Yea everything is too expensive these days. Food for sure, rent in most places is crazy too. I just got a letter saying my rent will be going up in 2 months, and a jury summons for many days spread through all of next month which will seriously put a dent in my income. My job also gave everyone a surprise vacation this whole week due to lack of orders. And I just had a minor surgery which I haven't got the bill for yet...I think I need a new job to afford all this stuff.

Fluffballs are a must, very heartwarming.
In tough times they are always a blessing.
I hope you will find an amazing friend for years to come :3
My advice: spay/neuter them as soon as you can because it will help you save A LOT of money (my big cat was always into fights so the vet bills every months were a bit salty)
In any case, I'm sure your decision will be purrfect ;3

They have to be an indoor cat as it takes myself 5 doors just to get to my apartment, i got a decent balcony they can be on.
I live in a place with a lot of companies and a hospital next to me, so a lot of cars, which also isn't very safe for them to be outside.
I know because my mom had two, one loved to pet me on the head with his paw, the other liked my foot massages, but ever since i moved and sometimes visit they shun away from me like i betrayed them.
I don't know if just one isn't sad for him/her, atm i am without a job so there is company now, but suppose i find one then i don't know, but another cat is twice the bills, and i might get my moms 2 cats eventually, and 4 is just too much for this cramped apartment, i would constantly be tripping over them.
Thank you.

thanks for all the giveaways over the past few years. your super easy puzzles were probably bot-proof but not me-proof and i like that :)

Thank you. :)
And not so much botproof, i liked it more to share good music, i can personally always find enjoyment in finding new old music that is nice, and hope others appreciated it too. And until people actually found the trick behind it, it made them listen.

budgets are bad but necessary. Cats are great and necessary. It is an easy choice. Have fun with the kitten.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thank you, i really hope that's going to be the case for me too. I think and hope it would drive oneself to kick your own butt to do certain things you normally wouldn't do, and that it could give you some of that companionship and feel less alone.
Best wishes to you too.

Do you think you'll post pictures of your kitten every now and then?
I always really appreciated your giveaways (and song recommendations!) but cat pictures are just as good :D
Pets can be nothing short of lifechanging, I wish you the best of times with your new pal

Can't you get one? How many you have now?
Yeah he/she certainly isn't shy, in the clip there was a bang the other two went under the tractor, not the white one.
But the one with the red/black face also has something, and it be nicer if they had a brother/sister, but that would be twice the cost for me, it's so hard.
If only my mom wouldn't send footage then it was so much easier to say oh i think about it still, or it can wait, but i knew she would and now you are in love with them offcourse.

I have one cat - she was rescued from a family that abused her and then left her behind when they moved away. It took me a very long time to get her to trust anyone again, and she very easily gets scared and stressed, which is why getting more cats isn't really an option for me. I've tried to introduce her to my friend's cats many times to see if she could get used to them, but unfortunately it never went well.
If possible it's probably best to get two, that way they can play together and keep each other company when you can't be at home (if they're not outdoor cats) - but it definitely depends on whether you think you can afford to keep two. Not just for food/litter etc. but especially vet costs
But yeah I totally understand you, it's almost impossible to say no when you have those little furballs staring at you, even through a photo - in fact it almost makes you want to go against your better judgement and just adopt all of them, lol
The calico (the one with a mix of black, white and orange colors) is very likely a female, apparently only one in three thousand calicos is a male! I really like them, they're often very sweet, though of course every cat has its own personality. I like black cats too, in fact if I could get another cat I'd most likely adopt a black one - it's usually harder for them to find owners, since some people think they're bad luck. In any case, you can't go wrong!

Pets get expensive quick.
Food and litter is one thing, but the bigger one is getting checked by a vet every year, and getting their shots every 2-3 years.
But there are cheap mobile vet clinics in some areas, where theyre training new staff, so you only have to pay the cost of the shot.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah but already found out food (haven't checked litter) is already cheaper then in a supermarket (and i don't have to bike 2km with it).
Companies here are buying up the vets so they are asking high prices which many can't afford, 1 government party wants to do something about it, but as usual they are alone in it.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeh, be wary of the veterinarian costs. If the pet gets randomly sick, the costs are freakishly high.
When my bunny was sick (very common illness) it was already like 200 euros for an appointment, 1 medication,1 painkiller and 1 force feed.
An operation easily costs a 1000.
So yeh, take those costs into account too. Sorry, I didn't mean to be a downer, but when it happened to me I was shocked. (luckily I could borrow money)

Check local farm supply stores as theyll likely know if there's ever a local mobile clinic.
In rural areas i've lived, they're fairly normal. But depending on your variables, it may be cheaper/easier to get to know a local vet.
Maybe you can even offer to do part time work as trade.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not sure if that's a thing here, our government actually wants to get rid of all our farmers (same as in canada) why they were striking.
Actually if we wanted to buy something from a farmer we had to go straight to them, only last week when i was in the city, i saw a farmers store (it was closed though).
Doesn't hurt to check in though, thanks.

Well cats sleep during the day and hunt at night. This is their normal rythm.
Living in a small appartment kinda collides with this.
Also my cat is extremely clingy and craves attention 24/7 - most likely because she was separated from her mother too early.
Comment has been collapsed.
Mostly indoor, though during warm summer nights she sometimes explores the inner yard outside my balcony, which she can jump down from and climb back onto with ease.
And yes I live on the bottom floor, but still have a cramped balcony... 50 cm above ground. Dumb arse building planner ๐
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah i see that with a building across from here, you have to climb a bit just to get to the door, don't understand such architecture.
I am glad mine is atleast how it should be. Not sure how i am gonna do the whole balcony thing, i experience a lot of bugs (think because of the trees in between).

