thief", "backlisted", "call the interpol" need to calm down. This removed game still can be easily found everywhere for near 5$ and I think the seller even don't care or don't know (his fault) that key can be activated on steam that's why post the picture, so if he doesn't care.......why you? Also I think that the OP didn't steal anything, he just was lucky to find a free key giveaway on ebay :D that's all........btw this is what almost all people doing here at this site (looking for some free shit). His mistake was a creation of this topic and removing a game from account.
Comment has been collapsed.
The difference is we are not taking keys or gifts that are not ours to take.
This person took that persons key that was part of his property until the time is sold or transfer of ownership takes place. They took the key without there permission in what world do you live in where taking something that is not yours is okay?Even if the seller had no clue does not make it okay that it happened. That is like saying that since he is blind he will not care if i take his bicycle after all he will not know i took it nor will he ever need it.
We are here for a chance to win a game, that is far from "free stuff" that like saying you play the lotto for free money, when it cost to play.In fact a lot of users have given far more then they won so i would say that is far from being here for "free stuff"
Comment has been collapsed.
I understand it was bad move especially for seller, but that's in people nature, you can keep what you found (get for free) or give it back to the owner (tell him what he lost) and I think I know what most people will choose.
Ah and I also can ask in what world do you live if you think you can put something in internet (like your personal data / copys of your ID/ Passport / Credit cards info/ Public steam keys) and no one will take advantage from this exploit (or people first need to read instruction not to do this)? So bad example about blind bicycle raider :D
Comment has been collapsed.
It's not an exploit, it's illegal. Regardless of WHY your credit card details are on the internet anyone who uses them who is not you is breaking the law.
It doesn't matter how easy stealing it, NOTHING makes it right because someone always loses out.
Comment has been collapsed.
Credit card can be tracked... but why everyone is stating abut it as stealing which is more of a serious crime? Yes its taking without permission but nobody could even know who took the key if he never say about it. Its a foolproof looting unlike the use of credit card and taking money which is in the open. But if he himself feel no guilt how can you judge him? Even I, myself dun even how to react to the post....
Comment has been collapsed.
Simple fact is, due to his actions the seller and the buyer are potentially gonna have issues. Best case scenario the buyer only loses the sale and some money. Worst case... He gets a bad review and the seller gets a key that does not work. And this was all so the OP could use the key for a game he does not care about and actually removed it from his account. These are the actions of a douche. I don't care too much about what he legally is entitled to. Simple fact is, he either was careless enough to not consider the ramifications of his action or he doesn't care. I can even understand that he was bored and not expecting the key to.work, but making the topic here shows his lack of thought and immaturity level.
Comment has been collapsed.
Maybe where you are from that is okay or morals do not play much of a role in your life if you think it okay to claim anything you find.
Here though if you find something your suppose to turn it in and after so long if nobody claims it they you can have it free and clear.Granted they could do little to know who got it if nobody saw and and such.So it mostly down to a moral thing of keeping something that does not belong to you, everything has an owner.
Also why would you ask something like where in the world do i live if someone post something on the internet for the public that someone will not take it?It still does not change the fact it still does not belong to the person who used/took it they did not have permission to take it.Just because someone else will take advantage does not make it ok.
The bicycle thing was to point out just because the owner is not aware of the situation does not mean it is okay to take advantage of them.As you could take his bike and he could do little to stop you or identify you.Why would he care anyhow after all he is blind and can not use it so he is out This would have happened to this seller if they did not come here and brag about stealing it.
Bottom line is they stole it regardless of how many reason you can think of to rationalize what he did as okay.Just the same as you come across a post with someone SS# or person info you still have no right to use it and you will be charged with identity theft if caught, but by your logic if it posted on the internet it is free will for anyone. While that is true anyone could use it but again it does not make it okay and right to take it.
Comment has been collapsed.
With the same logic, if an old lady is near me, she isn't looking at me, and she has her bag open, then I should think: "Oh, she's surely giving away her wallet to me! Well, I'm sure she won't mind", right? I know I'm exaggerating, but what you wrote doesn't make any sense.
Comment has been collapsed.
Of course a seller like an old lady was not looking at him when he grab this key. And also everybody here forgot to mention that the seller surely was giving away the key to him for free as you can see that seller wrote under the picture small letters "this steam key only for damn fast ninjas" and now everybody think that the OP is a thief, but he is a true ninja
Oh I'm already tired to laught from this topic, case closed :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Are you kitten me right meow? -_- Yep, he is a true ninja thief. :P
Comment has been collapsed.
He stole though, sadly, because the key was there by accident, and by using it up, he destroyed it for online use permanently. One of the reasons people are still hunting Prey disks is to activate the keys on Steam, since it is considered one of the more sought-out removed games, and it enjoys the rare situation where you still can use the old CD keys. So yes, OP made sure that the product there lost most of its value by locking it down to disk-only, whether the seller even knew about this situation or not.
Most sellers of Prey don't though, this is part of the reason the game is still cheap enough.

