For the record, that means that the BTA is $5.98, since you have to pay at least $0.01 more than what is shown.

I'm sorta interested in Flinthook, but not for such a high BTA.

I hope that too.

Flinthook looks awesome, Imo. Everything sounds pretty cool, too, but not interested in Full Throttle. I also still have at least one unredeemed copy of Day of the Tentacle from some of the other Humbles it's been in.
I also think Loot Rascals sounds kinda cool, and seem to remember people recommendung ABZU? So I might get it.

Bonus cash only for monthly subscribers, artificially inflated BTA with "eh, if I pay another 3$ I get 2$ back anyway" mentality and so on.

Own Grim Fandango, Abzu, Day of Tentacle, zero interest in the rest; no buy. Maybe T1 just to give away or somethin.

Not too bad, getting Tier 1 for Loot Rascal and TumbleSeed. Tier 2 and Tier 3 are not bad as well, but unfortunately too many people are purchasing Tier 3 right now, the BTA is raised hard, but it's dropping right now.

Avoid what sort of thing? Giving incentives to monthly subscribers? Why not?

Any other week, tier 3 would be $12 and one or maybe two games. This week it's two games and a VIP ticket for $9.

I said thinking not thing. The idea that IGN has/will ruin HB.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sorry for misreading the final word, although it doesn't really change my point. I can only assume that ElectroTano is reacting to the inclusion of a monthly subscribers-only tier 3 item. The bundle is otherwise typical of Humble Bundles past.

You seem to be agreeing with him that IGN / HB have somehow failed to protect their image.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope, not really. And honestly, I seriously doubt that IGN had anything to do with this bundle. All the work for putting this together was probably done well in advance of their takeover. All I am saying is I kind of expected IGN to throw some big games into their first bundle to avoid the inevitable thoughts that they're ruining it.

My apologies then for misunderstanding you.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well I think they sort of need a bit of incentive, since all Humble's bundles these days seem to include monthly rebundles.

This one seems to be saying, "Sorry guys, we know you already have Abzu and Grim Fandango Remastered, but here's a $2 wallet voucher with weird timing rules attached to it that we hope makes you want buy the bundle anyway."

...here's a $2 wallet voucher with weird timing rules...

What weird timing rules...oh, wait, the credit expires in 90 days? That should be mentioned in the OP.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'm not sure. The way I read it is that the voucher expires in 90 days, but if you redeem it then the credit itself does not:

"NOTE: Humble Wallet credit must be redeemed to your Humble Bundle account within 90 days after this bundle has been purchased (once redeemed, it can be spent after 90 days). You must be logged in and subscribed prior to purchasing this bundle in order to receive credit. Gift purchases will disburse credit to the giftee and not the gift purchaser."

The "once redeemed, it can be spent after 90 days" is a little odd. I assume it can also be spent before 90 days, so I think what they mean is "once the voucher is redeemed, the credit does not expire", but they didn't actually say that.

And has micro transactions

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes because just having them makes a game bad.I can say sometimes that is the case because of how they are used but not all games are bad that use them.

If you think microtransactions are bad fine but I'm just saying it does not mean a game is bad just for having them any more than one bad apple spoils the bunch it only does if you let it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

i can accept only miscro's for cosmetics everything else ruins the experience for me and its an instant no buy. i vote with my wallet and maybe if i am lucky i will remove the worm(micros) from the apple and save it from spoiling all the others.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sadly most will ignore the apple hoping it spoils the bunch so they can reap the rewards when people need to buy fresh apples.I accept that they exist that does not mean I like them all or I think they are okay across the board.I, however, do understand that gaming changes and evolves sometimes for better or worse but it's clear microtransactions work and now Publishers are just testing how far they can push them.

All I can do is vote with my wallet as clearly reviewing bombing or just passing hate just cause is not going to do any good as it's clear most people don't mind them as if they did not they would not be working and they would be finding other ways to get money out of you.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yes it sad but true, microtransactions are a huge profit boost for companies.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well you also have accept that things change and you may not like the change but when your the minority it means little.I hate digital games for a lot of reason.I have got used to them I do like them for a few good reason but overall I hate it.Though since I'm in the minority I either just accept the change or waste time being angry over something out of my control and not enjoy gaming.

In the end, microtransactions are becoming the new DLC because well games have changed and are changing into a platform more than as individual games. The days of huge open world single player gamers as the norm are gone and in that place are games that evolve over time and get new content more often and that comes with the cost of microtransactions.I'm not saying single player is dead far from it it's just the norm anyone looking at video games can see that as even single player games are highly dependent on online or resemble a MMO hybrid like ESO as you can do most of the game solo or with others or a mix of both.

well i am not angry at all i am 36 old with family and kids and limited time to play, i have other things to be angry at my age. there as still options for people like me, see all the wonderful indie games out there.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sorry I see how that seemed like you were I meant that if it does make you angry but I worded it wrong. As a lot of people do get angry over this stuff which I suppose is since they have a right to be I just don't see what it solves.I also did not mean all gamers are going to change like this but the average game will be but as you pointed out indie games and other games can still be found without all this nonsense.

Get 2 dollars credit for Humble Store (which only works for 90 days) by buying a Humble Bundle for 9 dollars or more, but it's only for those that are subscribed for Humble Monthly... Huh?

so next month you will pay 10$ instead of 12$ if you are a monthly subscriber (if you didn't cancel your subscription earlier). i don't know how it works for people with 6 months / 12 months plan..

Get 2 dollars credit for Humble Store (which only works for 90 days)

It EXPIRES?!?!? DA Heck? What kind of lame thought that was a good idea. I mean i was wondering why it wouldn't just be $2 to your wallet and why bother with coins..but expiring money is the devil. I don't even consider that a thing at that point. It's not an incentive it's barely a bonus if I buy often. After IndieGameStand and Desura i'm super paranoid of HB dying on me. I've changed my payment balance to favor them but yeech to more random currencies. What next diamonds that we exchange for coins.

I get the feeling it's there as an incentive to spend in their store for the upcoming holiday sales and not much more.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If enough monthly subs say "ah..wth it's only $3 more for tier 3 & I get $2 back in store credit", then all their $9 purchases will keep the BTA tier price up.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh, I'm sure you're right about that, too.
I'm surprised they don't do it more often on their less "popular" bundles to generate sales above the BTA.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

90 days will take you through the holidays...it's not hard to spend $2 on 50-75% discounted titles over the holidays, IMO.
And it's a clever yet reasonable way to get their BTA not to drop like a rock. :p

Permalink

Coupons expire all the time. Think of it as a coupon instead of "money".

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

As mentioned elsewhere: You have 90 days to REDEEM the $2 credit to your humble wallet, after that it's yours until you spend it. In other words redeem it right away and you can use it any time. (It does NOT expire if you redeem it to your humble wallet)
