There are some people who like to measure the value of their games in how long they are compared to how much they spent. Personally I'm not a fan of this, I would much rather pay for a short game that's engaging all the way through, than a long game that's just engaging most of the time. Of course, everything has its limits, but I feel like it's better for a game to be as long as it needs to be, than pad out its length with filler content. Case in point, Mafia 3 would be a lot better if they had skipped the whole "take over the city" part, and just had the story missions. That's not to say that games should be short, imagine if Pillars of Eternity had been a 4h game, that would not have worked with that kind of story.

But here are some giveaways for some games that are not super short. Do note that I am asking something of you if you're winning one of these, so read the descriptions.

Thanks for the nice giveaways. I only entered for the one I really wanted, and I'll be sure to play it right away if I actually win. Cheers! =)

i only play one game at a time so i would say is irrelevant, just longer time until i play the next game but if im having a good time then is whatever.

Bump! I always felt Rage got a lot of bad rep, and didn't deserve all of it.

I have a place in my heart for both longer and shorter games. It will often take me a few tries to get through a longer game so I enjoy completing them when I finally get there. It took me 4 separate installs to finally get through the original Witcher but I love coming back. It's like revisiting an old friend who hasn't changed and you immediately feel comfortable.

I generally buy games for their worlds or stories. It's rare for me to want something that's a purely gameplay-focused experience. (Obviously the optimal solution is to have story enhance the gameplay and vice versa, like in ICO.) So yeah, a good story, deftly told, with fewer "filler" puzzles or action scenes is preferable to me. But of course, when the story's really excellent you'll often want as much of it as possible. Pacing is what's important.

Yeah, I agree about pacing. And sometimes certain stories just need longer runtimes, but more often than not, it feels like games are a bit longer than they should be.
And while we're on the topic, it feels like far too many devs mistake tedious side activities with quiet time. Most stories need some quiet time, they can't just be non-stop "things are happening", but this quiet time should be used to let you get to know the characters and the world better, not just do tedious side activities. (I'm not against side activities, I just find that many recent games just handle them really poorly).
