Alice: Madness Returns, though it is only disabled from purchase at the moment and hopefully will return. It isn't the best game of all times of course, but was a rather good one. Main problem was the too long campaign which made the game super repetitive. Would it be twice or 3 times shorter, could be game of the year :)

i got it from g2a for like 15 bucks a couple of weeks ago

Of course, but besides being a grey market, that's a key-purchase :) I suppose even Steam gifts bought before removal still should remain in purchaser's inventory. You just can't purchase it directly from Steam nowadays.
Also, seems a bit pricey to me, but I guess it's the fact of rareness now...

Nope, it was a gift copy, so it was rightfully bought

Ride to Hell Retribution. Nowhere near perfect, execution failed and the whole concept and setting wasted, but I kinda enjoyed it, liked it for what it was, it worked, it was unpolished and made poorly with good intentions but it worked, the styles were cool, bike customization was great, characters were neat, game was brutal, combat had the brutality down like the hitting and impacts, bones cracking, executions, eetc. I enjoyed the bike ride segments, fighting off riders, jumping ramps and swerving under trucks, twas cool and I got invested in the story too. music is swell, listen to this one example, some great stuff realy = https://youtu.be/IAPguZgWNUE what I don't get though is why it got removed, Bad Rats still remains, why couldn't it remain as well? I really want someone do this game justice I really do.

Descent. 1 and 2. The original ones. Loved those games

i remember Descent 1 was the first game i ever ran in a window in Win95 (with like 5fps). that was crazy, a whole game in a window!!

right, that was pretty cool. we played Worms 1, 2 and Armageddon back then. it started to get ugly when they tried to make it work in 3D, though...
before that we had both Tank Wars and Scorched Earth, which were both brilliant. :)

i have to say, Wolfenstein and Doom were more important titles to me. Wolfenstein was my first PC game. after i sold my Amiga, i had a 386DX/40 with only one game - Wolfenstein 3D. so i played it for one or two weeks, until i started to get other games from friends. so yeah, it was a pretty influencial title for me. and Doom was nothing more than the epiphany of gaming for me. so damn well made, so extremely well controllable. such good music. and so much more pseudo-3D than Wolfenstein. it was a blast. and while i loved Descent, i have to say it was not as good as Doom control-wise, and the enemies were quite boring in comparison. it was still a brilliant game, but simply not as perfect as Doom. :)

pirated of course. i was a kid. no money for games. i bought maybe one or two games per year (birthday, christmas...). the rest was pirated. ^^

The best would be: Prey (2006), Wolfenstein (2009), Riddick, and Cryostasis. Managed to find all except Wolfenstein (Prey and Riddick I think I found on G2A for ridiculously low prices, Cryostasis from a trader in the Steam forums for 5 CSGO keys (like $10 at the time)). Would really love to own Wolfenstein as well.
Scratches: Director's Cut is another great game that I luckily got before it was removed. One of the scariest and most ambient games I've ever played.
I'm sure there are others I'm missing. I hate how games usually just disappear without a warning. Or how games get re-released every year in a new package. The good thing is some games actually come back, so I'm hopeful that some of the great games I remember will be back on Steam some day.
Stop $%^&@*& with our games!

Personally I don't see any problems with my post, and I don't think it broke any rules, but I removed it nonetheless since you find it offensive. Just trying to help... Since you said please, I'll be sure to let you know how many silly blacklists I get :)

Stubbs the Zombie I played it a lot on Xbox, no idea why it was removed from the store :(

In your opinion, what's the best game removed from Steam? Why?
Feel free to mention more than 1 game, comment why Steam removed it/them and/or tell how to legally get it/them nowadays (maybe the most important info).
It's certainly not the best one, since I don't know most of the games removed by Steam, but in my opinion one of the good ones was Planescape: Torment. I remember people compared it to Fallout 2 because of the various possibilities of both RPGs. Actually it can be purchased on GOG.
Edit: Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition is on Steam!
