It's over, thanks so much for all your responses, was fun reading through them all. Grats to fbc123 for winning the giveaway I made for some of the most deserving entrants. I wish I had a copy for you all :(

Simple. I have an extra copy of Civilization V and have been unsure with what to do with it--until now. I'd like it to go to someone who will appreciate/enjoy it, so I want you all to tell me why you think that's you. You can write out a reason, sing a song, make a picture, I don't care. As long as you get your message across, it doesn't matter what you do

Having some played time in the older Civ titles or Civ like games on Steam will help your case. If it's apparent by your game library you are a fan of strategy/turn based strategy games that will also help your cause. Having this game on your wishlist before today's date (today being the day I posted this) will work in your favor, as well. There is no need to post this information, I'll take a look at that as well, unless your profile is private.

Whatever you have to post, post it here on this thread. Friending me on Steam won't help your chances, and in fact will most likely hurt your chances of 'winning'. At 11:59 EST October 20th (GMT -5) I'll start reading through all the posts, you can still submit something after that date, and so long as I haven't chosen a winner by the time you submit your entry I'll still examine your submission.

Just so we're all clear, this is a very subjective decision I'll be making, although I'll eliminate certain biases (I won't favor friends or people I know, at least consciously :P). The only other thing to note is that I refuse to choose a winner who has regifted wins or has not claimed wins from SteamGifts.

In the event that I'm unable to choose between entries, I'll make a private giveaway and invite all of those I think deserving but cannot choose between.

tl;dr In reply to this thread, tell me why you deserve Civ V (hint: reading the entire post shows me you are interested in getting the game)

Whatever, i don't like this game just a normal strategy game that everyone loves to play and that's what make me hate it. i'm a hipster and i play games that don't even exist. just don't give me this game under any circumstances as i may have to spent a lot of times playing the game and i will prolly become too old to find a woman and eventually die being a virgin unless i get raped sometime in the future =.=

Just kidding, i currently don't have a pc that can run fortix smoothly. Find someone else that deserve to play this game \O/

Because I was once a filthy pirate and played it and loved it. But now I don't pirate anymore and I don't have any money to buy Civ 5 right now, and it isn't on sale.

I'm just a huge fan of turn based strategies in general. Heroes of Might and Magic III is my all time favourite (And loving Heroes VI as well), and King's Bounty isn't far either. Heck, I even got Heroes II to work on a Samsung Galaxy. While it might not exactly be the kind of TBS Civ V is, it definitely would be a great change. Just one more turn.

And bcuz free gaimz are gud.

Well, I haven't played any Civ but, if you gift it to me I will enjoy it too much, I like strategy games and my brother likes it too, if you gift it to another person, well, have fun with it :P.

Edit: I haven't got any strategy games on Steam, but I've got Warhammer: Complete Edition and Company of Heroes (I'm trying to buy the 2nd part :P)

I love All types of RTS and Turn Based strategies! I installed Civ3 gold on my 3rd grade classroom computer after convincing the teacher that the game was the perfect way to teach historical battles and creating what if scenarios. 6th grade I convinced the principal to install Command and Conquer:Generals on the computer lab machines in order to instruct those of us interested in the US/Iraq war of the dangers of biological/chemical/nuclear warfare. I used rts to build up a 7th/8th grade tournament which the history teachers demanded that we use civ3 and we had to re-enact sparta's demise.

Since then I've been using RTS games in all forms of reports, tournaments, and slideshows to illustrate education and video games. College professors are much more forgiving in these endeavors.

Well, it seems you got it recently, or you would have definitely made a good selection for an exclusive giveaway for the best responses. That's actually pretty interesting what you did, have you published any of your work in any form? Videos, paper, article?

Anyways, thanks for the submission, definitely one of the better (and unique) responses I've gotten.

"Deserve" is a strong word. I'd like to give it a go though, mainly because I though the series went to shit after Civ2, and I hope this one could finally prove me wrong.

My friend has it and we play lots of multiplayer games together (DotA 2, Portal 2, Trine 2, ...) and now you can count 2+2+2 (-1 for me not having Civ 5) = 5; so maths is on my side ;)

Haven't played Civ5, but all I can say is that Civ3 is the best. It's a shame, that You're not giving that away.

Totally besides the point at hand, did you play the new Killzone? I liked #2 but found it was a bit too short for me to have interest buying the third, unless they either lengthened it or really had an epic story

I deserve Civ 5 because I would actually play and enjoy it, because I like (and play for a long time) other strategy games like Civ3 and Hearts of Iron (not on steam)

I have the 4th since a while and acquried the 3rd recently (though goingbackwards makes it difficult to get back in the old game), it stands to logic I should get the 5th now right ?

Imma be straight up honest. I Wanna play the game with my friend and I love RTS games. Ive played Age Of Empires 1 2 and 3 and I just cant get enough of it. Dont even get me started on Command And Conquer! I remember playing CoC Generals, and that game was awesome! But since I live in Turkey now, Steam games are more Expensive so I really cant buy games that often now. COD MW3 costs 200 Turkish Liras which is about 110 Bucks. Civ 3 and 4 were really awesome games too (Played em both at a Friends House) and I LOVED it. Id appreciate it if you gave me the game, if not thanks anyways. :) Take it easy.

What a strange idea :) Let me have a go then...

I've played the Civ series since Civ2 (even played a few games of Civ1), and strategy games are among my favourites, especially turn based ones. Due to lack of time and money, I have to be really picky about what I want to buy. I never enter any giveaways I'm not REALLY interested in.

Having that in mind, feel free to count how many times has Civ5 appeared in my giveaway entries.. Also, feel free to check out my wishlist, and the date I added Civ5..

That's it I guess. I'm just a Civ fan who wants a free game. :)