Having a pet can sometimes feel like having to take care of a kid, I had to take one of my dogs to the vet today because his ear hurts and he couldn't sleep last night (nothing serious, it was just earwax and too much hair inside the ear), but they brighten your life.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well atleast lucky pets dont need midnight feedings or cry like crazy. :p But yeah it's just another living thing the same like a child, and so small, in your head when it's all new you might think oh how am i going to do this, i hope i am not screwing this up.
I had an ear infection once i can understand that can hurt like crazy.
Hope they would brighten my life.

A cat is a huge responsibility, and there's so many variables at play, how much time can you provide? will you be able to feed him properly during 20 years? If It gets sick will you be able to afford the treatment? Yes, cats are amazing, but they can also get chronic illness just like a person. Need several vaccines a year.
Maybe i'm being too negative here. If you get one, my advice is to get a female, less chance to have urinary infections, less agressive (most of the times). Just spayed her at the right time.
I hope you're sure of what you're doing. They're not an easy task, but when you get there, It's highly rewarding.
From a health perspective, It's just a matter of luck. 1 out of 3 cats will get Kidney Chronic Disease at some point.
Comment has been collapsed.
No, you are being realistic, and that's what i am trying to be about it too, why i was still in a thinking about it phase, and think i had weeks, but suddenly that got pushed forward.
Right now i am without a job, so much time, but you never know how it goes in the future, if only i knew.
Like if i knew i would move up housewise too, i would get him/her a playmate, but this (small) apartment was already a lottery ticket some would commit a murder for, so many in their thirties living with their parents or become homeless.
And big companies here are buying up the vets, and with that increasing their prices, which for many it becomes unaffordable and yes at the cost of a pet, many wouldn't be able to get their pet an expensive operation.
1 government party wants to do something about it, but they are alone in it.
Also my mother always told me that the female ones are feisty and agressive, and my mom has 2 brothers, and they are quiet, i think it differs if they go outside (chasing animals, defending themselves from other cats) or you keep them inside.

Seems like the text is cut off but you can still see the differences between them.
From the picture you add It, I bet the Calico is a female, most of time they are.
Do not rush things Lugum. It's a lifetime commitment. I don't believe in they have to click with you, every cat has It's own personality and It's up to you If you can deal with It. Every cat is a good cat.

Thanks, yeah but i only have 3 weeks to decide, else i have to wait longer. And that cat that my mom showed, that white one is to melt for. And yeah i told my mom the same thing, i felt it's a female too.
Yeah and especially when they are still very little kittens, it's like baby's they are still in a growing phase, and gives the ability to get used to you, which i think is easier when they are still so young, they depend on you and thus are more prone to accept you.
Not like when they are older and go, oh i hate you and you are a lousy boss (i hope). :p

Whatever you've got to do, in order to take care of yourself. I'm just happy you'll still be around.
I hope you're able to find yourself a nice kitty friend. My Nan has a cat, Mr. Arlo Boots, and he makes her really happy.

Take care m8 - don't worry about GAs. This is not a job that you need an excuse to not give something.
You just take care about yourself and enjoy the Kitty - it will be hard work but worth it :)
I have observed that there are amazing people on this forum so don't be shy to chat if you feel like you need it - family an friends are lifesavers
Take care & stay healthy <3

Thanks.
I know, but not like people gonna wonder where i went, or what happened, and it's also going to cut in my own fingers offcourse that i have to cut down on my own games (which for me always having and getting the games i wanted, is a big sacrifice, but willing to make). But if i am honest, i have enough really to last me a time and yeah and it will be worth it.
You take care and stay healthy too. <3

It is a lot, not my choice. They are all street cats that need to be cared for. Also 5 dogs, 1 three legged one, 2 blind ones from which one is deaf, so a real bitch to deal with. If people could neuter their animals or at least take care of their animals instead of throwing it away, I wouldn't have to live in what has basically become a shelter.
Comment has been collapsed.
Possible, people are way too impulsive. I remember all the discarded Dalmatians after the Disney movie prompted people to "pump and dump" the craze of the day.
Anyway, financially it's all doable but I can't take the credit as my wife is the one doing most of the caring. Last addition were 2 two week old kittens whoms eyes were still closed and needed to be fed every 4 hours. I think sacrificing sleep for weeks is perhaps more commendable than throwing some coins.

A pet is very nice to have. Hopefully you decide to take the plunge and get one!

Yeah it's a frightening thing really, prices used to go up and down, but lately it's just up, but one can be sad/mad or whatever about it, but i learned those are just useless emotions, maybe we should demonstrate more like in other countries, i hope one day we still get that revolution, but till that happens we gotta enjoy the little things in life, such as a kitty. :p
Thank you.

I feel your pain. The cost of food, housing and gas forced me to stop spending frivolously until things get better... but right now, I'm not holding my breath that it'll happen anytime soon. ๐
Enjoy the new addition to your family! It definitely makes the days much brighter. And keep posting those cool music vids! ๐

If I had extra money to spare, I'd throw a GA in homage to your amazing music puzzles. But for now, I will do my best to not become another cynic...

No more weekly music puzzles, i am on a tight budget, groceries are so expensive (and anything else) but what first started as a joke from my mom, i think in ways it might also be a way to get a bit over the whole germphobia thing (litterbox, their butt on stuff like the sofa) and giving me companionship.
And i was still in a thinking phase, but she send me a clip of possible kittens to pick from, and offcourse you gonna melt, and i think i might get one, she would also help financially to purchase one and get things setup.
But because of many in and outgoing transactions at the moment i don't have a clear picture yet, but i think most likely that means i have to sacrifice on other things, like games, most likely no more choice too when it ends. But i think it will be worth the sacrifice.
I am still staying here offcourse, so not going anywhere and i do still got some leftovers, but i have to try not to add much new stuff anymore.
