for me RPG is not a genre - it's a game mechanic...
RPG can be set into adventures, simulations and alot other genres... who cares, they mix it all today...^^

And anything with choices that at least sort of matter. Or for some reason i really like games that have an open world feel but are still pretty linear. I blame Mass Effect for this.

I'm a bit lost what to vote for. I'd say "adventure", but from what I get from Steam tags, this term gets applied to basically anything this days (platformers, RPGs, action - a bunch of stuff aside from my favourite genre). Point-and-click would be too narrow, it's just a gameplay mechanics. I guess, it's a language barier of some sort: during quite a lengthy period of lack of access to international tradition we used to call these games "quests" after early Sierra games, now we mostly use the term "advenchura" (Russified version of "adventure"). Do you really call games that don't use point-and-click mechanics (like The Cat Lady or original Grim Fandango) point-and-click as well?
