So what was the name of the last game you ever pirated and Why?
I ressntly had to pirate a copy for Mass Effect 3. I bought a key, activated it in Origin, next day the game was gone! Origin support was just painful. They kept me bouncing back and forth from EA help to Accounts Help! After a month I just gave up!

Do you pirate games?

View Results
Yes, I pirate them regularly.
Yes, I can't afford to always buy original copies so sometimes I pirate.
I only do it after I have paid for the game at least once or if it is abandon ware
No, I never pirate a game no matter what!
Does Assassin's Creed IV count?

I will neither admit nor deny guilt.
That being said, with great, but somewhat older, games being so cheap, especially when on sale, I find it hard to justify piracy. Can't afford Arkham Knight? Arkham Asylum is less than half the price, even when it's not on sale. Still too much? wait for a sale, or better yet, a bundle. Can't afford Tom Clancy's The Division? Tom Clancy's recent Humble Bundle gives you a lot to play with. Can't afford XCOM2? Get XCOM Enemy Unknown, Civilization III, and Pirates for a buck - that ought to keep you entertained for weeks (months if you got the BTA)

I mean, if I'd bought the Tom Clancy Humble Bundle (fuck UPlay) and played every game in that bundle, I'd be so done with the series I wouldn't even start The Division. I've got a backlog of great games, to the point that I'm spoiled for choice and am more likely to get bored with a series than to actually finish it. Hell, I've got some iconic series that I haven't even started yet, but have been meaning to for a while.

No excuse anymore.

I think The Division is a bad example, because it's not actually like any of the other Clancy games (I got some GRAW vibes from it when I played the beta, but GRAW doesn't exist on PC nope nope nope and it shaped up to be more like a MMO gameplay wise) but otherwise I agree. With so much franchise spam and cheap ways to get legitimately great games you don't need to pirate modern games.

Last one I pirated was Fallout 4 mainly to try out if I can run it and I was surprised that I could and it felt rather smooth even through I couldn't keep 30 fps all the time. Played it for a few hours but that was all. Before that the last thing I pirated was Skyrim played it for probably over a thousand hours and then finally decided to buy it but haven't played since then. Other than that I haven't pirated any games for about 3-4 years

Fallout New Vegas or Skyrim, can't remember which. I know i got skyrim to test it out on my old laptop (i used to play oblivion and fallout 3 pirated before these). So i did all that mumbo jumbo and ended up buying the games a few months later when i got myself a gaming desktop, skyrim had to be played on lowest settings and even then i had stability issues on my laptop.

I don't remember. I used to pirate games, but around the time bundles started to come out I wound up having too many games to play, so I stopped pirating. That said, I do occasionally hunt down some abandonware or ancient game I don't own on Steam but have a legit copy of that I want to revisit, sometimes on the less reputable parts of the internet if it hasn't migrated to Steam/GoG. Now that I have steady income, pirating is something that I only resort to if the game is unobtainable otherwise.

I'm with you on abandonware. If it's impossible to obtain a game legitimately, then, in my opinion, all bets are off

I think the last game I pirated was Bit Trip runner 2 or whatever the hell it's called but I bought it later.
I used to pirate everything but then I stopped and now I buy all my games. ... except for old stuff that I emulate sometimes, I can't be asked to spend loads of money on that

I haven't pirated a game ever since I created an account on steam in... 2012, I think. The last game I acquired illegally was (vanilla) Skyrim, but I bought the Legendary Edition some time ago (2 years, maybe more) on Steam just because. Because I was feeling guilty, I guess. And it was on sale. I haven't installed the Legendary edition yet but I hope that my saved files from the pirated game will work just fine with the Steam version. I don't think I could start off from scratch, not after putting something like 50 hours into a game. No sir/ma'am.

I mostly buy game bundles and heavily discounted games so there's no need to pirate them anymore. Of course, I wouldn't mind downloading a newer game to test it and see if I like it before making a purchase.

But I don't think I will ever spend big bucks on a game again.. I bought Diablo 3 at release and it cost me almost $80, it was disappointing and I vowed to never buy another game at full price.

I think it was the persona 3 ps2 version. Since the ps2 version of the game isn't sold here any more and I don't own a psp. And I really wanted to play it before playing persona 4. (I got interested after playing the persona 4 arena game )

So this post....you're complaining about support after you pirated a key?
Basically you pirated....instead of paying them for the key and then expect special service...
You're essentially trying to get a free game and then complain support won't help you when they rightfully disable the key.

Maybe I'm missing something here.....but come on.

If you take the risk, accept the consequences. I know I do if I choose to do something less than legal.

In related news..I want to pirate you, can you come work for me for free? Hurry up, I expect service here. Mow my lawn already ;)

I think you misunderstood OP. OP bought a key for ME3 (probably from some shady reseller as it got deleted from his Origin account). Anyway whatever the case was story is after it got deleted from his account he tried to contact Support, Support didn't help him or give him information just kept bouncing him so he gave up and pirated the game instead. If it was morally right thing to do is totally different story ofc ;)

Aaahhh, I totally did not realize it could/should be interpreted that way. In that case I definitely misunderstood.

After re-reading the post I see it was obviously a mistake on my part cause I failed at reading.

My apologies to the OP :)

The Witcher 3. Just to try the first 1-2 hours. The optimization dissapointed me :/
Still, I will purchase it at some point in the future.

Does DLC count? With Dawnguard Steam gave it to me (along with everyone for free, remember that?) then I may have logged onto my friends account to get Dragonborn and Hearthfire, downside being I forgot about it and accidentally let it download all of his "sexy armor" mods...
