Assassin's Creed 1. At first it was ok, but then the glitchy parkour with the really buggy control system with the repetitive missions and boring map design just made me rage at the game so much. Forced myself to finish it, but it was still one of (if not THE) worst experiences. Assassin's Creed 2 was just a major improvement.

Well, Altair jumped at completely the wrong directions sometimes. The camera was ok, but kind of flawed still. The parkour was way too slow. The story was very very mediocre. Desmonds story, while interesting, did nothing with what it was given. UPlay was involved. Windowed mode exists but it doesn't work, since the cursor isn't locked, which means you will click out very easily. Travelling in the empty countryside with nothing to do, it's only filled with guards and some buildings once in a while.
Don't get me wrong, it was fun for the first 4-5 hours, but after that the repetitiveness just started to come on.
Assassin's Creed 2 is so damn good though. After looking through some reviews, it seems that almost everyone recommends skipping AC I, and start with AC II.

Binding of Isaac. Got in on sale and knew it was popular but didn't expect it to be a dull flash game of the kind that was realeased on Newgrounds for free 10 years ago.

It isn't a bad thing that the people who made amazing games on newgrounds, especially edmond mcmillan who made that, and many other great games, are getting paid for their work now, there was just no way back then. He's always kept them damn cheap too.

That game is literally the limit of what you can do with flash. The game can't be upgraded anymore because they just can't get more into it without flash crashing. It still got free updates until after the new game Rebirth was released.

the only game i can think of is Aliens: Colonial Marines. i guess i choose my games wisely most of the time. ^^

EDIT: one addition - Deus Ex The Fall. that game was even worse than expected.

if older games are allowed: my favorite developer of all time - Bullfrog - released Gene Wars in 1997. and it was so much worse than everything they did before. still an ok game. but not something i expected from Bullfrog. so yeah, that was quite a disappointment.

I hate GTA IV.

Never played it on PC, which is probably all for the best as it seems to have more than it's fair share of technical issues.
But compared to the GTA3 series, it just felt stale, boring and it really got on my nerves really quickly that Niko all of a sudden goes all shouty and stuff in some missions because of "story" when there's no sign of, or explanation for such behavior elsewhere in the game, including most other missions. That, and the attempt at making the world appear more realistic falls flat on it's face.
Made several attempts, just can't get through more than a third of the game before thinking "yep, still garbage".

I wasn't a fan of it either physics are weird as hell. I want to like it, cause I do actually like Niko, but I just can't play it. Love every other game in the series, even the old 2D ones, and the DS one.

Never disliked a game tbh. I play as a means of blowing off steam and having fun. The moment I allow games to make me feel anything but joy is the day I stop gaming.

You were always lucky with your pickings, or stopped playing with them before they got annoying? Of course there's a line between disappointment, bad game and hated game, but what you wrote I play as a means of blowing off steam and having fun. feels quite idyllic to me - should be working like that, but at the end it can't be a perfect experience, so this is why ask you. Certain completitive games can be rage-inducing, but on the other hand I can not imagine how can one find fun in literally every single game. Not like I'm searching for hatred in you to turn you to the Dark Side, just making sure that you can't be that lucky to always pick good and enjoyable games :D

Well it depends really. Sometimes I do end up picking a game that does not hold my interest but I drop them before I feel anything but boredom. When it comes to competitive play, well it is a bit different. When I play co-op, pvp or general group play (was into hardcore raiding in WoW for a few years) I do not care so much about how others are playing. Rather than get annoyed at other players' performance (which at the end of the day is beyond control), I instead focus on my own gameplay and how I can become a better gamer.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist in life and I tend to set some really high standards for myself. I can't just be good; I have to be great. When it comes to competitive play, I expect myself to carry my group. Regardless of how poorly someone else does, I expect myself to play well enough so that I'll be able compensate for their shortcomings. So rather than get angry at a loss/death/whatever and blame someone else for it, I usually just get frustrated at myself and work towards to correcting the mistakes that I make in-game. When I used to play WoW, this would take the form of actively recording logs and video capture during raids and then reviewing the material as well as visiting class specific theorycrafting sites.

This, and this is going to sound a bit weird, is actually what I loved about playing WoW the most. Fuck-ups are temporary and while it may annoy me at the moment, I know that it just gives me an excuse to become even better. The pay-off comes when you are able to do stuff ingame that others will have a very difficult time replicating. That is where I get my fun out of multiplayer games and this is why I don't get mad. A loss is just a means to become better and a win merely demonstrates the results of all the effort that I put in.

That isn't to say I don't get annoyed or anything. Even with this attitude, there is a limit to how much shit you can take. The thing is, I know what my limits are and stick to them. This is why every so often I shift directions and try something new. The only reason why I came to this site and started to buy steam games is because I grew tired of raiding (there was some guild drama brewing and didn't want any part of it plus other crap) and this is a cycle that I've pretty much kept ever since I started gaming.

There is no point in wasting my free time doing something I despise. The world is filled with too much wonder good shit to waste my time getting mad at pixels :P.

"Even with this attitude, there is a limit to how much shit you can take." I know that point! :D sometimes when the team is so bad in LoL, I tend to play just for my fun. And the sad thing is, that I'm usually still miles better than then (I mostly play all random, all mid - ARAM fun-map thingy) - tanky mage from the squishiest, damage-dealing tanks, silly things like that. Sometimes I just laugh out loud, dodge every single skillshot 4 person throws at me, kill the 5th, then run back :D So yes, I got you - being good getting better, and noticing others playing well is quite a good little metagame :)

at the top of my list is Secrets of Raetikon. I loved the art style, so i was willing to forgive the bugginess, but the ending was like the devs giving the layer a big middle finger. the turning up your speakers to 200% and shouted F YOU just to make sure you got the point. it totally ruined the experience.

CoD MW3 - I still regret buying this game. Its clone of the clone. MuItiplayer has 20 options, but its always feels like DM on 2mx2m map. I deleted it after 3h, such waste of money. In CoD MW 1 atleast campain was enjoyable.
Farcry 3 - these rpg features just ruined game experience for me. This game tired and pissed off me realy quickly ;)
But still... worst kind of games are mmorpg`s!

Prototype was a major disappointment for me. All of the character animations looked like the developers took those from Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and just recycle them.

I have to say Painkiller. I played it a couple of times but it bores the hell out of me.
I played the demo and loved it but the game itself is boring as hell.
The story is really vague, I know it's mainly no thinking and just shooting.
Yet I enjoy Serious Sam a lot, I love the franchise.
I'm just glad I bought Painkiller: Black Edition instead of the complete pack.

Sadly I was looking so forward to the game Hunted: The Demon's Forge. It was supposed to be an amazing co-op fantasy adventure. I bought it straight away and sat down with my fiance (who also loves fantasy games, we play DnD nearly daily) and could not get over the complete lack of inventory, the loose controls, flighty camera and unexciting combat. We have tried a few different times to try the game again, hoping it gets better as you play, but the most I've seen is the character banter gets better.

Empire Earth 3. The first was really, really excellent, I spent my childhood playing it. The second was good enough, altough I didn't played it for long. But the third, I was really excited when I get it, but it was really, really a bad game. The worse: Empire Earth was about playing through 10+ eras, the third only had 3...
