I'm a very frugal person. I tend to look for great deals to get GAs because I don't have a lot of money. I know my level might seem otherwise, but really I'm very careful about what I spend to be able to gift to others....

But this time I am really considering just buying Tier 3 because it has a wishlisted Game.

Should I do it? Try to win it?

Opinions, please!

Update!

Verdict is in after hearing the most convincing argument is this: I won't play it immediately.
Heck I still need to play Dragonfall.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm glad you decided not to buy it. The right move, in my opinion. I have stopped aiming up for higher tiers, when they have problematic pricing. I know the temptation of going up, but the problem is the separation of tiers.

If the third tier is loaded, then it usually drags the BTA up and makes it worth it. You then might get a game or games for 75% off or better. In this case, like in most cases, it isn't considered good enough to move the BTA up. That puts it in a questionable territory where you can usually get the game cheaper in a sale. The Capcom bundle was just like that, as well, and I still don't have one of the two third tier games for it.

Which leads to the next issue. You then think ok, maybe I can trade for it. Well people that go up that high usually either keep the items or jack up the prices. If it is too expensive for you, what is it going to be like with a middleman? It is probably worse with just one game, as opposed to two or three, where someone might go up to get themselves one. No matter what, that game will be hard to come by. I mean maybe you can take an old third tier game and offer it, but who knows.

There is an approach that may work for you, though. If you hang around Group Buys, there may be someone that ends up with a fairly high BTA purchase. Not like ridiculous with a bundle like this, but lets say it increases eventually to like $4.50 or higher. If you really want it then, you may be able to ask them if they wouldn't mind selling you just the third tier. That way all you do is pay the difference and it would then be close enough to 75% off that at least you can say you got it close to the likely sale price.

On the other hand, the Summer Sale is coming soon enough, that you may find it at your price, by then. Though, it should be noted that most games don't have good sale prices during the major sales. They have become really spread out, throughout the year. I think they are scared to run sales for that long.
