Here we go, I'll start.

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (2010) - This movie is a joke. At first it's interesting, then it's boring and then it's just funny/pathetic. And they put it in a "horror" genre. Words are not sufficient. Nosferatu is turning in his grave. 3/10

It's not a masterpiece, but it isn't easy to figure out straight away.

Finally saw Doctor Strange. Found it to be the weakest MCU movie so far.
Cool special effects when the magic starts flying, but other than that It felt kind of hollow. Kind of basic hero origin story, and Dormammu doesn't really come off as the threat he should be.

The last movie I saw is already a few months back there so I ain't entirely sure anymore which one it was..
It was probably one of the Bourne-Triology :P I always liked these movies and I already seem them quite a few times.

Blade Runner (1982), my friends didn't like it because it was too long. But i think it was really amazing, to think it's done without digital effects is mind blowing. I'm really curious about the different versions, i read there are many and i'm intrigued to see more. The imagination and visual quality, acting its just amazing.

If you saw the final directors cut, I wouldn't do that. You won't be happy.

Freaks (1932)
Great short movie, and most of the running time is displaying the union between circus "freaks" in a world where they are humiliated in/off work.
there were 30 min of it removed by MGM, that might have went to exploitation territory, probably to sell it at an audience that went to see it with expectations of being shocked.
for what it's worth, i'm inclined to agree with it being cut, even if for different reasons, being this from the 30s and all. The ending is morally incorrect as it is.
That's probably the only reason, i don't really see it has a classic, is that at certain point the people we are supposed to care about, can just as quickly turn villains themselves
note if you want to watch this:

  • MGM still owns it, so it's not public domain
  • You need subs, its a early 30s movie, between the transition from silent to talkies.
  • Many of the actors where circus performers, some with speech impediments, or with thick accents
  • There is no reason for this movie to still be classified as horror, unless instead it being made to elicit fear, the performers themselves are the body of horror, which is ridiculous nowadays.

It's a remarkable and very unusual movie. The actors were actual sideshow 'freaks' - many felt that this was in poor taste and exploitative. Browning himself was actually that kid who ran away and joined the circus, at age 16. He spent many years working in sideshows and circuses, so he was actually coming from a place of real experience and sympathy. He had a point to make, but it's debatable if he actually succeeded since audiences generally hated the movie and it was banned in many countries. It's now regarded at brilliant, and I agree - but sadly, it ruined Browning's career.

oddity n2
Megiddo: The Omega Code 2
what a disaster. but i was entertained, it's silly in many ways, but its more of a action movie that so happens to reflect biblical stories (confusingly so). Its strange that they would fund this.i feel christians ( referring just to the people who fund and watch these movies) prefer to preach, a tap on the back, maybe paint themselves as victims.
where to start? near apocalyptic future, world is separated by 10 zones and every stereotype exists within each belonging zone, yet they all have the same religion/God.
the dialogue is not exactly Neel breenish insubstantial, but a really simple way of representing groups of people.
There is a nod to Cain and Abel, that makes no sense in the context of this story
And finally, it's incredibly literal when it comes to the bible, there is no interpretation of the text
It was kinda funny... 2/10

Body Melt
Not sure why the IMDB score is so low. Credit to where it due, it did take all its content from Peter Jackson, Croonenberg, Tobe hooper.
But that doesn't make it any less spectacular, and in a way i've never seen anything like it. Its an acid trip from beginning to end, and the editing and the soundtrack work perfectly. I think because however made this is a musician, somewhere between synth and whatever Teenage Arcade riot suposed to be.

The Cloverfield Paradox
Not that bad as a science fiction movie. Terrible as a Cloverfield movie. It feels like they forced in the Cloverfield parts. If they kept the original title, The God Particle, and left out the Cloverfield parts, it would have been a much better sci-fi movie.

All in all, not a bad movie. 7/10

Song to Song (2017) I'm speechless how beautiful this movie was. I was so invested in the story and in the characters as well. Highly recommended. Ofc you have to be in a mood for such a movie, so you have your right to say that this movie is boring, garbage etc.

Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors - Fascinating, bizarre, indescribable movie by Tarkovsky's best friend, Sergei Parajanov.

Wilson - Wartime biopic of the 28th U.S. President that's not always historically accurate, but is nonetheless very well written, has an excellent central performance and includes some interesting archival footage circa WW1.

That Wilson movie looks interesting. The last WWI I have recently seen is The Lost Battalion. A very good movie about the battle in the Argonne forest.