Haven't seen a thread explode like this in quite awhile. lol

Ahh, I'm finally putting more and more people on my blacklist =D. Keep it coming. Honestly, even if I saw the code I wouldn't automatically think steam code.I certainly wouldn't try it either.
Comment has been collapsed.
Whoa, what a dick move.
I'm always strongly against blacklisting, but in your case, I'm making an exception. Moron.
Comment has been collapsed.
Haha, very nice. -_- You're officially an internet thief now. Have fun stealing games. :D The least you could do right now is buy another Prey and give it to your victim. I'm sure that everyone would forgive you that way. It's your second chance. Grab it please. :/
And, to answer your question, no, I wouldn't try to activate it. I would actually try to warn him.
Comment has been collapsed.
Also, what's even worse is that you brag about it. Hehe, look everyone, I'm a thief. -_- But as I said before, I believe in second chances, so everything will be cool if you will buy another Prey for your victim. Have a nice day. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
True. He can just buy it from his victim. Excellent idea. Still, a theft is a theft, no matter if the victim is considered "stupid" or not.
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually, he really should buy it, because now if you buy that particular disk and provide evidence to Valve that you have this disk and you want to reclaim your "stolen" account by supplying such evidence, they would give you hie entire Steam account. Not joking, this is one of the trusted methods by Valve to identify real owners, using physical disk codes activated on accounts.

To all the guys/girls who are UTTERLY upset because of OP, here is something to calm you down--->Mhm,Indeed
Also, why all that hate towards the guy? If you think that he did something wrong, just blacklist/report him and move on. There's no need for calling him names like thief, asshole, douchebag etc...
True, MAYBE he did wrong, maybe he shouldn't have stolen that key, maybe he should have reported the key to the seller, but there's really no need for all that hate.
Comment has been collapsed.
I can't believe someone would do something like this.
Pure idiocy.
Should spend your time doing more productive things.
Welcome to everyone's blacklist and have fun with the suspension.
Comment has been collapsed.
Holy shit all the righteous people in this thread.
Some idiot posted a cd key on the internet, the first guy that tried to activate it is now the devil?
I'm sure hundreds of people tried now if he didn't take that picture down already.
The nice thing to do would be to contact the seller and say hey bud.. you left the cd key in the picture, so you might wanna cancel that auction because it's used now.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's the fact that he did try it. When presented with a scenario like that your morals are tested. He TRIED to get something free at the cost of an everyday man, and succeeded. It didn't just automatically activate. He purposefully tried to steal the game without paying for it and THEN he came to a forum to tell everyone, not the smartest thing to do.
Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. This is not some publisher corporation we are talking about here, this is straight out exploiting some poor shmuck on ebay.
If someone accidentally posted a screenshot of their credit card details, it does not make it right to use that information for personal gain simply because "you can".
There are millions of scumbags in the world, that's not news to anyone, but most of them don't gloat about their actions on a forum based on generosity and good will.
Comment has been collapsed.
With a corporation, you can assume they can take it. Plus it can also be a question of where you live. Some corporations more or less calculate within the budget that the employees will use company assets to personal use, rules or no rules. (Including "borrowing" small stuff like paper, pens by taking it home.) Heck, I knew a company where all people used the Enterprise edition mass activated Windows XP licenses at home, even though strictly saying it wasn't legal.

