I truly do enjoy the Civ Series, the genre has always interested me. To be honest, I have never bought a game for myself, they were all gifts from siblings and close friends. I have played much of the civilization series, however not on steam, but from the CD Installation it came with ages ago. I don't really mind if you do not choose me, but it would be nice to have Civ 5. Have a good day!

I want this game because... It looks very fun, but I haven't played so many strategy games. I would love to try it out though:D
I played Total war at a friends house and I liked it alot, but I can't really afford the game at the moment due to I need the cash for something else ^_^
And then I saw this thread and thought: Why not give it a try?
Thx for the chance

Well, I love old Civilization games, Awesome. Hundred of hours played in them (Specially Call to Power and Civilization 2 for PSX and also Civ4). I love that franchise in multiplayer. But right now, I don't have money to buy and test Civ5. I didn't even play it yet and its almost 2 years after release :(
Thanks for the opportunity.

Although I most definitely would play and enjoy Civilization V since Strategy games are my genre of choice, I feel however that someone else with prior experience to the franchise might get more out of it right now. But, I won't pass up an opportunity to snag a copy of this to play and enjoy, if nobody else who really want's it writes something acceptable by Monukai's request.
The reason why I'm posting a reply here is because I very strongly agree with how Monukai wishes to distribute a giveaway. One of if not "the" biggest flaw of Steamgifts is how almost anyone could just enter a giveaway for a chance to win. Obviously this method is fine for most and is played much like a State lottery. Someone will win.
I personally feel that giveaways could be more rewarding or meaningful to those who would "actually play it and enjoy it" rather than the mentality of most entering giveaways just to spend points and hope to win just isn't the same. Most entry's to a giveaway are just that. A place to burn points that otherwise would be a waist as points are capped. I would love to see more giveaways requesting people to explain why they feel they deserve it. This way more giveaways would potentially mean more to both parties.

Although it is taking a fair amount of time to read through what people have written and subsequently looking at their profiles, I'm not regretting it (so far). In fact, based on the experience so far, if I ever get another copy of something nice that I have no reason to giveaway in a group or directly to a friend, I'll probably do this again.

I loved (and still like) to play Civ II. It must be one of the best strategy games I've ever experienced (I also liked Age Of Empires Gold, but thats real time so I don't think it is in same category). I still have the original box with instructions and help and well, I would like to see what they added, changed and updated in newer versions. I played a few, but I don't own any of them (if you don't belive me that I own those games because I don't have them on Steam I can get you a picture). If you choose me I will be happy, but I guess there are other people that deserve it more. Thanks anyway.
And a small joke:

An optimist sees light at the end of the tunnel.
A realist sees a freight train.
The train operator sees 3 idiots standing on the tracks!

I pirated Civ III and played the hell out of it. Pirated Civ IV and played the hell out of it as well. Then I bought Civ III never registered it with Steam and lost the key so I pirated it again. I loved these games so damn much. Don't worry though. I spend so many countless hours playing Civ, I bought Civ V now that I'm all growed ups and stuff. I'm still no good at them and if I score past chieftain its due to some glitch in the Matrix.
Hope you find someone who is deserving of your copy. I do like the idea that you pick the best then give them a private giveaway. Good luck to all those others who live to love the game!

I have always loved the classic 4X RTS games, especially games with age changes be it Rise of Nations 1 (it was better than RoN 2), Age of Empires, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, Rome, Orion II (Orion 3 was kind of bad), or even the early tech up games like classic C&C, Dune, Starcraft/Warcraft. I played CIVII ages ago, and had CIV3 (physical version) before it was stolen from me when my apartment was broken in to (guess they assumed it had value since it had the fancy old looking tin box). I have entered many draws on here for Civ5, with no luck so far. The bulk of my RTS games are physical media, so I can't prove the countless hours I have played them. I don't like the modern take on RTS where you can't build or design your own base/city, just lets you buy units from a drop down menu (World in Conflict). I am an avid fan of 4X games, and would play it endlessly if I was to win. Thank you very much for this chance.

Having veritable proof that you've played strategy games isn't necessary, from my own experience in strategy games and facilitating what I don't know of the genre from reading so many responses gives me a good idea of who is speaking knowledgeably (or not). It's just nice to have that proof for the bulk of the submissions to make my life easier.
Nice Solar 2 avatar :)

So what you're saying is, you're bored and just want to go play a video game?

I'd like it because I've never played any of the Civilization games before, and I love strategy games. It seems like a great game and it would be AWESOME to play. I did read through the entire post, btw. XD But overall, I'd just really love the game. I'd probably be playing over an hour a day.
Thanks.

It's over, thanks so much for all your responses, was fun reading through them all. Grats to fbc123 for winning the giveaway I made for some of the most deserving entrants. I wish I had a copy for you all :(
Simple. I have an extra copy of Civilization V and have been unsure with what to do with it--until now. I'd like it to go to someone who will appreciate/enjoy it, so I want you all to tell me why you think that's you. You can write out a reason, sing a song, make a picture, I don't care. As long as you get your message across, it doesn't matter what you do
Having some played time in the older Civ titles or Civ like games on Steam will help your case. If it's apparent by your game library you are a fan of strategy/turn based strategy games that will also help your cause. Having this game on your wishlist before today's date (today being the day I posted this) will work in your favor, as well. There is no need to post this information, I'll take a look at that as well, unless your profile is private.
Whatever you have to post, post it here on this thread. Friending me on Steam won't help your chances, and in fact will most likely hurt your chances of 'winning'. At 11:59 EST October 20th (GMT -5) I'll start reading through all the posts, you can still submit something after that date, and so long as I haven't chosen a winner by the time you submit your entry I'll still examine your submission.
Just so we're all clear, this is a very subjective decision I'll be making, although I'll eliminate certain biases (I won't favor friends or people I know, at least consciously :P). The only other thing to note is that I refuse to choose a winner who has regifted wins or has not claimed wins from SteamGifts.
In the event that I'm unable to choose between entries, I'll make a private giveaway and invite all of those I think deserving but cannot choose between.
tl;dr In reply to this thread, tell me why you deserve Civ V (hint: reading the entire post shows me you are interested in getting the game)
