Are you calling me fool? or a bot?
i am genuinely thankful for the opportunity on every giveaway I enter and will thank the gifter almost every time.

I just like saying a thank you for the games I'm really happy to see given away - rarer games, or games about I'm really thrilled (maybe winning! nnnnngh)
Also, I always say thank you for puzzle giveaways, group giveaways - because they wanted a special group of people to win it - including me! :) Nowadays because I see that some people don't like the comments, I don't say a thank you if there is absolutely no description on the giveaway. Not because of being rude, apparently that giveaway's goal is to give away a game, not striking a conversation.
And, of course, if there is a question I try to answer it - favourite game, colour, movie, anything. I already had some great talk with giveaway makers by answering their questions, reading and replying for others'.... :)
TL;DR: I try to be polite. If owner wants answers, or no thanks, I'll do what s/he asks for, because they deserve it to make possible for me to win a game I want :)

I feel bad when I see a giveaway with no thank-you's on it; it's as if NO ONE appreciates the giveaway, so I've always said something up 'til now... Now I don't know what I should do! Go with my gut instinct to be sure that the person knows that they're appreciated, or not say anything because some people don't want to be thanked! >_<

Duno , i say thanks on the giveaways for the games i really care.
I dont really understand why people get mad @ it .
Tbh if ppl didnt say thanks , there would be a topic ( Why does everybody DONT say thanks in the comments of everything? )
Also Thanks

I don't know why these complaints about people who says "Thanks" in the giveaways. I like to say thanks too, I feel better for thanking the chance that someone else has given to the community. Sometimes I say it in a different language or just differently, and/or with an emoticon, and sometimes I don't in public giveaways when the comments section is too filled to avoid spamming it (but I always thanks the giveaway creator properly if I win). But when I do a giveaway I love to see these comments, is common courtesy, and I don't like when I don't, especially if the winner never said thanks in the comments and after receiving the gift. When that happens I always feel bad and I think that's a good reason to blacklist. But why the people with proper manners have to be punished for being thankful? I say if they want to say thanks, go ahead and say it if there wasn't a special rule about it. If the giveaway creators don't want these in the comments, they can say it in the description. I can understand that and always read it first just in case. But arguing about this and blacklisting people for this is way too much. I don't believe that people use bots to say thanks, that sounds like a imaginary urban legend. Is too much trouble for something so simple.
I guess people bothered about this like to suck a lemon... (:P)

Interesting. When I do a public giveaway, I'm doing it to give more people a chance at a game that they might not have in a group. I never thought of it as just a game dump - if I wanted to dump a game, I'd go someplace else like reddit or Cheap Ass Gamer for that.

I don't mind people saying "thanks" on my giveaways. In fact I appreciate it. It's nice and show they have manners...

Wow, what times do we live in.
We are blacklisting people that take their time to say "thank you" to someone who gifts a game to the community...
I see that it can be annoying to get 500 notifications because you've created a giveaway. But blacklist? Come on.
How about SG implementing a new subfolder where only comments from giveaways are stored in and you can turn the notifications off?

Open any random public GA and usually there is about 5 comments on 100 entries so I would not go as far as to say everybody is spamming 'Thanks'. It may be generic but it is at least some way of showing appreciation. Even people using scripts at least took some time to set it up unlike majority who does not bother to say anything or even download script.
Anyways, as for myself, for most of the GAs I use generic Thanks mate, which I always type myself. When the GA is especially appealing or something is stated in the description that encourages different kind of comment I usually try to come up with something more original.

I find it kind of weird how something can have like 50 comments and all of them are just "Thanks!!!" "Thanks :)" or something like that. It makes it look like everybody is just spamming it.
