Here's a few songs from The Cat Lady soundtrack that definitely fit. I was pleasantly surprised when they started playing in the game. This is a dark game about depression and suicide so you can guess the type of songs. They are probably not the kind of songs you are going to sing along to, but I enjoyed them so much that I waited in each part of the game to listen to the full song. It's an emotional game and the songs fit in with the plot, so they may not be as powerful outside of the game.

It's more of an interactive story than a traditional point and click, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Indeed, for me it has a sweet spacey vibe, good mixture of electronics and orchestra. I know the game has a bad reputation, but the composers have done a fantastic job with the soundtrack.

Rome Total War has an amazing soundtrack that just fits the setting perfectly.
Brutal Legend is also very fitting.

EDIT: Also: Crusader Kings II. Even the metal DLC soundtracks fit the setting. It's very well done.

Can't like them at the moment

Friend has Hearts of Iron IV and in it can be bought Sabaton Soundtrack which is pretty cool, Sabaton after all have many great songs :)

I got that one as soon as I saw it existed. Sabaton is one of my favorite bands. I have so far only heard one or two songs of them I didn't like (and I only don't know one album of them).

I have Brutal Legend waiting for a playthrough and i like the metal theme in game, same friend recommended it to me.

You should really play it. The gameplay itself is... average, but the soundtrack and all the references just make it so much better.#

He has Rome Total War and Crusader Kings II as well. He got later while ago and it's soundtrack was pretty nice to ears from what i heard of it.

It totally is. While it's not something I'd listen to on my own, they both fit the setting so well and are generally very well done soundtracks.

Endless Legend's soundtrack is a beauty.

Tales from the Borderlands is pretty damn cool.

I know it's not released yet and we might even wait a few more years but Star Citizen is gonna be epic in this regard. Lots of tracks are already out there, my favorites are from Pedro Camacho (and more) (and even more eargasm), i'm sure people will talk about this guy after the game is fully released.

Other than that i heard good things about Furi's soundtrack, can't wait to get my hands on this game.

And to finish on a classic, Zelda OOT remain my fav. :P

If you haven't played TFTB yet, give it a shot ASAP, i can't recommend enough. :) Especially if soundtrack is important for you, it has some of the best openings/credits i've seen in any games. Can't go wrong with this game.

Well, this is another chance to pitch Ikaruga's soundtrack.

  • It's structured like an opera - leitmotifs, recurring and evolving themes and everything included. So it's a coherent whole from start to finish while keeping things varied.
  • The anachronistic mix of synths and traditional intrsuments goes well with the game's art style, and as the mood changes in the music, it does so in the game's backgrounds too.
  • Last but certainly not least: The game's code level design (enemy placements, movements and attack patterns, this being a shmup) are choreographed to the music as much as possible. That's right, the rest of the game was made to fit the music. Can't get more spot-on than that.

I think this is the entire soundtrack. The game is really fun, at least for awhile, but it's the soundtrack that really made it amazing for me.

It's not, here's the entire one. Contains some instrumental versions at the end, dunno if they're used in the game.

Edit: Might want to start at the second track, the first isn't as impressive as the ones that follow.

Came here to say this. It's both the most fitting game soundtrack ever and the one I've listened to most outside the game. It's even ahead of Simcity 4 and 3000 and the Tropicos, which were the top competitors before I played Rebel Galaxy.

You should definetly give Gothic a try.
There are community made texture and 16:9 mods which make the game look really good for its age.
Gothic I and II are definetly the best out of all Gothic, Risen and Arcania titles!

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines' soundtrack is simply amazing. Here's a sample:

There's a few more songs that aren't in that playlist presumably due to copyright reasons, Smaller God which is played on the beach being the first that comes to mind.