Theft is a big no-no and since when did it matter if you was rich or poor? theft is theft....
Wow i thought i had some weird logics
Morality...is determined by each person so there is no real right or wrong that is determined by each person.
Or i can sum it up for you...
principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior
Only each person can decide what is right or wrong, nobody can decide for them. After all if i think something is wrong, but the other person does not they are still going to do it if there morals tell them it is okay.
Life is what it is and some people do not care about morals while others do and that what makes the difference from right or wrong not what suome high society says.
Comment has been collapsed.
Usually by morality we mean not some individual's rules, but some general norms, widely accepted by some society. All the moral laws which individual has are determined by society. Every person cares about morals, everyone considers himself if not good, but at least not worse than most.
Also you contradict yourself saying that morality laws are relative, not absolute, but first telling that theft is universal no-no.
Comment has been collapsed.
You caught me...now i shall run for the hills...catch me if you can...
Actually i never said stealing had anything to do with morals in that post i said stealing is a big no no,i meant from a law stand point but i should have been more clear on that.I also think moral still plays a role in it regardless if its wrong or not by the law but a personal moral by each individual not some group of high society nut jobs who think they are better then everyone else below them..As there are lots of laws that have nothing to do with moral like paying taxes.
Regardless of morals i think stealing is wrong not just on a moral level but also as a law and it not worth the punishment. It still just what i think and that being said each person can choose to do as they wish.
Still regardless moral is still up to each person, just because of the actions you do may lead to your arrest or punishment still does not mean society decides them for you.
Cheating is morally wrong but there is no law against it.Point is each person still decides what is morally wrong and what is not.
Just because say my neighbor thinks what i am doing is against morals mean nothing to me if i think what i am doing is not, again morals are of each persons idea of right or wrong.
Still everyone is still free to share if they thinking something is morally wrong but just because someone says it is does not make it so for everyone just in the eyes of the people who say it is.
Moral
a person's standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not acceptable for them to do.
Also can be used as..
holding or manifesting high principles for proper conduct.
a lesson, especially one concerning what is right or prudent, that can be derived from a story, a piece of information, or an experience.
concerned with the principles of right and wrong behavior and the goodness or badness of human character.
None of these refer to society as a whole deciding it nor laws. They all share the basis of being someone opinion on what is right or wrong. They usually also steam from someo

With intellectual property, it is a little part of their lives too. Like how film distributors know exactly where their stuff is uploaded to, but they can also just turn it around to advertisement or just know that it is kept on levels where it's not a substantial loss on measurable scale. Or how software companies can calculate real user base and paid user base – like how MS knows exactly how many illegal Windows installations are out there, not like we can hide from it. (Or heck, how comic book companies pretty much assume every book sold means roughly 4-6 readers.)
Depends on company and product though, naturally. If you make physical products, especially small and expensive ones, they bring down thunder and lightning hard. But nobody will actually look into why an office of 20 needs 50 pens every half a year.
Comment has been collapsed.
doesn't mean they like it, it just means it costs more to combat than they'd get out of leaving it be. A.K.A. why they go after mass uploaders rather than individuals.
Many media companies now pay servicers to look for violators and issue take-down notices. They know they can't stomp out all piracy, but they try to minimize their loss by maximizing their anti-piracy activity.
Note that "they" are going through more and more effort to try to reduce piracy. Consoles keep upping the in-built DRM (see x box one's aborted measures), and microsoft is working on locking software and movies to your individual hardware.
anti-piracy is big business, and if it were possible, movie studios, game studios, software houses, etc. would shut it all down. Shutting every act of piracy down is prohibitively expensive, so they do a cost-benefit calculation, and go as far as they can before it gets too expensive.
Comment has been collapsed.
likewise, a company turns a blind eye to you stealing the occasional pen, but if you start carting boxes off, you will get in trouble

Well ... as I already said, assuming the listing was posted for 30 days, the key was already there for 36 hours before OP tried it. The other thing is that it appears he was intentionally trying to do this as he was searching for a game he had no interest in.
