I've been mindbogglingly bored for the last couple months or so. I haven't had much drive to play games, and I've read every book, manga, and comic that I own.

Whenever I go shopping for new books, I tend to ask various other customers what they like so I can get an idea of what new books/series to try since, in my opinion, that's one of the best ways to expand your library. Sometimes I'll come across a movie that I enjoy and look to see if it was based on a book. A book I ordered a couple days ago, for example, is one that I looked into simply because my niece showed me a cartoon that was based from it that I very much enjoyed.

So here I am peeps, tell me, what's something I should read? I typically stay in the Fantasy Genre, but I do enjoy straying into Science Fiction and Mystery from time to time.

EDIT:

If it's not too much trouble, could I also get some recommendations for some good young readers books? My niece loves reading but I'm afraid I have very little age appropriate material.

Dinocalypse Now. It's a first of a trilogy that's not out yet, though. Style is pulp (fantasy/sf action).

I'm currently reading another book in the series, Khan of Mars, but it won't be out for quite a few months. So far it's even more enjoyable. (I was on the Kickstarter, that's why I have access to it.)

I haven't read Zelazny's Amber Chronicles in a while. That's something I can always re-read.

The A Song of Ice and Fire books, not really Science Fiction, but they are better than the TV serie, trust me. And the serie is already good.

I second this, it's a great book and very witty. It's much more sophisticated than the TV adaptations.

What about some cyberpunk. William Gibson - Sprawl trilogy (Neuromancer) or some of his short stories like "Burning Chrome" (invented term "cyberspace").

in fantasy i would recommend Shannara Series and Weis-Hickman Dragonlance Series as well. in sci-fi i liked a lot The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham. you probably already read Neuromancer. of course Lovecraft and Poe are necessary too, as other suggested. if you like listening to music while reading fantasy, let me recommend you The Piper at the Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd (Syd Barret leading the lineup).

"Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card, it's a great Sci-Fi book to read. Also you MUST read "Cryptonomicon" by Neal Steaphenson, another MUST BE is the Earthsea saga written by Ursula K. LeGuin composed by three books ("A wizard from Earthsea", "Tombs of Atuan" and "The Farthest shore"), there are two more books, but the original saga are these three. In the same genere you can find "The Saga of the Confines" by the argentinian writer Liliana Bodoc, a collection of three great fantasy novels.
Terry Patchett, Neil Gaiman, Philip Dick, William Gibson, Aldous Huxley there are just a few of the great writers that you must read.

Enjoy!

Among other interesting topics, that book is about a belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

That's easily one of the best storylines of the last 6000 years.
