How does everyone else type? I find that my left pinky finger is only used for ctrl and my right pinky is only used for shift. My left thumb can be removed as it has no purpose.

Left hand: I never use my middle finger or pinky ever. Left ring finger is only used for Tab/Shift/Ctrl, so my pointer finger does every letter and number on the left side.
Right hand: I never use my pinky or thumb. Right ring finger is only used for Shift/Enter/Backspace

I learned to type back in the day when we only had manual typewriters, so I use every finger and both thumbs. When the computer keyboard finally became common, it actually slowed me down due to the differences.

I don't use the right shift at all, I use my left thumb for shift and ctrl, and my right thumb for space. Weird that I didn't notice at all that I'm actually using my left thumb for shift, I always thought I was always using my left pinky for shift until I actually type and came into a realization "wait what".

Similarly to Khalaq, I learned typing at school through manuals originally intended for typewriters, although we did use modern computers and keyboards. To simulate the unforgivingness of typewriters, we were encouraged to leave the errors visible on each practice page, forcing us to reflect on any mistakes made while still maintaining high output.
The standard hand placement (on a QWERTY) is ASDF for left hand and JKL* for right hand (the asterix is a placeholder as the key to the right of L varies from region to region), leaving both thumbs to only manage the space bar. Many keyboards subtly hint at this by leaving a small mark on the F and J keys, where your index fingers should be, so you can always 'reset' your hand position without looking down.
From there, each finger has a set amount of keys it is responsible for, and whenever that key needs to be pressed you will use that finger momentarily and then return to the default placement. Personally I always use left pinky for Shift although I guess the right pinky would be just as correct. Ctrl is not relevant to typing, I believe? If I need to format using Ctrl, I would usually do it after I've exited 'typing mode' anyway, but in theory this is also handled by the pinky.

Not gonna go for a better result, since I mainly use Cyrillic layout, but it was fun :D
P.S. oh, so there is a russian language as well, but seems I'm not that much faster in it :D (only 68wpm)
Guys who reached over 100, you are monsters in typing :D

First try, but can do better. Also, weird, but I expected their "megaracer" status would go tor people who type at like 100 WPM, not just 80.
Edit: Can't seem to fix the table formatting issue, even using the 7&Ctr format. Sorry!

Might be because the site is pretty old, and back the average "professional typists" types around 50 to 80 wpm. Quoted from Wikipedia.

Sorry for bumping the thread, but I finally managed to improve my score so I'll leave this one as my updated entry:

I think I'll leave it at that, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to beat 1st place anyway, so I'll just be happy that I managed top accuracy 😄
Thanks again for hosting the contest!

Damn American spelling! Both my actually fast times threw me off with that but this is still probably around my actual typing speed so it will do.

I tried changing both | to %7C but it does not seem to work...Sorry. Is the format ok that way ?
Also, if we manage to get a better score, do we write a new comment or edit that one ?

The main thing killing my typing speed is the sample we're typing from. A few times now the capitalisation threw me off, and apparently I didn't poke the shift key long enough and had to quickly erase back to correct it. Typing fast is one thing, but being an equally fast reader and correcter is another. Hnngh. In this case it was only a short sample and light on the punctuation.
