Watchmen. It was one of the rare examples of a movie actually following the source material. The only difference between the comic and the movie was the flavor of the ending, but it effectively meant the same thing so I wasn't upset by it.
It doesn't have the worst score now, but when it first came out most people couldn't follow the rather complex plot, so I think it's slowly ticked up due to the cult following.

I love Watchmen (best intro sequence ever btw), but like you said, it's not that poorly rated right now.

I just remember when it first came out most of the reviews were shitty and anyone I talked to who saw it said they hated it. I got around to watching it a few years later and loved it. To be fair though I think if I hadn't read the comic it would have been a lot harder to swallow, but my girlfriend loved it too and she never read it so idk.

I give it all the credit for kicking the light saber action up a hundred notches from the originals, but then...Jar Jar Binks. Sigh.

Nobody's said Birdemic yet?! The coat hangers alone make it worth mentioning!

actually there is no movie that I give it a 7 and critics give it less than 5. but I really liked "Requiem for a Dream" way more than it's meta-score. this movie had an impact on my life and changed me. I expected a better score for such an unique movie

it is a great movie, yes. i love basically everything Aronofsky did. The Fountain is one of the best movies ever made in my opinion. and Requiem for a Dream is probably the most emotional drug movie i ever saw.

Yup, dunno why, maybe few people like Brooks comedy hehe

Thanks for the suggestion, I wasn't aware of that movie, gonna watch it soon!
EDIT: Just watched it. Although I still think that the score is justified, in spite of the bad, unnatural directing and acting, there was something (even slightly) sympathetic about that movie.

That movie is a trainwreck but a fascinating and entertaining trainwreck

So much sweet destruction ಥ‿ಥ

Huh? I only knew on from 2005: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407304/. You don't have the sweet destruction in 1953. :(
Comment has been collapsed.
The 1953 one has some impressive destruction and special effects. Were it not for a few smaller reasons (like how people talk), one could easily mistake it for a movie made in the 80's.
With the 2005 ones, you get this one, by the Asylum which is a mockbuster. They simply tried to cash in on a big movie getting released, and tried to trick a few people into seeing their version instead of the Spielberg one. And this one, which tried to stick very close to the book, but did not make nearly enough changes to work as a movie.
The Asylum is one of those well known producers of garbage movies. They also made "classics" such as Snakes on a Train, Transmorphers and Alien vs Hunter.

Godzilla (1998) is actually a decent film, if you don't think of it as a Godzilla movie. It's very exciting, but people's disappointment is that they wanted what we got in 2014 back in 1998.

i thought it was average at best. there is more valid criticism than just that it's not a true godzilla movie. i really didn't like it too much.

To mention a few:
Helldriver
Stacy: Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies
Zombie Hunter Rika
Zombie Self-Defence Force
Attack Girl's Swimteam vs the Undead
Samurai Princess
Gothic & Lolita Psycho
Big Tits Zombie
Robogeisha
And that's just a few from my Japanese splatter section of my movie collection, got a ton of other movies that probably are as low ranked on imdb as those from all kinds of genres/sub-genres, but I'd just end up writing a huge wall of text, so these few will do!
I have no idea why these are so low ranked though.. I mean, they're even lower ranked than Boogiepop and others that I bought on a whim and ended up as one of the 10 worst movies I've ever seen. Possibly because they're so gory? Ah well, who cares! ^^

+1 for Japanese Trash movies in general. The oddball comedy that features heavily in those makes them much more entertaining than most other trash movies. To also add to that list I'd add:
Meatball Machine
The Machine Girl
Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl
Zombie Ass
Tokyo Gore Police
And a honorable mention for:
Fist of Jesus. Which misses the list only on the account of being Spanish instead of Japanese.

Hell yeah! I'm basically in love with everything John Carpenter touches anyway. And I always liked the idea of it basically being a better DOOM movie in spirit than that actual Doom movie that came out.
Have you seen Carpenter's 'Vampires'? It's not all that similar in tone, but it's another under appreciated gem from that era

Vampires is one of my favorite vampire films, mostly because it's a plain old vampire story unlike those awful Twilight films. Plus James Woods is a great actor.
I never considered Ghosts of Mars as being like Doom but you're right, it is better retelling of the story. John Carpenter is an awesome filmmaker, with The Thing in my top five movies of all time.

yeah, Vampires was pretty good. i couldn't even say what exactly is special about the movie. hard to describe. but it has that Carpenter feel to it.

I loved this movie back in the day! I had such a crush on 'Tank Girl' back in high school...

For the amount of hate I hear about it I thought it would have a lower score.

The director's cut fixes up a lot of the issues. The original theartical cut remains pretty awful.
Comment has been collapsed.
Been a while since I've seen it, but as far as I remember, that is still in. However, the directors cut adds more small jokes, and that actually works better to balance things out and to make the most ridiculous stuff seem less ridiculous.

oh yes, it was. i re-watched it like one or two years ago. it was as bad as i remembered. if not worse. ^^

Stallone's Oscar remake.
Blues Brothers 2000 (I actually like it more than the original movie…)
The 2006 DOA movie: so incredibly cheesy, it is great.
The Adventures of Ford Fairlane (granted, only with local dub, as they essentially rewrote half the script).
Police Academy 3. I like the others as well (except 7), but the first 3 are the ones I can watch most any times.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2
This has been looked on much more kindly as the years have passed, especially for how it subversively breaks the typical slasher narrative of a woman as the main person in distress.

By poorly rated I mean like a 5.5 or below on IMDB or less than 50% on the Rotten Tomato Meter for both fans and critics (some films critics love that audiences hate, and vice versa but if it's hated by both groups, then it must really, really suck).
I don't care what y'all say, I LIKE Master of Disguise (1% Critics/31% Audience). It's stupid and I find it funny regardless.
