Here we go, I'll start.

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (2010) - This movie is a joke. At first it's interesting, then it's boring and then it's just funny/pathetic. And they put it in a "horror" genre. Words are not sufficient. Nosferatu is turning in his grave. 3/10

Europa Report Excellent return to classic sci-fi storytelling, like the kind found in Arthur C. Clarke's (2001 author) work rather than Star Wars(not to say the original trilogy isn't awesome, it is, just that it's space opera and this is more hard sci-fi). Highly recommended.

I've never seen one from beginning to end, so First time going through Steven Seagal movies

Absolution (2015) - SKIP
well...this really had to be made. Nothing happens, no one cares, Seagal is half asleep
I will give it 90min/of your life

Half Past Dead (2002) - WATCH
There is dumb, and then there´s Half Past Dead. Its such a sweet collection of failed attempts at being cool for the kids. Misses some chances at being preachy, which Seagal used to love doing. And apparently even considering its premise, it seems to be absent from this movie.
Seagal was arrested, moved to the newly reopened Alcatraz as Death Row is coming back.
best Soundtrack ever https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCc6OekxfbE
Recommended "So bad it's good" flick

Above the Law(1988) - EH...
cheesy intro, lame ending. Rest is predictable, played out cop movie.
Seagal does a terrible italo-American
4/10
Marked for death(1990) - WATCH
retired DEA agent, looking for drug dealers. Just so happened they where Jamaican.

l knew the only justice l could get would be that that l made for myself, not always by law.
Father... l just killed a woman. l've lied, l've slept with informants,l've taken drugs, l've falsified evidence.
l did whatever l had to do to get the bad guys. And then l realised somethin'.
That l had become what l most despise.

I clapped, wiser words have never been spoken.

A guilty pleasure :)
I've found that Segal movies are only as good as their villains, which is why Out For Justice is my favorite for William Forsythe's batshit crazy performance.

That's a terrific movie. Anthony Mann is always a good value. Seen The Fall of the Roman Empire? Gladiatior 'borrows" pretty heavily from it.

Yes, I liked El Cid a lot, great actors and settings and with some historical facts. I have seen The Fall of the Roman Empire and it's a great movie I have in my movie collection containing 6K+ movies not counting series and documentaries. You wouldn't believe the amount of great and respected male and female actors feature in The Fall of the Roman Empire but then again Anthony Mann really knew what he did and what he wanted and he was rock solid in what he did.

My next historical based movie I'll watch is The 300 Spartans.

I thought I had a lot of movies hoarded up, but you've got me beat by a considerable margin! I've heard good things about The 300 Spartans, but not seen it yet. Hope you enjoy it :)

On the other side that discrepancy could mean that you're younger than me.. ;-)

I use Ant Movie Catalog so I don't get lost in them. Thank you and I rarely am disappointed with classic movies especially this kind of movie knowing that I'm a retired soldier. :-)

Amityville the awakening
Dimension did a great job hiding it. How many years ago was the first trailer?
the series always fluctuates between carbon copying and weird new material. Well, after the previous 2 awful installments, we are yet again back to basic bland remakes influenced by the dfeo murders. The difference is, the soon to be killer is in a vegetative state. But they didn't quite know what to do with it. As a horror fan i could have use less of Bella Thorne's body
3/10
Leatherface
It ain't bad it ain't good, a tad forgettable, and not exactly horror. In some ways it's a remake, but it goes back before the events of texas chainsaw. New villains are introduced, Cant say they didnt try. Its just meh...

Kingdom of Heaven

What can I say? It's directed by Ridley Scott and has actors like Liam Neeson, Orlando Bloom and Eva Green (Her mother is a great French actress: Marlène Jobert). It's a very good movie! 👍

Eva Green is one of the victims of Harvey Weinstein...

Took me a while but I finally made it through 1900. Robert De Niro and Gérard Depardieu are so young here, though I think De Niro thought he was still in Mean Streets. It was an amazing journey through pre-war Italy and definitely worth the time.

