It is a very unusual metroidvania game that doesnt give you a direct direction about your purpose or about the story. You just gotta explore and put the pieces together. It also has a beautiful world building and scenery like Ori.

Hi there! One of my very favorite Steam games is the completely overlooked The Sea Will Claim Everything - it's a sweet strange parable told in static frames and about ten thousand puns by Jonas Kyratzes, one of the creators of The Talos Principle.

The story is about the oddball creatures on the magic Fortunate Islands in the Lands of Dream, with their strange theories and peculiar characters, and the jokes are everywhere (every book and every mushroom, for example, can be clicked for some sort of comment, groaner, or personality moment). In fact, it is more or less about the Greek economy imploding a decade or so back, if you choose to read it that way. Not necessary, though. Surely a lot of people would find this hellishly boring and frustrating, and I loved it.

deaths door is great, one of the few games I got 100% on! (Which I almost never do lol) but very solid game and the soundtrack is also great!

The only unpopular game I remember playing is Overture.

Does multi-player count? Maybe Fortress Forever looks good - in a goofy way. It's extremely unpopular.

As for single player games, I guess Blood Knights is unpopular, while looking "good" (again, more the goofy kind).
