I would recommend The Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451, both written by Ray Bradbury.

I recommend you The Witcher series and something from Forgotten Realm. I've really enjoyed books written by R.A. Salvatore. Especially those with Drizzt.
Btw, thanks for the giveaway :)

Salvatore's books are defined by naivety; also I can't stomach "good drows" anymore. They certainly are good for killing time, but be warned, they're mostly cheesy even for D&D settings standards. Not saying that I didn't enjoy reading them ANY bit...

For something completely different, check out this one.
I finished it just after Christmas, incredibly interesting.

Angelmaker - Nick Harkaway

Yep, good thing you refrain from taking responsibility as translations tend to be horrible. In my book (hurr) books oughta be read in the original language. But I agree; I should have recommended the Witcher Saga also, it's very good. Good point.

Depends what you are looking for, I enjoy many things so here are my recommendation (that I read and own).
-Discworld universe, my personal favorite is Rincewind and Guards series, you should google for book guide since the author didn't write in chronological order or one story at a time.
-His Dark Materials. There are some quirks you need to get used, like author telling what will happend before it happends, specialy in the beginnings of book 1.
If you want something different the maybe The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls, interesting read and very interesting book desing (haven't seen one like it ever).

Oh forgot to mention Mistborn, very interesting magic system.

I recently started reading The Hunger Games after seeing the movie. I have to say that i enjoy the book much more then the movie.

Malcolm Gladwell books such as The Tipping Point, Blink, and What the Dog Saw.
Interesting stuff.

I like the Star Wars Republic Commando series, but they probably won't make much sense unless you have played the game.

This book is more for teens, but the Skulduggery Pleasant series is good. Your niece might like them.

Definately check out The Lies of Locke Lamora. Great book.

One that nobody said: Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson.
It's like reading 8 books at the same time.

And I recommend staying the hell away from time wasting sensationalist potboiler trash like Dan Fucking Brown, but to each their own, eh? :)

I've been mindbogglingly bored for the last couple months or so. I haven't had much drive to play games, and I've read every book, manga, and comic that I own.
Whenever I go shopping for new books, I tend to ask various other customers what they like so I can get an idea of what new books/series to try since, in my opinion, that's one of the best ways to expand your library. Sometimes I'll come across a movie that I enjoy and look to see if it was based on a book. A book I ordered a couple days ago, for example, is one that I looked into simply because my niece showed me a cartoon that was based from it that I very much enjoyed.
So here I am peeps, tell me, what's something I should read? I typically stay in the Fantasy Genre, but I do enjoy straying into Science Fiction and Mystery from time to time.
EDIT:
If it's not too much trouble, could I also get some recommendations for some good young readers books? My niece loves reading but I'm afraid I have very little age appropriate material.
