I do not watch a lot of movies or shows anymore, but the last book I read that really made an impact on me was The Animators by Kayla Rae Whitaker

Book: Dictator's Handbook An interesting path of discovery about why governments are the way they are.
Movie: Samaritan Gritty Superhero movie with Stallone in it. Can't really reveal alot without spoilers.
Show: Person of Interest While supposedly fictional, this show seems more and more real everyday. Man builds a machine that predicts bad behavior and filters it for "extra bad" activity to send to the government and ignores the more common crimes like murder. Man who helped invent it gets it to print out only the social security number to him of someone involved to investigate and possibly avert bad events.

If anime is anyone's thing, and I'm going to be the weird one making a recommendation for something that has only 1 episode out, Akiba Maid War's first episode is a huge, crazy reminder for what anime should be. It was a fantastic start. Don't just read the description and leave it there, go watch it!

Since it's spooky month, I'll recommend something appropriate for the movie: Train to Busan
And can't not recommend the Discworld book series by Terry Pratchett even though they're not spooky at all ^__^
Enjoy your holiday Cj!

Movie - Belyy Bim Chernoe ukho(1977) Original title - Белый Бим Черное Ухо.
Just a good old soviet movie. Something like Hachiko. The movie is based on the book of the same name, so you have the choice to read or watch or both at once :)

Show: Hannibal
One of my all time favorite shows! Note it is quite dark and graphic; definitely not a show for everyone! You don't need to be a fan of the Hannibal Lecter franchise to enjoy this (I wasn't). Here's a small taste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asfwKrdnFmQ 😉

I somehow just now saw this thread despite being here all the time.
My go to movie recommendation is Predestination. It's a 2014 Australian film starring Ethan Hawke. I discovered it on a reddit thread where people were suggesting movies to go into completely blind. I recommend that if you choose to watch this, do the same thing. I found it to be a really fun ride. I rarely rewatch movies ever, but this one I watched alone and then immediately again with my SO.
If you (or anyone) ever decides to watch it, shoot me a message. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Book (I absolutely hate having to only choose a single one, so I'll go with what I'd say is my top book I read this year even though so many could have that spot): The Sunbearer Trials
Fantastic book, was the first I've read from the author authough I've had his first, Cemetery Boys, for a while, and oh boy is he a fantastic writer. Meme-y, funny as hell, but a strong and emotional story with such beautiful descriptors.
Movie: The Sea Beast
Genuenly, a fantastic film. Great comedy, good story, beautiful animation.
Series: Inside Number 9
British dark comedy anthology show, each episode tells a different story that somehow relates to the number 9, and is set in a single location. Such a wonderful array of stories spanning so many genres. The 2018 halloween special is an absolute terrifying delight even when it's not aired live. Reccomended episodes as starting point/s in no particular order: A quiet night in, Mr King, The 12 Days of Christine, Nana's party, The Riddle of the Sphinx, Dead Line (the 2018 special, keep in mind this was originally aired live), Misdirection, Wuthering Heist

Book: Solo Levelling - Korean Manhua (Manga), easy to digest if you understand the Korean tropes, good starting point in strip novels.
Movie: Silence - Classic Scorsese film that isn't your typical mob flick, as I've grown older I've come to appreciate this film more.
Series: Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes - Probably the most interesting true crime I've watched in a while.

Book:The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Movie: The Fly The original movie from the 50's is good, but I recommend the version with Jeff Goldblum, it's a classic!
Show: Bite Size Halloween This horror anthology has bite size (3-15 minute) episodes that are totally binge-able!

No more copy pasta.
Hello and welcome to the madness!
The challenge is simple: Recommend 1 Book/Movie/Show that you enjoyed.
To clarify, you only need to make one recommendation in any category
The prize: Slime Rancher 2
Length and age do not matter. So long as you recommend something, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and pick something popular or go crazy and recommend something super obscure. So long as you genuinely enjoyed it, it is all good.
Just post a comment with your recommendation and you are good to go. Feel free to share your thoughts on why you made the recommendation, but it is not required.
FAQ:
Why you doing this?
I hate money. That and I'm not going to be here for the second half of the month and I didn't want to stop the count with an awkward pause.
I've only watched the first 5 minutes/read the first page and thought it was the best thing ever, can I pick it for the event?
I guess. Not sure why you would, but you do you.
Can I pick something that's not in English?
Of course. The world is a big place and I'm sure there are subtitles/translations. If not, share anyways.
Why only 1 recommendation?
My book backlog is almost as bad as my steam one and I'm no better with shows/films. I want to at least convincingly lie to myself that I'll be able to make a good effort with the recommendations made here.
Wait, if you're not here to give us the link, how can I join?
You can find the link here.
If we can just join, what is the point of making a recommendation?
Only a monster would do that. And you're not a monster right? Don't break my heart D:
This event "ends" on November 1st when the next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to make a recommendation in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I can guarantee that you'll be able to join the giveaway in time.
Good luck, have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for reading, and know that I won't be checking my emails.
