So the end of the year is almost here so I think this is a valid thread (though for some the worst purchase may come via the Steam Winter sale so in that case feel free to reference this thread at that time).

So what is the game you wish you didn't shell out the cash for this year?

For me the award goes to Guild Wars 2. That's probably shocking to some and even myself because I really wanted and thought
i'd fall in love with that game but it just won't grab me no matter how many times I try to get into it.

Arma II for the DayZ Mod. I've literally played less then 10 minutes. It's way too glitchy.

Mass Effect 3 obviously.
By the way; GW2 FTW! 400 hours and counting. Glad I did buy it. way better than WoW or any other Mmo

Section 8: Prejudice and Mount and Blade with Fire and Sword... I thought Section 8 looked cool, I hate it... Mount and Blade? I don't think that one is very good, I hadn't played it very long but I am not a fan of that...

Oh trust me, I know, I just didn't have enough to get Dark Messiah and Warband so I figured Fire and Sword would be fine... It isn't... Dark Messiah is awesome though, I love the combat. A little buggy and annoying at times (like anywhere with Leanna) but all in all it's one of my favorite purchases...

Iron Front: Liberation 1944. I can't believe I paid a lot of money for this unplayable garbage. It's a shame to Arma 2 engine :/

I'd say Mass Effect 3, but the multiplayer is actually pretty satisfying.

Sonic Adventure 2. Half-assed port with Dreamcast graphic that couldn't even playable properly on an integrated graphic card.

Worms Revolution. It looked good! New gameplay elements (water physics and weapons! classes! something new from Team 17 instead of yet another rehash of Worms: Armageddon!), better graphics, and it came with a free copy of W:A if you preordered.

Horrible console port, graphics made it laggier than Satan's digestive tract, little to no support, completely broken challenge timers considering that the AI would sit and waste time thinking (that time counted against you for hitting the target), and... classic weapons, including the Armageddon weapon locked behind overpriced DLC. The only good thing about it was that now I have a copy of WA on Steam, fully legit.

Amnesia. Just have too many for all that begging.

Dead Horde. Of all the cheap-looking games where I kill tons of monsters, this one manages to actually handle as well as it looks. Every time a bunch of monsters show up, my fps drops the whole session. The scale of weapon damage doesn't keep pace to where I prevented one extra bullet per kill.

A horror game is "too scary"? It should be. If I don't like sports games cause they're too boring IMO I don't play them. Don't like being scared? Don't play horror games. As simple as that. You can't blame from horror genre for being "too scary". That's the point.

I like warhammer so I picked up the bundle and have hardly touched ANY of the games. Still less regrettable than D3.

I bought it on Amazon for USD 4.99 sometime during summer; played it for half an hour then kept it aside as a good game that I would return to later; then I got it again in the Humble THQ Bundle, followed by a copy of it on Facebook and a third extra copy of the game on Amazon's Tantalizing THQ Medley (bundle).

as did I, on the xbox. and it is still in its plastic. with assasins creed 2, and fable 3 all unplayed.

Id say the xbox is probably my most regretted purchase, ive used it so little. I use the old xbox more than the new one.

One of the best FPS games I played. Re-downloaded 2 days ago and got almost 14h on it since and almost 40 in total. If I knew it will be this good before release I would have bought me self some Collectors Edition if possible.

I don't buy a lot of games, so I actually don't regret any of my purchases. I enjoy GW2 very much though, but it might be because I never played GW1. I didn't have a lot of previous expectations, more than what I'd seen in videos.

Darksiders II. Not because it's bad, but because I preordered it and I still have to really start playing it. Seeing it everywhere now on a sale doesn't help.
