It's something I can definitely consider if people are interested. I can track the lifetime pledges of an individual on Patreon, so the site could be configured to give a user permanent rewards if they contribute above a certain amount, regardless of whether that contribution came in one month, or 12 months.

I also put my 2 cents (pun intended) on a donation system that is one time based.
You can have both Patreon and 1 time donation system. Donation should be free to choose the amount and maybe with some incentives like if you donate $3 you get the same benefits of the Outdoor cat but only for a month.
You might also consider/poll for it a "lifetime level" donation that would give the top tier benefits (and possibly more who knows?) for a certain consequent donation.
I'd rather give when I can than be stuck with another "monthly bill" as it's what patreon seems to me.
(heck for some people/website/channel the patreon is set on a weekly basis!)
Thanks for the website and everything, we will never say it enough and I hope this whole thing will help you get through the running cost and everything.
Cheers.

I don't know if it is only me but I cannot see the quantity of money this patreon will collect monthly. Like if I go to this other patreon they disclose the quantity: https://www.patreon.com/libretro
Never saw a Patreon campaign not disclosing it before, are there any reasons for this?

Ahhh!!! I had no idea, you are probably right, I'll wait to confirm.

They're not prices-- it's not a shop or store. They're pledge amounts-- how much you want to give of your hard-earned money to support a fantastic site.
Oh, and if you want, you can also get some cosmetic rewards like a star by your name, custom win gifs, etc.

Hmm I would be more inclined to pay $7 a month if for my first donation I get a instant name change option lol

I just found out I have to go and work in a shitty country for a month. I think I might need an emo name change for a while. They don't even have proper beer. Maybe something about my soul...

I don't even know why I pay taxes for a nuclear deterrent just so other countries can get away with serving fizzy bland lager in giant wine glasses and calling it beer and not only pretending it is acceptable but also being smug about it.

Too far. I'd have to start drawing pictures of my half-vampire half-demon half-dragon hedgehog OC (do not steal). Besides I've gone through angry now and into depressed. Is bargaining or resignation next?

and it is not? developing and maintaining a big community website is "actual stuff", heck it probably requires loads more effort, time and skills than running a "popculture blog" for example, yet you have hundreds of blog patreons and noone has problem with that (neither do I), but when you have developer sharing his work with you for free it suddenly is no longer "actual stuff"?
Patreon is to support developer of SG if you want to, not to remove analytics. Removal of analytics and custom stuff is patreon reward. Same way if you support blogger you may get idk, sneakpeak into future posts.

You're making the assumption the current add-revenue was enough to pay for the server, the bandwidth and the coding-time involved in maintaining and improving the site?
I'm not saying I know exactly what his current costs or income are, but generally speaking decent servers aren't cheap, neither is coding-time if you want to do it right. (And I can tell you add-income isn't as much as most people think)
So if he wants to offer a way for people to support the site, having a way to donate isn't 'a cheap move for money'. No-one's forced to do anything.

So make your own fucking website?
cg literally does this as a hobby in his free time. Up until this point, he only received ad revenue which he has previously stated does not cover all costs. He uses referral revenue to give away AAA games to the site users. Numerous server/infrastructure upgrades over the years (remember how SLOW it used to be?) usually came out of his own pocket. Again, all for a fun side project.
Seriously, "entitled" doesn't even begin to describe your attitude.

I am a little confused how this works. Patreon is a monthly payment structure. So if someone chooses to only stay a Patron for one month, does that mean their steamgift customization options will cease when they cease to be a Patron? I this correct?

Correct.

Think that might be because people will too easily think "oh he's getting a lot of money" and then get all negative about it because they would not take into account the costs of running this site ( such as for example server, bandwidth, coding-time for maintenance/improvements)

A one-time donation option via paypal would be a good addition. I'd be happy to donate $15 on occasion, especially when I see a flurry of improvements like today. And I don't even need the perks (I don't mind the ads and don't need the star).

don't care much about customization things tbh. would prefer much more a free donation option instead of a monthly subscription.
also what about a warning kindly asking to disable adblock for the site?

Seconded. It seems many people aren't practicing good ad-blocking etiquette (i.e. disabling ad-block on sites you frequent daily).

Hi SG,
I'm excited to be sharing our Patreon with everyone today! If you're unaware of Patreon, it's a platform for users ("Patrons") to support and subscribe to their favorite content creators and services. Our Patreon is arranged into three reward tiers, and it offers a number of fun rewards without giving anyone an unfair advantage towards entering or winning giveaways. The reward tiers are as follows:
Outdoor Cat ($3/mo)
House Cat ($7/mo)
Space Cat ($15/mo)
Our Patreon covers all of the specifics, including further details about the rewards and how they can be redeemed after subscribing.
https://www.patreon.com/steamgifts
You'll also notice the Patreon button added to the account page of our site. This is where you can redeem your rewards as explained above.
https://www.steamgifts.com/account/settings/patreon
A big thanks to everyone, regardless of whether or not you decide to subscribe. It's been a lot of fun working on SteamGifts over the years. I hope to see the community continue to grow, and I'll keep doing my best to release new features and improvements for the years to come. Thanks!