Miracle On 34th Street (1994) - I never knew this movie existed until a few days ago. I recently watched the original from 1947, like I do every year, because it is a great movie, and then I was trying to find new christmas movies that I have not seen, and I saw recommendations for the 1994 version with many people saying they think it is better than the original.

After watching this movie, I feel like it was a very poor effort at a cash grab. It seems like they were not allowed to remake the original movie and had to change enough plot points to make it different, so everything that happens in the movie is slightly changed in some way. These changes feel forced and do not make sense. Both the script and acting are not as good as the original and often cringy. Also, I did not like the music. It seems like they didn't want to pay for the classics so they used modern inferior remakes, just like the rest of the move.

La femme Nikita

So it's a movie from Luc Besson who also made Le Grand Blue.

With Anne Parillaud at her best!

I gave up on Steven Seagal and am now watching Cannon Films

Distributed:
Popsy Pop (1971)
venezuelan film, with 3 decent Stars, at the beginning and at the end of their careers. Its bland, heavily dubbed, and cheap. But not terrible, that would be watchable
4/10
La dama rossa uccide sette volte (1972)
OK giallo. Great intro, colorful, gothic atmosphere but absolute nonsense.Later twists, come out of nowhere.
5/10
Produced:
Guess What We Learned in School Today?
i'm skipping sex comedies, i opened an exception for John G. Avildsen. This man was always ten years behind the times, this product is dated and pointless even for 70s standards
1/10
Joe (1970)
Another movie from John G. Avildsen. could have been better, a bit dated, a bit tasteless, but overall good material
an unlikely friendship between an executive and a lower class lunatic, as everything to go wrong.
a poisonous friendship, the typical situation killer/hero meeting their first admirer, also pointed out to the gap between the two, economically, socially.,,
those differences make Joe the insane character he is, in truth there is no objectivity to his views. He just feels a second hand citizen
and man do I love Joe, Peter boyle is absolutely on point. He is bitter, he rambles for hours. he could change subject every 5 min and still remain at the same level of aggressiveness, towards anyone about racial matters, political views, sexual orientation.
Crumbles apart in the last 20 min, an inaccurate perception of drug addicts, a lot of hippie talk. and a change in tone to parody.
The ending is alright, Joe takes so much space but in reality he doesn't even need to be a real person, all he does is inflate Compton´s ego. It's good that by the end, it's all about compton.

Rambo
Nothing more I could have asked for 😄
Jarhead
Jake Gyllenhaal is mad, and Jamie Foxx is pretty slick as well. The rest is decent.
Full Metal Jacket
The setting change midway through was good.
Justice League

likeys:

  • Wonder Woman
  • Aquaman
  • Some good action sequences
  • Batman being groovy at the beginning

no likeys:

  • Flash (not as bad as I thought he would be, but still cringe)
  • Superman's CGI
  • Some scenes felt cut way too short

Brüno
Better than Borat
Mudbound
Solid. Sort of plods about without much direction for a bit.
Baby Driver
I felt like I was watching a movie.
American Made
Never becomes anything special. Good watch.

Bladerunner 2049.

As a sequel, it can stand all alone by itself as well. Expanding and continuing the world building, telling it's own tale instead of re-hashing the previous plot, just enough callbacks to give you a glimpse of what came before,
If you like the slower, more dramatic approach to sci-fi, this is certainly one to watch.

Get Out
Quirky and decent. The "hold up cop ur racist back off i am empowering my blackman" bit was forced and cringe, though.
Jungle
Based on a true story, and I guess that's part of why the film didn't really tackle any new or interesting ideas. Best part for sure was the "oh no this damn parasite in my forehead is giving me a headache, time to do surgery" scene. Hey, it's a book too.

Braveheart and Arrival.
Both legendary movies in their own way.

I don't even know how I didn't come across Braveheart until someone told me about it. I love like war and biography movies and this shed me to tears.

Arrival on the other end... such a cool approach to the topic that nearly all of us are interested in and curious about. And it had similarities to movies like Inception and Interstellar. They're both mind blowing.
