Here we go, I'll start.

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (2010) - This movie is a joke. At first it's interesting, then it's boring and then it's just funny/pathetic. And they put it in a "horror" genre. Words are not sufficient. Nosferatu is turning in his grave. 3/10

Gun-Kata
Equilibrium
Its dumb, from both movies you can tell the director holds to the very same cards, in equilibrium the totalitarian regime is cluttered by nazi symbols. In any case i really liked it, 80s dystopian with ultra stylized action. Plot aside, some small details fit within the movie, like the statistics based combat and the relation between Preston and Brandt
7/10

Ultraviolet
This movie starts with a giant pinball machine, giant steel balls fall from the sky, entering a building by destroying the windows and walls, and out of them a group of Ninjas emerge, It makes no sense, and thats what i got for 90mins. This movie would have 10 min if it wasn't for a major plot hole. Im sure they quickly noticed how bad it was, because the CGI and the acting isn't much better. one of the worst movies i've seen, but like the Room, its a gift that keeps on giving, the more you watch it, the worse it gets. I sort of like the idea of clothing changing color depending on mood, it has no practicality here, but in real life it would come in handy.

I really liked Equilibrium, I think ItΒ΄s a good example of what you can do on a low budget. The movie reminds me that game Syndicate somehow. I think that director could totally do a movie based on that game with a reduced budget and still find the way to do something "good".

Last movie I saw was Life of Pi. Some incredible special effects save what would otherwise be a somewhat boring movie.

Movie I saw before that was GANTZ:O. Basically an action game, with most of the time being spent on the boss battle. Decent animation and action, stupid characters and dialogue and no plot. Still, interesting enough that I watched it to the end. I guess it's to compensate for not actually playing games. :)

The Bay

A decent eco-horror movie. Mind what you drink even if it's a glass of water. ^^

Beware spoilers below. ;-)

Isopoda larvae grown to a giant size because of all the chicken poop that's laden with steroids and that is dumped into the bay contaminating the water supply that's taken from the bay to make drinking water.

Nature sure can be terifying indeed.

Yeah, Barry Levinson was a good director in the late 80s - 90s. In fact, this was the first his film in the last decade, which I watched with kinda interest.

I like mainstream horror movies but also niche ones like for example The Facility that I watched yesterday.

Volunteers for a drugs trial get some unforeseen drug side effects. Will they survive?

Annihilation
Loved it, for many reasons. Might have to create a list of movies that are a representation of something else. And another for trippy movies to watch with the flu

Ah, glad I saw this thread.

Watched this film last night (after reading your recommendation and Niiro's). There are very few films that make me want to re-watch them immediately - this was one of them (and I did). Definitely one of the better films I've seen recently, and one I may have passed over had I not read your recommendation. So, thank you. :D

Watched it 3 days ago. For me, this movie is much better than the booooooring trilogy with impersonal characters (nonames in fact) that I stopped reading in the middle of the second book. And a book, by the way, I decided to read after watching trailer))))
8/10 for me, maybe just shy of 9/10 just below "Arrival"

It was exceptionally well made, and the story spoke to me on such a deep level I had to watch it a second time.

Netflix recommended me this after watching "28 Weeks Later" so reading your comment here I was sure it was sarcasm :D

Glad I read up and saw other people talking about it. Looking at other reviews too, it might actually be worth watching. Added it to my list - at least it can't be any worse than "28 Weeks Later"!

Tomb Raider

What a great movie adaptation! Loved it. The transition from the game to the big screen was done splendidly and the story was finely put together to reflect the fact that this was a movie and not a game. I especially liked Himiko's story adaptation and I don't care if they got inspiration from Uncharted or not. It worked really well. All in all, it was one of the best adaptations in a long time. I'm glad I saw it. Looking forward for the sequel.

Fun fact, if you didn't already know. When he yelled out "I'M MARY POPPIN'S Y'ALL", that was not a scripted line. Rooker just yelled it out and they liked it so much it stayed in the movie.

Just saw Black Panther.
DAMN, that was a good movie. Not as good as Dr Strange and Thor Ragnarok, but up there with them.

One thing, though. That guy with the tribal plate in his mouth, those ALWAYS screw the HELL out of me.

Now I have GOT to see Infinity War.

I really liked Black Panther for a fact that Black Panther didn't kill the "bad guy", but did what he had to do to protect the greater good. Hard decisions always result in better movies :3

Allied
A WW2 "spy romance" I found curiously unengaging, mainly due to it's failure to connect with the realities of the war in a meaningful way - or in any way, actually, except as a colorful backdrop or an excuse for some pretty silly escapades.

This was worth the watch, killing worthless nazis never grows old and a part of the plot reminded me of The Dirty Dozen: killing a large number of high ranking nazis.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

I'm not much of a movie person, TV shows are my thing. Only time I ever care about movies is when a new movie from one of my favorite franchises comes out. My favorite franchises being: Resident Evil, Underworld, Saw and Pirates Of The Caribbean.

Spoiler Alert:

This is really a chilling horror movie and I'm not kidding because I have seen a documentary and news\media reports that in Brazil and other South American countries about people living in the poorest areas of those countries who just disappear because of ruthless organ traders harvesting their organs.

Perfetti sconosciuti. Like it very much. This is a chamber movie that looks like a theatrical play with great live dialogues and actors. It's similar to Carnage or Igra v pravdu / Game of Truth wich were based on theatricals.

Late? Pacino's not dead, though he hasn't had a hit in quite some time. Hopefully next year will be a good year for him: he plays Jimmy Hoffa in Martin Scorsese's The Irishman, which is currently in post-production.

Jerry Orbach, Pacino's costar in Chinese Coffee, died back in 2004.

Truth

The first half is a drag with all the details necessary to retell the story, which won't bother too many today. The second half is much better (and more relevant), with a brilliant Cate Blanchett representing the struggles of journalism in our era.
